Count Your Many Blessings

Today was a 'count your many blessings' day. I was so spiritually edified in every meeting at church and it was well needed. I was in a drought, if you will.. not by the Lord's will, but by me not seeing my many blessings. Satan is great at discouraging me like that. As a mother, I feel as if we're consistently trying to do our best to love our children and rear them in righteousness no matter how frustrated we can become.. and my OCD does not help the matter either, because if I don't have everything 'just so' the way I pictured it, I become more frustrated. Why is it as young women we always dreamed of growing up marrying the most perfect person, and life wasn't ever hard and we lived in shiny castles with pretty ponies, and we had perfect children that always looked adorable and never got dirty?? Wow. then reality sets in and we realize that we, our kids, nor family are perfect. And the minute we are not holding up that perfect image, life begins to crumble...which is so silly. What a waste of time. life is the way it is, because its the way God intended it to be, and that we are all here to learn and grow from each other. We are here to learn how to become perfect.. that's why today was so great.. I had a wonderful reminder that as long as we are striving and continually trying to be better then we were the day before, that is all God asks of us. He knows that we aren't perfect, and as long as we try to be near him and be prayerful in all we do, it'll be okay. Our house doesn't have to be spic and span, and its okay to ask for help. I'm always trying to be super women...but as I do, I start hating the whole process and lose sight of what matters.. Letting my family help is a great thing, and if I do it lovingly they will learn to love helping me when I ask. I love my Heavenly Father for answering all my prayers today. It was a wonderful and eye opening day. Sorry for the novel.. I just had to let it out.. because 'my cup runneth over' as my mama says... :) Which I think it the perfect saying, it perfectly describes all the love we feel from Heavenly Father and our families... because their, and His love does runneth over. It never ceases to exist. Which is a beautiful thing. :)

Beautiful Day at the Park

Today was a beautiful day March 3, 2013. We got a taste of spring today. I think if it snows again, I may cry. Laugh out loud!! No really, I will!!! You can't bring winter back after I've experienced such happiness!!! There's an awesome park off of the Spanish Fork Canyon/Price exit. They have all these climbing obstacles and rock climbing walls, teeter totters (spelling?) i dont know??.. and they even have these swings that look like porch swings, but they are individual chairs.. so fun, and they have these tulip look alike stools, so the top part spins...oh the kids had so much fun on those!!! This park is also right next to a splash park. And its free!! So its basically just a huge cement area with a bunch of fountains that shoot from the ground....its so fun!! And they just built a Costco right by it, so you can do shopping after you play or before and use the park as a reward system!! It's a win win!! Its a great park!! I highly recommend you going there!!! Here are some fun photos of the kiddos playing with Aunt Maddie and her girls Macy & Makayla.. What a day!!

Valentines Day

Did I ever mention how much I love my Jays? He is the sweetest husband father that I ever would've dreamed up for my family.. He plays with the kids, tells me to go take a ride when I need a break and loves me unconditionally..Then tells me hoe pretty I look everyday...gosh... What more could a girl want? I love him to death,, and I'm so grateful for him,, He's my rock.. and thank heavenly father everyday for having him for my husband!! And then he goes and brings me flowers on Valentines, even though I tell him not too, cause they cost money..lol I hate seeing money die like that unless its in my garden.. :) And then he explains that he got these flowers because they're more special then roses... They're colorful and happy like me...gosh, I get choked up just writing about it... I love him.. He's a keeper!! This year June will be our 9 anniversary...wow...time sure is a flying!!!

Busy Day

Exhaustion doesn't even begin to describe yesterday and today...whew.. so glad to be sitting on my rump..lol.. I got a cake order, and honestly I don't take many cake orders now that I'm repairing car interiors on a weekly basis..but for some odd reason, I thought why not?? I think a part of my brain forgot how long of a process it takes, so apparently I needed a little refresher course. Cakes are so time consuming!!! Its a 3 day process...I make all the fondant the 3rd day before, then on the second day I bake all the cakes, and then finally on the day before, I assemble and decorate the cakes.. Well, Monday was busy so I had to skip the fondant process so everything got pushed to the 2nd day before delivery and day of... so all day yesterday I backed 5 cakes and made 3 batches of fondant.. which they're 3 inch deep cakes, so they each take an hour to bake, then the fondant takes 45 minutes because you have to knead it like bread dough until its the right consistency.. so that pretty much took the majority or 2nd day... but once it hit 6 at night, I had promised my sweet sister Jamie that I'd come visit her in salt lake so I went up to visit her until 9:30 and then headed home... so there was a few hours of break time.. Once I got home, I started to feel the stress settle in that I had to delivery this cake tomorrow at noon!!! EEK!!! So, I said to myself, might as well get as much done tonight before while the kiddos are sleepin'!!! And that's what I did!! I stayed up til 1:40 a.m. decorating 2 of the 4 cakes...ugh...can you say Sluggish!!! Why do I do this to myself?? Why did I agree to such torture? I dunno... I guess I like self punishment!!! Either way, I still needed to finish it, so I got the kids to school and got to work!!! Baked one more cake, made more frosting....rolled the fondant out and smoothed it over the cakes... etc etc etc... Once 10 a.m. rolled around, I really was starting to freak out!!! Luckily, my mama stopped by and saved my bacon.. she helped me SOOO MUCH!!! If it weren't for her, I would be driving to the girls house in cedar hills delivering the cake right before the party started!! I hate doing that... I've done it once before and I promised myself that I'd never cut it that close... so after all that I delivered the cake to her at 12:45... only 15 minutes late, and she was really happy to see the cake!! Whew!! Then off to normal car repairing jobs!!! Dang, doesn't this day end? Dropped the girls at Robbins house, repaired one car, picked up Donnie then picked up girls and then plopped down on this here chair.. and spent!! So, after all that, here's the cake... tell me what you think?

