Get well soon Ah por!

Its been a month plus since Grandma fell down, and had her right thigh fractured. About a week into the fall and after much discussion, she had an operation on her thigh, so as to allow the fracture to heal in a shorter time.
Taking her age into consideration (87 years old now), it was risky to operate on her. Plus, she had quite an unstable blood pressure, and has fractured her other leg some years ago. Luckily, after a few days and much observations, Doctors are optimistic about her being operated! :)

Without the operation, she will have to let the bones heal by themselves, and that's quite a feat as she is not young any more. Naturally, her bones will be more brittle and less healthy compared to young people. An average young adult will probably take 2-3 months to heal, what more an old lady? Im glad that the operation went well and smooth!

Throughout the 1 month stay in the hospital, she was really listless and stressed. Seeing different people getting warded and discharged didnt do her any good. She started to talk rubbish, saying she's useless/mad/stupid blah blah blah, and asking when is her turn to discharge. I guess it must be bored and frustrating for her because she cant even move her legs. Everything has to be relied on the nurses/doctors or whoever visiting her.
She refused to eat or drink much as she did not want to bother the nurses to change her diaper lest she soiled it. (she has no way to get to the toilet, thus having to wear adult diapers.) It was quite hard for us to coax her to have some food. Without food, where can she get energy and nutrients to recover?

Im glad that Grandma is now out of the hospital since a week ago! A pity that she cant come home yet, but having to stay at the nursing home as she has to do physiotherapy daily. Hopefully her legs strengthen soon and she is able to walk with the assistance of a walking crutch/stick. It must be really hard on her to suffer such pain at this age.

Please get well soon! Praying that she is healthy and happy everyday.
Love love!

December

on 30nov, i was doing a night flight which lands me into singapore on 1st Dec.
then it stroke me.

IT IS ALREADY DECEMBER?!?!?!?!

and for that moment, i was scared. and shocked. and worried. and unhappy.

days come and go, events that are looked forward to (and seemed really distant away) just zoomed past.
and what constructive things have i done this year? sad to say, very minimal.
i am growing older, and hopefully wiser. i must remind myself, though hard to remember and admit, that my parents/grandparents are getting older and older too.

2012 has been a really quick year.
i remembered last year my cousin announced her marriage and said that she's gonna have her banquet end of the year. i remembered thinking to myself, wah, thats like in a really loooonnnnnng time. but! its fast past and over now. my friend who just announced her pregnancy.. her baby is already 3 months old now!

i believe flying does play a part in making time flies (oh the pun!). how easily the night passes while i am flying back home, or the half day that brought me from singapore to say... new zealand?
when i am on the plane, the time seems to pass really quickly.. i think its due to the overwhelming work duties, not forgetting the never ending ad-hoc orders and requests by the passengers. by walking up and down the aisle a hundred time definitely makes the time goes faster.

however, there are also times where all the passengers are asleep, and i sit at the empty crew seat, waiting for the time to start a meal service or for the long awaited pilot's announcement that signifies the desending of the plane, ie, WE ARE THERE announcement. these times, the minutes and seconds seem to CRAWL.... and CRAWL... and i will be trying to look for things to do to prevent myself from nodding away.

soon, it will be my birthday (hooray! finally 24 then!) and christmas. and 2013 will be here. i hope this December crawls and go pass really s.l.o.w.l.y so that i can fully enjoy 2012 and make full use of whats left of 2012.

till then.

Sharon's wedding (4th nov)

attended yet another wedding dinner yesterday at the Marriot Hotel.
it was my cousin's (i know, i have a great number of them) wedding.

  the cute wedding car.

CONGRATS TO ALVIN AND SHARON!

 bridesmaid VS brothers

there were 13 of us, in blue and pink!
can u see me? hehehehe

i woke up at 4.15am to prepare for the big day!
had fun torturing the 10 brothers and and groom.

it was an epic moment when all their angbaos were snatched by us.
literally grab and run.

one of the brothers had the 'real' angbao which contained $1000 in his chest pocket, and my cousin Ivy just snatched it away.
the groom panicked and exclaimed at his brother: HOW! I NO MORE ANGBAO LIAO!!! WHY U KEEP IN YOUR CHEST POCKET !!!

we were more than happy though.
1000$ into our bridesmaid fund!
hahahahaha.

arriving at Marriot after the morning ceremony.

paid for makeup and hairdo to be done at the hotel, but sad to say, the hair was so badly done, i had to take it off and tie it on my own.
i merely wanted a volumised 'hump' on my head, and a high ponytail with a little curl at the end of the hair.
FAILED MAXIMUM
it was so bad that i didnt take a photo of it.
SO SO SO BAD
the little curl at the end was like a hay and that lady curled my whole pony tail into several locks of hair. wtf.

so, i tied my work hairdo and my cousins all exclaimed: YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE. THIS IS MUCH BETTER!

