wow, i've become a horrible blogger!

i can't believe it's already mid june. it is officially crazy hot outside and the mosquitos are out to kill me and desmond (for some reason they leave jer alone). summer is not my favorite season anyway, but in the south, it is brutal! we just had my parents in town for a week though, which was a bright spot. we had a great time together. my mom tried to landscape my entire yard (in true lonna fashion), we played and ate and hung out with dez. david and diane were here for my niece brookes graduation, so, on memorial day the whole gang came to our house for a bbq.

catching up

i've been horrible at many things lately, blogging being one of them. we have had a few busy months here. right after christmas, jeremy started studying for the texas bar exam. because this was keeping him so busy, desmond and i went back to utah for three weeks so he could study in peace and quiet. while we were gone, dallas had a record breaking snowfall event that left jeremy without power for three days, studying by candle light. what a crazy time.
while we were in utah, my poor mom broke her arm. a really bad break she had to go through surgery for. she has been a trooper and is still going though physical therapy to get her strength back.
i was also called into the primary presidency of our ward. a calling that overwhelms me, but i do love working with the kids. it has really been a blessing in my life.
we also welcomed a new family member. my sister and her husband adopted a baby girl who is quickly stealing all of our hearts. we are so, so excited for them and love little frances to pieces.
i can't believe summer is upon us. it has already crept into the 80's here in dallas, the trees are out, the flowers are blooming and it is a gorgeous time of year (minus the allergies).
desmond is growing like a weed. i can't believe how much he's grown up in the past few months. he is obsessed with all things "cars." i don't know that he'll ever tire of that movie, or playing with his little cars. the first thing he asks me in the morning is "do you want to roll cars with me?" it sort of breaks my heart to see that he's not a baby anymore.
anyway, hope all of you are well. i will try to be better at blogging, i enjoy looking at all of yours and keeping up with you!

david and diane in front of their billboard in vegas
jason, me, dez, jer, david and diane in city center, vegas
diane holding up her new ring, it was gorgeous!
jer and dez, christmas morning
finally on the airplane after 12 long hours at the airport!
dez, at about hour 10 watching yo gabba gabba. he really was a trooper, never cried.

christmas had a bit of a rough start this year. we planned to fly out to las vegas at 1 pm on christmas eve day, but because of a freakish snowstorm in dallas, we were stuck at the airport for 12 hours. we did finally leave that night, but by the time we got to vegas, we had missed all of the christmas eve fun and were super exhausted. But, christmas day on was a lot of fun. we spent the first part with the lemmon's. david and diane were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary a few days after christmas and all of the kids and grandkids were there to join in the festivities. all of the kids had spent months planning the event, and it all went really well. we had a great time all being together, it doesn't happen a lot because everyone lives far away from each other. desmond had a great time playing with cousins he never sees, i made me wish we could live closer to everyone.
after we left vegas, jer came back to dallas to start studying for the bar exam and dez and i went on to utah to spend a week with my family. it was a lot of fun catching up with family and friends, we had a wonderful baby shower for holly and ty, who are adopting a baby, and desmond was smothered with attention (which he loved, of course!) we felt so lucky this year to see all of our family, on both sides. we are truly blessed!

thanksgiving (yes, i'm way behind)

i have been a horrible blogger lately. here is an attempt to catch up a bit. thanksgiving this year was wonderful. my mom and dad came and spent a week with us here. we had a great time, we always do. desmond was in heaven having the undivided attention of his grandparents. he loved having them here, they make awesome playmates! thanksgiving dinner was great. mom taught me how to make homemade rolls (which turned out beautifully. thanks to her help), we made a pecan pie from pecans my parents gathered, and shelled from the pecan tree in my front yard (very southern)! and the rest of the thanksgiving staples all turned out delicious. my darling friend reagan and her fiance also joined us for dinner. it was a great time.

halloween and birthday weekend with doll

this year we were lucky to have holly come and stay with us for halloween and my birthday. it was so great. she made it a very special weekend. desmond loved being around her, he always wanted to know where she was. we also had our first experience trick-or-treating with dez. we went with all of his neighbor friends and he had a great time. i think he would have been satisfied with just one sucker, but he was getting into it more by the end. he loved being dressed up as batman, he fought taking the costume off at the end of the night.
holly made a wonderful meal for my birthday, i wish i would have taken pictures of it. jeremy got a picture of the cake. it blew my mind, it was amazing. the girl can cook and bake. everyone was so thoughtful for my birthday, i have the best family ever.

grandma and grandpa lemmon

a couple of weeks ago david and diane came to visit us in dallas. it was great to have them here, and desmond just loved spending time with grandma and grandpa. everywhere he went he would say "come on grandma, come on grandpa." he always wanted them right there. while diane was here desmond started his art class at the science museum and he LOVES it. he loves to draw and paint so this is right up his alley. it was raining a lot that week they were here so we also went to the aquarium for another indoor activity. desmond had more fun just running around on the ramps then seeing the fish.
