Dear Pain,

Yeah.   I know you're here.

You make your presence abundantly known...like a pebble in my shoe.

 

Muhammad Ali said, "It isn't the mountains ahead that wear you out...it's the pebble in your shoe."

 

I think he was probably right.  Pebbles are totally exhausting.

 

 

 

And that Ali guy is pretty smart for a basketball player. 

 

Or is that a football player?

 

Ummm.

 

Hockey?

 

Yeah.   I am always on top of the whole reference to sports thing.

 

NOT.

 

Blush! 

 

But chronic pain just wears you out.

 

And wears you down.

 

Maybe I need to spend less time trying to shake the damn pebble out of my shoe and more time remembering...

 

That perhaps the pebble in my shoe is heart shaped.

 

 

Or maybe a rare emerald.

 

Or a diamond.

 

I just need to remember that perhaps all this medical testing will help the pebble in my shoe.

 

Maybe it will make it gone.

 

Maybe it will just make it littler.

 

Or maybe I will need to invest in some special 'pebble in your shoe foot pad' to get by.

 

I just can't be afraid.

 

And I just have to keep reminding the pain...
