May Arts + LYB + Xyron!

Welcome to Day 3 of the hop! I hope you've been stopping by all the blogs for inspiration (and don't forget about the giveaway(s)!!!)
I've got a couple of really fun cards to share!

I'm in love with this LYB Poppy line! So bright, happy & trendy!
I cut the 'Celebrate' with my cricut and then added glitter with the awesome Xyron Create A Sticker! I ran it through to put the adhesive on the front first & applied the glitter, then ran it through a second time to make my glitter embellie a sticker! FAB!

I've used a couple different papers & stickers for this card. And I layered the new 5/8" woven chevron in white (gah!) over 2 layers of the 5/8" sheer ruffle edge in orange. I am loving the effect & will be sure to put it to use again soon!

 Next up!

A different pattern from the Poppy line, anchored with the same great chevron pattern at top & bottom that I used on the last card!
Another sticker from the line- and don't you LOVE that CORK flower pin? I used a Xyron 3/16" dot adhesive to apply aqua glitter!
Can you tell I love that 5/8" sheer ruffle? I used the turquoise this time! I tied some bittersweet burlap string around that turquoise bow- yum!

I've had so much fun pairing these 3 awesome companies together- May Arts ribbons complement the LYB Poppy Line wonderfully- and the Xyron products stick them all together! (Lol!!! I'm cracking myself up!)
Ok, so I know you picked up on the *prize* alert above!

May Arts + Core'dinations + Stampendous!

Welcome to Day 3 of the hop! :)
For my first card I used the Stampendous Cling Dream Text
stamp on whitewashed Core'dinations paper & heat embossed
with Stampendous Detail Clear embossing powder
The tag was cut with my cricut & the reverse side of the
whitewash paper provides the pink lining. Stickles were used for
the flower center.
I KNOW you're loving that gorgeous bow! That's May Arts'
Rose Silky Crush ribbon. YUMMO! The tag is tied on with the
The Core' Sand-it gadget was used for distressing.
This next card is honestly stunning in person. It's probably in bad
taste to say that, but it's true. ;)
More of the Core' whitewash & this time the
Stampendous jumbo cling poppy was used. This is a large image &
I couldn't bear to cut any off so this is a 5x7" card!
I used some purple pigment ink & again embossed with the
Stampendous detail clear powder. I then watercolored the image with
the same purple ink & used black marker on the center.
The scroll image was stamped with versamark & heat embossed
May Arts black velvet corduroy was used to anchor the image, and
the chevron twill in mauve matched the paper perfectly.
I distressed the edges & used more of the whitewash paper as my
card base.
What do you think?
You KNOW there are some fab prizes involved with the hop!

May 2013 PTI blog hop

This month the PTI blog hop challenge was to build a bouquet!
I've used Pretty Peonies, Life & May Arts satin leaves to create my bouquet.

I love how the bouquet turned out, but couldn't help thinking it looked like it was floating. When I looked at the inspiration again I decided a ribbon 'vessel' was in order!
I apologize for not visiting all the beautiful work out there lately. It's been a busy, busy time with my family & commitments at my daughter's school. I applaud those of you that are able to fit it all in & hope you will let me in on your secret to doing it.... :)
Here's the bouquet that was my inspiration:
Thank you so much for taking a peek! Happy Hopping! :)

May Arts + Scor-Pal!

Welcome to the May Arts & Scor-pal hop!
Today I am putting the turquoise 1.5" faux linen to work!
I started by using Mod-Podge as a stiffener & setting aside-you may be able to see the difference in texture the mod-podge gives in the picture below-

Once it was dry, I used my Scor-pal at 1/2" intervals to score the ribbon.
Then I accordion folded it & hot-glued it to a piece of cardstock.
Next I scored my card base & DCWV decorative paper.
 And here it is assembled!

I'm loving how it turned out!

Now you KNOW with a hop comes a give-away! So make sure you leave a comment here, and at each stop of the hop for your chance at 3 spools of your choice AND a Scor-pal of your own! :)
Wahoo, right! :)

Ribbon Organization!

How can that NOT get your attention?
Lol.
So here's the peek-
And here's the expanded version:
 Yummy, right?
I've tried organizing by ribbon type (all grosgrain/satin/etc), by ribbon series (striped grosgrain), but I like to see it by color.
SO.PRETTY.
This is actually part of a rather large shelving unit- after I joined the May Arts team I needed to store that gorgeous ribbon, so I added 1x2" mdf boards to the shelving unit. I have an L-bracket on each end & in the middle for support.
Now what do you do when that isn't enough room?
You visit Ikea!
This wire basket cart holds a TON of ribbon! And you can even stack another unit on top for more storage. I love that I can sort it by color & see what color is in each before I even pull out the basket.
And for ribbon that I don't have entire rolls of?
I keep them on cardstock & file them in drawers too. No rhyme or reason! The Ikea baskets would work for this system too, but I already had this 3 plastic drawer bin, so I put it to use.
My baker's twine & silk are on my Ribbon Carousel!
Before I had such an amazing supply, I used to wrap my ribbon around clothes pins & put them in wide mouth jars. Also a super pretty way to store those smaller amounts of ribbon!
Hope I've given you some ideas for how to store your ribbon!
Now you're going to want to visit all the Ribbonistas for inspiration- but make sure you leave a comment too for a chance to win 3 spools of your choice!

Light It Up Blue!

I'm participating in the Light It Up Blue Blog Hop today!
We were asked to make something blue- it didn't need to be ASD related, but I had this idea in my head & was all in!
I used a canvas & painted it blue- slightly dry brushing. I inked around the edges & stamped text randomly & smudged it a bit.

I wanted a light bulb to symbolize 'lighting it up', so I free-handed a light bulb on vellum & cut it out to use it as a template. I painted the bulb with pearl paint & set it aside to dry.
I outlined the bulb in the new white mini cording.
The base of the bulb has threads made from silver string.

The puzzle piece & the blue color are the 2 main symbols for ASD, so I knew I wanted to incorporate the puzzle piece somehow too. I painted the puzzle piece with white paint, and dimensional glaze is on top creating the shine. Some dimensional adhesive pops it up on the canvas.

So now it's time to hop along & leave some comments for a chance to win this:

Here's the list! Happy Hopping!
