Finish Along Q1 [Review]

It's been quite the quarter, hasn't it! I only have five Finish-Along finishes to celebrate this quarter. I think the first quarter is always slow because there's so many yummy things to start...But I do want to celebrate progress on a few long-term WIPS this quarter - although they aren't eligible as a finish, they are definitely closer than they were! Certain people will be horrified to hear that my WIP list currently stands a nice round 100 - with a couple of interesting items from Instagram threatening to push it higher still! Here are my finishes: First up my Gypsy Wife quilt. I finished it on my birthday and I love it! Such rainbowy goodness! The other large quilt finish was my Summer Sampler 2016. Obviously this one has been around for a while, but those colours and fabrics are just so summery, that given the snow we've had recently, I felt it was the perfect pick-me-up! On the subject of Summer Samplers... my 2017 Summer Sampler is sitting unloved

Gravity Quilt

Did you know that it's been nearly three years since I last touched this quilt? Dreadful isn't it. I made ten blocks in June 2015 and then put it away and didn't touch it again. In my defence, we had just moved into a new house, and I fell pregnant with Jessica not long after. However, it is still quite embarrassing that I managed to finish the remaining eight required blocks in just one day. And at least part of that was spent trying to find the rulers that went with it! Time just goes so fast and I have so many yummy projects to work on that all of a sudden a year has passed and I haven't touched something! This is not the only quilt I'm guilty of ignoring for a lengthy period (I'm sure @Archiewonderdog can provide you with a list!)... But here are the new blocks, 2 each of four different blocks. I've also cut up all the background fabric and I'm ready to piece a quilt top! This is optimistically on my Finish Along list for this quarter , and

Finish Along Q3 [goals]

Last quarter was unsuccessful because I hadn't planned. When I wrote my list my mind was elsewhere and the list didn't include much that was achievable, and certainly didn't include much that inspired me over the last few months. As such, I didn't have many finishes to share. But I know how important the Finish Along is, not just for getting me to finish things, but also for getting me to be creative and find time to sew, which in turn keeps me sane in between the dirty nappies and bottles! So with that in mind I've planned this next quarter a lot more carefully! However, that doesn't mean that the list will be any shorter! So, in no particular order, here are the plans: ABC Embroidery: This project is pushing my embroidery comfort zone with some new stitches and I'm thoroughly enjoying leaving the backstitch zone behind. It's rubbing off on other embroidery projects too which I'm finding quite exciting! I've done A-G and I need to start thinki

Finish Along [realistic vs. unrealistic]

This list has not been easy to put together, because none of the projects I have are particularly close to being finished. Normally I can split my list into two halves: those items which are realistic finishes and those items which are totally unrealistic. Every so often an unrealistic finish makes it, but mostly they are put on repeat until they become realistic! This time, I don't have many projects that fall in the first category.... perhaps only one. And of the unrealistic quilts, those closest to being finished need quilting. And the machine I normally use for quilting needs to be serviced... So here is my list, and I'm not expecting many finishes. I think it will be a personal success if I can simply make progress on a few of them. If one accidentally gets finished, then even better! Aspen glow: you'll have seen this one before no doubt, but it's a been a while since I even bothered to add it to this list. But it's a gift for someone special, and I'd r

WIP Wednesday [Gravity]

I'm totally addicted to these blocks! I've had the kit since February, and had hoped to follow along with Myra's quilt along, but with the house move, I just never got round to opening the fabrics up. Until last week, when, on the same day, I read Myra's latest post , and opened the box I had packed the kit in. Well, if the planets are going to align like that, there's only one thing for it. I made blocks 1 and blocks 2 at the weekend... and then kept going with blocks 3, 4 and 5. That makes a total of 10 blocks! Here they are all together: And some close ups: Block 3: Orbit: A pink one... And a turquoise one And, of course, the baby ones! Block 4: Intergalactic: a lime one And a purple one. And the baby ones. And block 5: Celestial: a green one And a pink one. And the baby ones. I've now successfully managed to create baby blocks in three different sizes.... pretty special. I don&#
