Singing in conference

Rebecca and Luc had an awesome opportunity to sing with a children's choir at the LDS General Conference. They performed during the Saturday afternoon session in between inspirational talks from from our apostles and general authorities.

Lawon at the Conference Center

They spent weeks practicing the songs and had an inside look in the conference center.
Plus the got to sing Head Shoulders Knees and Toes in the choir seats.

It's been a long time.....

What a summer

Camping

And even a Mowhawk

With all of this we jumped into school and let the blog go by.  So here is my attempt to add a little something.

Havasu Hike

Jay, Luc and I went on a hike down to Havasu Falls on the Havasupai Reservation in Arizona this past June.  It was an incredible trip.  My big brother set it all up.  My dad, six of my sibling and some of their spouses, family and friends came along.  It was a fun group to hang out with. We hiked down into the canyon for about 10 miles and made it to a beautiful camp spot.  The hike down was so beautiful as the sun came up.

We had fun hanging out at the Havasu, Navajo and Mooney Falls.  We even hiked down to Beaver Falls about a 7 mile hike into the Grand Canyon.  I think everyone jumped off a cliff or rock (me, small rock).  The port-a-poties were very gross!  That is my least favorite part of camping.  The guys had fun trying to start our picnic table on fire without a match.  Alas, they did not succeed.  Luc earned $5 throwing water on one of the big guys.  Jay broke a toe and everyone got bruises and scratches.  It was a blast!

The hike out was pretty tough at the end with switch backs out of the canyon for 1/2 mile with 30lbs. pack on.  I felt so awesome when I got to the top!  I made it!  I think everyone was grateful to be at the top.  Our group meet at In & Out Burger when we reached Kingman, AZ.  That was the best burger I have had!  I think it was because I was hungry and sick of ramen and beef jerky.  This trip will always be a great memory.

I've been Tagged!

Thanks for tagging me, Nicole. Now I have pressure to think of creative things and do a blog. I have been so lazy with my blog, lately. Now about being tagged.
The Rules:
List 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 surprising facts and then tag 5 other people. Leave a comment of the people you tag so that they realize that they have been tagged.

OKAY! I'll try to be honest and creative.

Joys:
1. my sexy husband
2. my great kids, especially when they give me wonderful hugs
3. reading a great book
Fears:
1. losing one of my children or my husband (can't live without them)
2. falling off of a high place- rock climbing is not relaxing!
3. running a 5K race and tripping 2 feet before the finish line - embarrassing!
Current Obsessions/Collections:
1. my collection of things that I will put into my scrapbook someday (i.e. school paper/awards, race numbers, ticket stubs, funny quotes - just to name a few)
2. my obsession with my hair bangs not looking the way I want them to.
3. I collect craft/sewing projects that I never complete or get so frustrated with that I just abandon them.

Surprising Facts:
1. I am completely deaf in my right ear since I was about 2 years old, result of scarlet fever.
2. I'm a dog person. I love my dog! I got my puppy in January and she is a big, lovable, stinky, chews on everything dog. I swore I would NEVER get a dog.
3. I was in a child beauty pageant when I was 5 & 6 years old. I won an award- Miss Photogenic. If you see my pictures now you would never know that I use to be photogenic. Age did that to me. Be kind about the pictures, it was the beginnings of the 80's.

Soggy 5K Run!

Jay, Rebecca & I ran the Springville 5K run on Saturday. We woke up to rain and it didn't let up until the race was over. It wasn't too bad to run in, but COLD when we stopped and stood around talking. Running this race is a fun family tradition that we do with some of my siblings and my mom. This year we arrived too late and heard the gun go off as we were jogging up to the starting line. We had to weave through every mom walking their kids and the slooooowwww people. This was Rebecca's first 5K and she did excellent. She ran the whole way and no complaining. I'm not divulging our time because we started late and I'm embarrassed how slow I am. I'm too competitive. Sorry, no picture. I was too cold and wet to care.