OOTD (night) was bought from Far East, a day before the wedding.
super last minute, and i thought i couldnt get any nice dresses at all.
hehe.
the shoes lagi best, bought a few hours before the dinner started.

(initially i thought i had a pair of shoes at home which i could match with the dress, but meh, the shoes totally didnt match the dress at all, so i had to rush to get the shoes on the actual day.)

luckily it was in town and near to Far East, so i popped by when i reached the hotel.

handful of the bridesmaid of the day, all prepared for the dinner!

mummy, dad and i at the photobooth station

boyfie and i !

ah por and I

mummy and I (and a peek of my super tall gold heels.)

at the yum seng ceremony on the stage.
you cant see me but i was there.
this photo is so well taken and edited by my cousin's (another one) hubby.
Jayden (my cousin's, yet another one, cheeky son!)

mad adults with all their drinks.

in this family, the children stop their parents from over drinking, not vice versa.
the parents are much more havoc and hiong at drinking, compared to the younger generation!

all my cousins and i were like: aiyo, dunno who are those people. not my parents ah!

 1st and 3rd generation.
my other 2 cousins who are married with kids.

in this photo, there are only 3 of us who are not married nor have kids yet.
the rest are all married with kids!!!
when i grow up i wanna be like them, got kids liao still so pretty and slim!

i am looking forward to attending yet another wedding dinner, which belongs to my bestie Suelin on 18th nov.
till then, TATA!

busy

been busy during my offdays nowadays.. not with shopping, but with exploring new baking and cooking recipes, as well as making crafts.

sometime ago, i tried baking the rainbow cupcake which looked so pretty from the photos i saw off the internet.

initially i wanted to do something like that:

but that would mean that i have to bake the layers one by one, then stacking them on top of each other. which means it will take a lot of time and effort. and i dont have the patience i think.

  nah... too much effort.

thus, i decided to just pour the coloured batter into a cupcake paper, starting from the middle.
every new colour will start from the middle of the previous colour, so it turned out like this:

the interior of the cupcake after it is baked.
isnt the colours pretty?

this way i save loads of time and effort, and the colours are so vibrant.
each cupcake is different so the surprise factor is there as well.

made some tinier ones as well.
these had less colour in each cupcake, still! they look so adorable and happy-to-look-at!

_______________

tried my hands on lava molten cake as well..
erm. failed.
because it wasnt 'wet' enough on the inside.
i felt that the chocolate did not seem to flow out as much as i would like them to.
however i managed to cheat my way around, and got the melted chocolate interior...

how?

i stuck a whole solid piece of chocolate inside the cake, and baked it a little further.
as such the chocolate melted and there!
i had the flowy lava effect.
haha!

(no photos though. the cake was just brown and dark and ugly looking)

_______________

 tried baking soft cookies too.
what i had in mind was like the ones that Subway has.
chewy in the middle and crispy on the outside?

well. .. . i failed too.
the cookies' texture felt more like sponge cakes..
other wise those that i baked slightly longer just tasted like normal crunchy cookies.
i need to figure where i did wrong.
:(

_______________

dishes that i have tried cooking so far:

herbal chicken, mapo tofu, honey chicken wings, portobello mushrooms with ham, claypot chicken rice.

i think im happiest with the turnout of the herbal chicken.
i need to learn more recipe and try to cook more!

_______________

my xmas cards are almost ready.
few days ago i helped to make a 'Promise Board' for my cousin's upcoming wedding.
i have another one to make for suelin's wedding!

weddings

weddings are such happy occasions!

attended Wanting's wedding at the Mandarin Orchard Hotel.
am so glad for her!
she found herself a  '24孝好好老公' !

her hubby's thank you speech was so hilarious.

he said: "to my parents-in-law, thank you for entrusting WanTing to me.
Dont worry, I wouldnt let her bully me.
and to my empress, i wanna say 3 words to you.
DONT BULLY ME"

LOL.
epic speech because we all know that WanTing is a hubby bullier and her hubby loves her so much that he just listens and fulfills her every request.

