My Labor and Delivery and Andrew's 2 Week Check Up!

I know this is a lot in one post, but I have been really busy and I haven't really been in the mood to post until now. To give a quick story of my labor and delivery, my water broke 1 am on Saturday February 4th, 2012. I was delirious because I got up to go pee and I thought I had peed my pants. I was so tired I changed my clothes and got back into bed. Again I thought I peed my pants so I got up and went to the bathroom again. This time a little bit more alert I stood up and realized water was still coming down my leg. I called for Jeff telling him my water broke. He was also delirious because when he looked at me and the puddle of water on the carpet he first stated, "Are you sure?" and then said, "Okay I guess we are having a baby." We grabbed everything that I piled together in the corner that was supposed to be an emergency bag and I put on new clothes, which was probably pointless because I was dripping water all the way to the hospital with a towel in between my legs in the front seat of the car and arrived at the hospital at 1:30am. I was admitted into the hospital and that's when the contractions started. When I was admitted they checked to see how dilated I was and of course I was at a 0. I finally got the epidural around 4am and waited. 19 and a half hours later and 40 minutes of pushing, Andrew Kazuki Harris came into the world.

Grandma Grace came and helped out the family for an entire week. THANK YOU GRANDMA!! We love you.

I can't believe Andrew is already two weeks old. Because I didn't post when he was born here are his birth stats:

Name: Andrew Kazuki Harris

Born: 02-04-12 at 9:11 pm

Birth Weight: 8 lbs 0 oz

Length: 21 inches long

Discharge weight: 7 lbs 6 oz

At the hospital, Andrew had jaundice pretty bad. He had to stay in the hospital an

extra day, get extra blood work done when he was four, six, and eight days old, and be in a bili-bed all day on Saturday at home. When he was tested on Sunday his bili numbers went down significantly. We were very happy. We were even crazy enough to attend sacrament that afternoon.

We had our 2 week check up today and here are his current stats:

Head Size: 35.5 centimeters (18th percentile)

Weight: 9 lbs 1 0z (56th percentile)

Length: 21 in (59th percentile)

On average he has been gaining about 2 oz a day since his last doctors appointment on 02-08, which he was at 7 lbs 10.5 oz. His weight gain average is in the 3rd percentile range, which according to the doctor is really good considering his goal was to be at his birth weight by 2 weeks. The doctor was very pleased with his numbers and even said he is a very healthy boy.
