Conference Week
I know everyone would rather be hearing from Amy, but she still is not feeling all that great so, there you go. I have added a "Pregnant Amy-isms" section to the page, because she can be just down-right hilarious when she is pregnant and bitter--so enjoy.
Conference weekend was a busy weekend for us. Here is some of what happened.
We re-furnished our bedroom and put a guest room in the basement. Josh wanted to know what you did with a guest room, and I told him it was a place where people could come to stay when the visit Utah. His immediate suggestion was that we get on the phone and invite PJ and Mike Jones, his uncles who live out of state, to come and stay in the room. I started to explain that it might be awkward for PJ and Mike to sleep in the same bed, but then I thought how hilarious it would be, so I'm all for it. Consider it a standing invitation. In any event, Josh was very excited at the prospect of having PJ and Julie or Mike and Steph staying at the house. It did make me think how lucky the boys are to have such great uncles (and aunts) on both sides of the family. They are definitely fortunate.
Conference weekend was wet and rainy. Here is a picture of some of the group on Temple Square before the Priesthood session. Mike, Uncle Richard, Dallin, Grandpa and Greg. Josh spent most of Friday and Saturday building this Lego Ferrari he got for X-mas last year. Apparently it fell apart a couple of times while he was building it. He said, "I felt the tears coming up, but I told myself to calm down and just keep building."
On Sunday, we went to visit Oma and Opa.
Josh, Sadie, Cooper and Jake doing their best to be hilarious.
Opa promised the kids 1 cent for every rotten apple they picked up off the grass.
Josh clocked J in the head with a wood chip. You can see the scratches on his forehead. The next day J went to school and got choked by a girl at recess. He said he wanted to hit the girl, but remembered that I told him we never hit girls. What a good boy. It was alot of drama that included a visit to the principal's office, so the principal could determine the appropriate punishment for the girl. We had a whole family home evening lesson on the appropriate response for a situation where a girl is trying to strangle you. Good times. My opinion is that the girl has a crush on him. He is apparantly quite the ladies' man, and has several girl-friends, one of whom is a Red Sox fan. They have a friendly rivalry going.

Wow
Over conference weekend, the boys and I went to Tooele to visit my grandparents, Opa and Oma. I'll post some pictures of the trip later. But while we were in Tooele, Kimber, my sister, and I started looking through some old photos. I ran across this little gem. That's me, on the far left, and yes my Toughskins are pulled up above my navel, my brother Mike with the Sherriff's badge, my cousin Ryan, and my brother Greg. My favorite part of the picture is Greg's visor. I had one just like it, but green. You can tell that we were excellent fishermen, and even better dressers. I have to say I miss those days; we always had a good time when we went on vacations as a family. So thanks to Mom and Dad and Oma and Opa.

Josh's Post
I went to new york! We got to see so many things! The
flight there was about five hours. We got there at about 10 o,clock. Our hotel room had two small rooms. One was burning, one was cold. My favorite thing about it was when A,Rod hit his 500'th home run. My worst favorite part was when we walked to the museum of natural history.

Losers?
You want to know what's been going on? Relax, I'll tell you what's been going on. Amy has been sick on the couch, and I have been working 14 hour days. How's that? Happy? Good. Now, on to the photos.
Here are some random pictures of the boys in the morning before school. Josh had a scouting activity where they built boats and raced them in raingutters.
Amy is now over 13 weeks pregnant. She is starting to get a little belly--pretty cute girl I must say. She already has names picked, but they are top secret.
Lucy has about 10 friends her age in the neigborhood. Here she is at the church with a few of them. Her best friend, Brooklyn, is on the left in the pink shirt. Lucy is definitely the ring-leader of the group.

And the Yankees made the playoffs for the 13th straight year; you heard me, the 13th straight year. To learn more about the greatest baseball team of all time, you can click on the Yankees link in the links section on this page--you might just learn something (Steve Holland, Dallin Droubay, and PJ Mitchell).