My Goal

One of my goals for this year is to blog more often so that I can print off my blog at the end of each year for my kids scrapbook.. I recently looked back on some digital scrap-booking pages that I made for my kiddos, only to find that they were gone..yep. ~sigh~ All that work gone. It actually made me physically sick for a few hours. That was before we got our external hard-drive and I backed everything up on it... Grrr. So, here's to a fresh start on getting back into the groove of scrap-booking again. I was looking through old photos and it was so crazy to see how much my kids have grown and how much they are similar and different at the same time...so I will be posting a series of photos of all three kids at the same age for comparison... fun huh?? This series will focus on them being 18 months...and I always hear how much my kids look a like, but once I line up their ages, they really all have their own look. My girls both have the really light blonde hair, but honestly Tay and Donnie are more similar then my girls are... but they all have Jayson's cute button nose :) which makes me very happy, I prayed that my children would never get my nose, laugh out loud!! Kaleah definitely had the most hair, but then again its hard to know, since big sister Kaleah gave her, her first hair cut!! :( Its finally starting to come in again, thank goodness.
And I couldn't help myself, but look at this photo of Donnie when he had glasses....he was so stinkin cute...he was almost 4 in this photo, when we lived in Boise Idaho.

Kaleah is 5!

Kaleah my doll turned 5 on Jan 9!!...where has the time gone...She will be starting kindergarten in the fall and I can hardly believe it.... its just not fair. It's come too fast, and poor Taylee will be so sad, that her buddy will be gone more and more during the day.. Now I can understand why people have more children. They are such great playmates, also fighting, but they are the best of friends... its fun to watch them... On a happy note, Lela is 5, and we had a lot of fun celebrating. Her birthday fell on Wednesday this year so we went to Nickle City,
and she happened to love the merry-go-round the best. She rode it probably 12 times..laugh out loud. I thought at this stage she'd like an older kid game, but I love that she still loves this ride. I made just a pink 4 inch double layer cake for us, as a family to share that night. We also made little mini cupcakes for her preschool class, they turned out so cute...
Her friend & Extended family party was celebrated Saturday, Jan 12th. We all went sledding and had so much fun!! Her friends Tia Mullen, Preslee Perkins, & Lola from preschool cam,e along with her cousins, Macy, Makayla, Aneesa, Sai, MeaLani & parents... I love to watch Keleah & Donovan while they are sledding they hike up that hill so fast to go down it as many times as possible!! They would set they're saucer on the ground and run and jump on it to get going faster!! They love the snow!! Miss Taylee, who is currently 21 months, does not love the snow so far, she is not a huge fan of the cold. The poor little thing sat and shivered the whole time until daddy took her to the truck where Grandma & Grandpa Mortenson watched her, even then she was not happy about being cooped up in the truck, I don't think she knew what she wanted...and she certainly didn't want to go sledding...she screamed all the way down the hill and then as soon as we stopped she repeatable called over and over again, "OFF, OFF, OFF!!!" Jays tried to see if he could get her to go down again and she cried so loud and hard, so we never pressed the matter again... maybe when she's older. lol... or not..
After sledding we went back to our house, and I feel bad every one was squished inside our house, but I wanted everyone to be there...I just want to have these parties where we have enough room to visit and be comfortable, but that's okay, someday. We sang happy birthday and got to eat some cake!! I'm so proud of this cake, I must confess, it was a triple layered chocolate cake with chocolate ganache in between each layer, and then mint flavored buttercream frosting on top, with purple fondant, and fondant flowers all over it, with a "My Little Pony" on top... it was darling..but, I'm mostly proud of the taste. A lot of times my cakes can be a titch dry because it has to be dense enough to not crumble apart when I frost it, otherwise it show so many imperfections, and the fondant just isn't pretty on top of that mess. Fondant is unforgivable when it comes to bumps on cakes.
