Only in London...
Boris Johnson, the new London Mayor, banned drinking on public transportation effective 1 June 2008. So, as a civilized and first class city, how else would Londoners react to the ruling?
No more smoking indoors, no more drinking on the tube -- at this rate, I might even consider extending my stay ;)

I can't find anything
My sister, brother-in-law and nephew are here visiting. We landed in London this morning and spent the afternoon/evening at home. I tried to get some work work done whilst they took turns napping, including Jared.
When Bill went down for his 3 hour "power nap", Ga decided she wanted to help clean up all our stuff that was everywhere. What she actually did was rearrange my entire flat -- furniture and storage units in the living/dining room, bathroom and landing; and "organize" all my things in each of those rooms.
You know where this is going. Remember in uni when you dreaded the day your parents would visit cause mom would "clean" and in the process put away all your things in places that you would never think to look? Yeah, I can't find anything now =) Ga organizes by placing similar items together. I organize by placing the most used items in the most convenient and intuitive places. Slightly different approach!!!
Bill sat there laughing and shaking his head at us. I'm going to be the silly nut who rings her sister in the middle of the night to ask where she placed XYZ in my flat. At least TO is 5 hours behind London, so I can always call her late in the evening!
Too funny, my sister is a nut =)

I'm really still here...
I know, I don't blog regularly. I don't even blog irregularly. But every once in awhile, I remember it's here -- and I can figure out my password.
I also really am still in the UK. Won't be here forever, but for now, I still live in my little London flat. But it's always good to go home. It's even more special when old friends are around.
This last trip home was really special.
I always miss my TO friends, and it's really good to come home and see everyone and catch up -- EY, Waterloo, high school, grade school, TCBC, even the crazy (almost all ex-EY) Chinese girls, and even play chauffeur for the day ;). I got to entertain my bubbly nephew, who's gotten HUGE since the last time I saw him over Christmas. In addition to all that, this trip had a couple other highlights.
In years gone by, ILC, GY and I had annual vacations to far flung destinations like NYC, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Since we decided to live on three different continents, these vacations have somehow turned into random meetings in any combination of continents, sometimes in pairs and sometimes even all three of us. So it was especially wonderful to come home to share in ILC's joy of marrying her soulmate, and to witness the start of the next chapter in her life, surrounded by all her loved ones. And our bridesmaid dresses were really really nice!
It was also really exciting to meet GY's special friend. Sometimes when you can sense how two people just "fit" (or "click" haha), it's really amazing and you can't help but feel so joyful for them. That and pester them about moving onto the next chapter of life! Anyone want to start a pool? I'm so terrible... =)
I even *finally* managed to meet up with R&C. R is my closest uni classmate, and holds the dubious honour of the one who got me through university. To be more precise, he used to give me wake up calls and then come pick me up for class (even though I lived 5 mins walk from campus), and he'd also attempt to keep me conscious during class. I'm still not a morning person. Our respective sleep patterns worked out great for all our projects -- I was on night shift, and would work until 2am, email the files to him, and he'd be up by 5am and do a ton of work before picking me up for class. Talk about time efficiency in job sharing! The last time I saw R was the summer before I moved to London, when I spent a couple days in Pembroke. I can't even remember when was the last time I saw C! It was really good to see them again, nothing like Tim Horton's, Chinese dumplings, and good conversation with old friends.
Last but certainly not least, one of the great things about coming home for weddings is that other old friends who have also moved away from Toronto will also come home. I've known G since we were born -- there's a photo of our respective parents holding us at our baby dedications at TCBC during the Christmas service the year we were born. We were home for the same two weddings, and both being on vacation, it meant we could hang out during the day, when everyone else was working. Being an old friend, there's no need for formalities. Not only was it a good chance to get caught up on where life has taken both of us so far, but where in the world we would both be, at least in the no-so-distant near future. We even had an amusing trip down memory lane about the "old house". Us kids spent a lot of time at the old house, and it was so good to remember all the crazy and stupid things we used to do as kids -- and would possibly do again now!
So all in all, really great trip home. Hope to see everyone again sooner rather than later!
