I've got a lot of catching up to do. This time we really actually were kind of busy!
First things first. July was not kind to us. In the first week of the month I miscarried. I would have been about 12 weeks along. I still struggle with that every now and then, but most days I'm fine. And not to mention, Ryan has been out of town a couple times in the last few months for work. So I was glad he was home for this particularly fun event.
We did have fun despite the not fun stuff. Ava and I went to Salt Lake with my sisters. (Sorry Kait! I wish you could have come!) We took all the kids and had a great time! We were able to go to places like the Children's Museum, the Hogle Zoo, and the Clark Planetarium.
(Here's where I get lazy! I didn't bring my camera with me so all these are from my phone! Thank goodness for that!)
Ava at the Children's Museum.
Ava and Aunty Ann
We were headed over to the Leonardo when we came across this super cool fountain thing! The kids were a little crazy and it was HOT so we stopped to play for a while.
Ava and Lila holding hands. Too sweet.
Marissa and Lila were able to come hang out with us on Saturday! Levi took Finn camping so it was just the two of them. (We missed you Levi and Finn!)
This was on the way home. We wore the kids out!!!
In August we had our annual Cousin Camp for my side of the family. Again I did not bring my camera. Even though it was a five minute drive home to get it. See… lazy!
Levi had a business trip that week so Marissa and the kids got to come for the whole week. (Riss, I hope you weren't sick of us!!)
Cute cousins!!!
Ellie, Ava, and Lila.
(Thanks Heidi! I totally downloaded this pic from facebook!)
It was Cars themed this year! There were lots of fun games and races. Ava loved getting to play with all of her cousins!
Ryan and I also celebrated our 5th anniversary this month! Ryan was taking me out of town that same weekend for a girls trip with my wonderful mother-in-law and all my sweet sisters-in-law! He was going to get to hang out with all the boys while we did our fun girly stuff. So since we were already going, he suprised me and found a babysitter for Ava (Thank you a TON Cam, Heidi, and girls!!) while we were able to have an Ava free evening!
Well what started out as a good trip out of town turned into something completely different! Just out of Duchesne we hit a tire. No, not just the tire. THE WHOLE WHEEL. This kid was pushing it across the street and we hit it. We did NOT hit the kid. Just his wheel. It scared me a little but we were fine. The poor kid was scared to death. Almost literally. (It's a much better story when Ryan can tell it. So ask him about it!)
See. Just a little crack. Nothing big… for us!
We then proceed into Salt Lake. Or West Valley to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Weekes. It was a fun visit! Then we were heading to our hotel. Ryan wouldn't tell me which one it was. Turns out it was the Anniversary Inn. Fun. So on our way there, the car started being weird. We broke down and Ryan had to push us to the side of the road. Not fun. He called Eric. Eric came and helped us get it going. It only took several hours and an alternator and a battery. Then we were on our way again. We made it to our hotel and to dinner at the ROOf. Yum! (Happy Anniversary, babe! I love you!) We get up Saturday morning and drive to City Creek for some shopping. Lots of fun. We start heading to Amy and Eric's and the car starts being weird again. Same weird. Not cool green car. So Eric and his dad save us again. Thanks a million and then some Eric for spending your whole weekend helping us!!! Lets just say I didn't make if for our fun girls weekend. Sad. After a trip to the Tunex guys and another alternator we were ready to go! We made it home and haven't had trouble with it since. Thank goodness.
Anyways. So Ryan and I have been trying to get qualified to participate in the self help housing program. After a few weeks of paper work, phone calls, and waiting, we finally got accepted into the program yesterday! YAY!!! Super excited! It will take somewhere around 10 months to a year to get into our very own very brand new house!! We can hardly wait to get started!
Ava and I took a trip over to Pheasant Run Estates today to check out our lot. Its full of weeds and stuff. Cool.
(And after seeing all these pictures, I realized that Ava is wearing the same outfit in almost all of them. Hmmm. She loves her Hello Kitty dress. Could you tell?)
Home sweet home!
In between all our crazy adventures we somehow find time to help Grandpa Garth in the garden. Ava loves being outside and helping! And for those of you who know my child, yes she actually is eating that corn. Who is this child right!?!