Amy
Amy has been feeling too sick to post anything; so it is up to me to pick up the slack. There hasn't been a whole lot going on. So I thought I would post a day-by-day list of the things that Amy is eating during her pregnancy, because it is just plain freaky. I'll expect Mike to do the same, if he is half the "Sweetie" that Steph claims he is. So, here is the rundown:
Thursday, August 16: I returned from a business trip in Alabama to find the cupboard stocked with Kit-Kats, Licorice, and other Candy Bars. There were four different bags of chips in the pantry (including two different brands of barbecue potato chips--you tell me). In the freezer I found Haagen-Daaz chocolate ice cream, and two different flavors of Pillsbury Toaster Strudels.
Friday, August 17: I got home from work and Amy wanted to go to Wingers to get some wings for dinner. She and the kids had already been to McDonalds where Amy had eaten a Sausage McMuffin for breakfast, and Cafe Rio, where she had eaten a salad for lunch. On the car ride home from Wingers, where she had consumed about 8 wings and a bowl of tortilla soup (that looked to me like vomit), she turned to me and in that desperate Amy voice said, "Okay, I need a Ding Dong right now."
Saturday, August 18: She ate alot of candy bars throughout the day, followed by a filet and a yam for dinner. At the movies, just as the previews were starting and after I'd asked her on the way it if she wanted anything, she demanded popcorn and a Sprite to go along with the bag full of candy she had smuggled into the movie. The Bourne Ultimatum was excellent by the way.
Sunday, August 19: She started things off with a Kit-Kat because, "I didn't want to wait for my toaster strudel to finish." She then ate three bowls of "Trix" cereal. I came home from church to find her lying in bed with a half-eaten loaf of bread next to her. She followed that up with a Subway sandwich and a couple of bags of salt and vinegar potato chips.
So, there you go.

New York, Baby
From August 3 through 7, Josh and Jake, Grandpa D. and I went to New York. We stayed with Mike and Mel, who have been living there for the summer while Mike completes an intership with Citigroup. It was a crazy trip that involved dozens of subway rides and miles of walking. We had a blast and managed to see a Yankees game, Grand Central Station, Times Square, Lincoln Center, Central Park, FAO Schwartz, The Museum of Natural History, Riverside Park, The Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, Grimaldi's Pizza, the Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero, Wall Street, Federal Hall, and probably a few other things I can't remember. Thanks to Mike and Mel for showing us such a great time. The boys had a blast with Tyler, and it was great that we got to do the trip with Dad. Here are a few of the highlights.
First things first, A-Rod was stuck on 499 career home runs for about 10 games before we went. I snapped this picture during the first swing of his first at bat of the game--money. This is number 500. You can see him finishing his swing, the pitcher finishing his motion, and the ball above the pitcher's head. It was great. The boys loved it, and we made friends with total strangers in the celebrations after. Sorry PJ, we didn't make it to Shea. We can see minor league ball here in SLC.
After having pizza at Grimaldi's, we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge back to Manhattan. Josh probably asked 500 questions about the bridge on the way. We covered such topics as the engineering of suspension bridges, why suspension bridges are best for busy waterways, gothic architecture, caissons, caisson disease, and on and on and on. Don't think I wasn't just making answers up by the end. We went back to the apartment later that day and looked some of his questions up on Wikipedia. After the walk, Josh said that New York was a better place to vacation than Disneyland and Hawaii because, "Everything in New York is special and rare." My 9 year old son. He and Jake took the two pictures on the right; they turned out to be pretty good ones.
The cousins in front of the Museam of Natural History. Jake loved it. He wanted me to take pictures of everything inside. He was so well behaved on the trip. We must have walked at least 5-10 miles every day, and he never complained.

At the Stadium. Notice Jake's hair. That kid can sweat like no one's business. And it was hot.

With Mike, Tyler and Dad at Riverside Park
Josh ordered this giant hot dog at Grand Central Station. I told him I'd give him $20 if he could eat the whole thing. He ate all but an inch of it and spent about 1/2 hour in the bathroom later than night on the verge of vomiting it up--classic.
After going to church at Lincoln Center we wait to catch the subway back to Harlem.

Latest news
I don't have any pictures for this post, and it's the fourth time around so it's probably not really big news to any of you, but Jeff and I are very excited! We are officially announcing that I am pregnant!
Some other big news......we have put our house up for sale. We don't know for sure if we are moving or not. We need to sell for a good price and we just heard on the news yesterday that the market has started to slow down in Utah...so we'll see.

Droubay Family Reunion
On July 28 Lucy and I went to the Droubay Family Reunion in Tooele. We started at the cemetary and then had lunch with all of the relatives at the chapel in Erda. I was glad Lucy was with me. Someday it will be great to explain to her what an amazing line of women she is descended from, including: Her great, great-grandmother, Annie Droubay.
Her great, great, great, great-grandmother, Josephine Appollinaire Droubay, who joined the church in France and moved to the United States with her husband, Pierre.
Lucy by the grave of John Rowberry, whose daughter married Pierre Droubay's son. He was a busy man. You have to enlarge it to see all of the things he accomplished in his lifetime.
