Slice of thumb
On monday morning I was all geared up to get the house clean and have a good week. I was doing dishes and was trying to get glue off of my plate stand with a knife. Of course I knew that was a dumb idea but that didn't stop me and a few seconds later the knife slipped and went into my hand. I rinsed if and covered it but I couldn't get a hold of jake so I went to charlottes house bc she is a nurse. And when jake came to take me to the instances she even watched the kids. So sweet of her. They basically just cleaned it and gave me a bandaid. 6 days later it is almost healed but still bruised and sore. I guess even adults do stupid things even when they know they shouldn't. I shouldn't get so frustrated with Chayla when. She does things even though she knows she shouldn't. Like running into the street ugh

Giles is sitting
Giles is 9 months old and he has really been growing in the motor skills department this month. In the past few weeks he has learned how to sit up by himself, army crawl - he pushes with his tiptoes on his belly , and get on his hands and knees. He can't quite crawl (unless you count moving backwards
but he's close. Today he was rocking back an forth and kept pulling his knees in closer to his arms but that made him unbalanced and he did a face plant. he also got his 5th tooth this month. It makes his smile a little funny because he has 2 on top and 3 on bottom.
He is still a very happy kid. He seems to be more conversational lately. If you talk to him he will say Manama or babababa or dada dada. He loves songs and always starts clapping when he hears singing. He also thinks its really funny if you scrunch up your face and shake your head. Not sure why but it makes him laugh.

Funny names
Jacob took Chayla o the park a few times last week. One time they were going down the slide at the "pirate ship" park and she said that she was Captain Chayla Spiderman Papa! She makes up the funniest things sometimes. This weekend was conference and she wanted to be the prophet. What a sweetheart.

My perfect birthday
Yesterday was my birthday And just have to tell you haw perfect it was. Jacob spoiled me rotten. He took the day off work which was a present by itself to have him home. He got up with the kids and let me sleep in. I took full advantage of that and slept until after 9:00. Well of course I was up at 6:50 to feed Giles but I went back to sleep no problemo.
After showering and dressing and beautifying we headed out for some family adventures. First to cafe rio - my fav - for a big lunch since all I had eaten for breakfast was an orange. I like the word 'adventures' because to me it means that the outing will have its little challenges but that's part of the fun. Well lunch was incredible. Their pork salads are so good. The poor boys though. Chayla spilled a whole cup of water in Jacob's lap and Giles drooled most of his drinks down the front of his shirt. So we left a little wet bit with happy tummies.
Next we headed over to BYU for adventure 2 - parking. Have you ever parked at byu? It's awful. Well it turns out that there is visitor parking right in front of the MOA that we have actually used before but it still took about 15 min of frustrated driving around to get there. The exhibit we went to see is called Heroes and Monsters and it was a lot of fun. Chayla wanted to touch everything of course. She was especially excited to see spiderman and superman. My favorite pieces were the ones that showed parents as superheroes and superheroes as parents. One painting had a mom dressed as superman holding a little boy with the words for laundry, dishes and housework on the sides. Another one showed snow white and prince charming in a normal living room with 4 kids , TV on, toys on the floor, chip on the table and snow holding 2 babies in diapers. I also liked the monster exhibit that talked about monsters being misunderstood and heroes being the monsters to the monsters. Interesting.
It was really fun to be on campus and we let Chayla run around for a minute with some neighbors who happened to be in the courtyard outside.
Then we went home for adventure #3 - Naptime. We wrestled Chayla into her pajamas, read her a story, got Giles down, and snuggled up on the couch for an afternoon nap. We all slept for about 2 hours. It was another great birthday present.
We played with the kids for a while and then Jacob made whole wheat waffles for dinner at my request. And chocolate chocolate chip cookies with cookies and cream. Yum! What a great day. Thanks honey.

My Sunshines
They are all my Sunshines and add so much light and happiness to my life! And speaking of sunshine - it was so warm this past week. We went to the park or played outside almost everyday. I absolutely love spring.

My sweet girl
I need to write down a few of our fun memories lately. These are in no particular order.
Today 2-20-2013
(ree=really)
I had tied some pink tulle around a spiderman toy. Chayla lights up and takes it. She says "that's so ree ree, (pause) ree yours". She couldn't find the word she wanted and it was kinda cute. She uses really quite often as substitute for cool or neat or fun. She will say things like "this is a ree ree puzzle"
Later while we were eating lunch I was texting and she said "be done with your phone please mommy". It was such a sweet reminder that she wanted my attention and I need to put my phone away more. So I did. I stuck it behind a book and got up to grab my food. Right after I left he table she looks at me, reaches for my phone and with a sly smile says "I'm gonns play a game on your phone". He had tricked me!
That reminds me of a moment a few nights ago. She was cooking 'dinner' for jake and I. She brings him a bowl with toys and tells him it is his scoop. Then asks if I want 1 scoop. (she repeated it about 10x even though I was responding). She goes and comes back with an empty bowl. She gives me this sorry no more look and then after a moment pulls some toys from behind her back and smiles bc she tricked me. What a silk goose. I don't know where she is learning this stuff from.
Probably from me :)
She will say things that I know I say all the time. Just yesterday out of nowhere she said "goodness gracious". Or she will trellis a wiggly Giles "don't kick people" I better be more careful about what I say.
Last week 2-16 we had Kaidrei and malea over while Brian and LeAnn went to thei ultrasound. The girls were all sitting at the table and Chayla said "that's my mommy Kaidrei. See? That's my mommy.". It may sound silly but I started to tear up. She as actually claiming me when a lot if time do feel like she doesn't like me. Moms always have to be the 'bad guy' all day long when it comes to discipline. Anyways, it was a happy moment.
