D.I.Y

If I haven't filled you in yet I bought a house. It is wonderful now but it wasn't pretty getting here. I was on the prowl for about a year I had an awesome Agent it was just hard with my price range. Investors would snap up anything that didn't have legs. I cuaght a lucky break when my friend and owner of the house I was renting decided to sell so I ended up snatching up her house before the investors caught wind of it. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bath house with a nice size kitchen. The house of course was in good condition compared to the some of the vacant houses I had seen. There were houses that were purposely trashed but others were nasty due to peoples laziness or general lack of hygiene. So now that the place is mine I decided it was time for some updates. I decided to start with the kitchen becuase well there was something in there that was totally wrong. I have been troubled by it since the day I moved in and that is in this beautiful little nook with cute little windows were blue, metal blinds. Really? They must have been free or something. Why? Why would you ever... never mind. So here are the pics and the updates.

It is hard to tell but there are baby blue blinds on this window so just imagine it... faded, dusty, metal, baby blue... got it?

Thanks to my friend Sara's husband Alber I now have nice white faux wood blinds.

There are some nice white walls throughout the house but after many of those little sample size .5 liter jars of paint I have settled on Timberdust. Anyone collect paint samples? I have quite a few.

Much better!

Let's see what else?...

Oh yes, field trip! In the past I have taken my second graders and other visitors to the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef. The Shark Reef gives teachers a pretty sweet deal it is free for us and 1 other guest so the 4 of us (Steph, Colby, Kurt, and I) got in free and had our own field trip it was lots of fun. Kurtis: "Pretty shark"
Colby channeling his inner aztec anger.
Ohh accessories
Colby and Kurtis at the petting zoo... be brave
Steph looks great I will leave Colby's expression up to your own interpretation.

Late night

To fry or not to fry that is the question. About midnight we usually either crash or come up with something off the wall. Shane bought a fryer at Walmart and we got busy...
Here are a few of our friers Colby, Steph, and Shane
...and here are a few of our tasters Tanya and Kurtis

Night Fun

First of all I have the best group of friends a gal could ask for. We enjoy staying out late and sometimes that leads to the following:

Night croquet!

Colby lining up his shot.
Kurtis just likes modeling with the mallet.
... and another one
Tanya, Colby, and sleepy Steph.

An update... Way overdue!

I know I know it has been FOREVER since I updated this thing. I have kind of had a busy life but that is no excuse. Since I am now on summer vacation I have high hopes of updating to the present all the fun I have been up to in 2009. Well start with the old and work to the new. First of all I started my Masters in curriculum with an emphasis in Humanities. I am doing it through Touro university. I have liked it as much as you can like going to school, I have no complaints that can't be fixed with peanut M&M's and a diet cherry limeade. Well let's get on with some pictures I know that is the fun stuff to look at...

I have a super wonderful fun group of friends and we are always looking for something cheap and fun to do on the weekends and so the following are some of our endeavors to meet the aforementioned criteria:

My Room (for Rischel)

I promised my sister-in-law I would post some pictures of my room. I worked on painting it this summer and am slowly decorating it. I planned a more sea blue but I got kind of a robin egg blue... oh well it works now and I am too lazy to cover it up. No worries the cieling and window coverings are not blue they are an off white.