WanTing and i.
her pom pom dress makes her look like Barbie Doll!

during the 1st march in, her hubby and her SANG while slowly walking in.
sooooo touching can.
and so romantic.
great tactic to capture everyone's attention too.

Abby and i

(actually i dont like to take photos with WanTing, cos her neh so big. and actually, i dont like to take photos with Abby too, cos her eyes so big.)
:(

hmmm
next time my wedding i need to like somersault in or sth.
if not nobody pay attention to me.
muahahaha!

Tokyo Disneysea

prepare for a truckload of photos thats coming up in this entry.
its all about my 1day trip in Tokyo Disneysea!

was mad excited that i forced myself to sleep earlier such that i could wake up in time for the trip.
glad there was a free bus that the hotel provided that brings us straight to Disneyland/sea! how nice. it would be pretty far for us to take a train, time consuming too. furthermore, the shuttle is free! =D

my outfit for that day.
it was really hot in Japan at that moment, so i decided that sleeveless and shorts + comfy shoes are the best combi.
however so, it was SCORCHING hot!
i am v sure i had a slight sunburn after the entire day.

excited much. Disneysea is a childhood dream come true!

finally!!! WE ARE HERE after a 45mins bus ride.

 tickets + map checked!
(6200Y is prolly about 99sgd for a day's ticket)

all our tickets! with 5 different disney characters.

entire map

 first character that i 'caught'.
literally have to catch them cos loads of people are trying to take photos with them and the characters keep moving around.

 minnie mouse headband.
which i told myself i will buy.
but i didnt in the end.
(note: background full of DUFFY!)
Duffy(in yellow) and Shelliemay(in red) dressed in Halloween costumes, because Halloween is nearing!

[Duffy bear's FYI: The Duffy character was exclusive to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort until he made his official debut at the Disneyland Resort on October 14, 2010.

The story begins on the night before Mickey was to embark on the high seas for a long voyage.
Minnie crafted a cute little teddy bear she snuck him into Mickey's duffle bag as a surprise memento to remember her while he was on his trip. Mickey named the bear "Duffy" after the dufflebag in which he found him and they became the best of friends.

In January of 2010, Shellie-May debuted as Duffy's friend. Shellie-May's introduction included her own line of clothing and accessories.]

Duffy and Shelliemay
Duffy has brown eyes and Shelliemay has blue!

 halloween decorations

the new area in Disneysea - Toysville

 i love buttercup!

Queuing up for a terror tower ride.
which involved sitting in a 'lift' and zooming up and down, in pitch darkness.

i love how the Japanese dress up to go to Disney.
they are so so so into it!

the halloween hat is so cute!

 caught Marie!

this lady is a true blue Duffy fanatic!
look at her bag full of Duffy in different outfits! this means that she has visited disneysea many many times, as Duffy only changes his outfit after a period of time.

lunch time while watching the performance 'My Friend Duffy'

well, they all spoke in Japanese.
so..... i dont know what they were blabbering about the entire time.
-_-

found a group of cute and enthusiastic school girls!
KAWAII!

 another grp of Duffy Fanatics.
they actually brought their OWN duffy bears decked in the latest Halloween outfits, and arrange them nicely with the Halloween decorations so that they can take a photo of their bears.

 their 5 duffy bears.

the XL duffy bears, similar to the photo above.
its selling at 55,000Y. which is like almost 900SGD.
FOR ONE.
siao boh...?

 loads more cutesy stuff!

i bought a Shelliemay, which is a bag accessory with a little zipper compartment.

 so cute!
a little boy in mickey outfit.

 weather was super hot!
having ice cream is damn shiok.

 yums too!

by that time the heat has already cause my hair to be in a mess!

i look super tanned in here.

we went for this Sinbad ride too.

again, every thing was in Japanese, so we merely just looked and enjoyed the cooling aircon.

 at Ariel's castle

 everything is so pretty!

 one of the shows

 my beary keychains!
even their paw prints are in mickey shapes!

see, i told u they really dressed up for Disney.

i really wanted to buy them.
but its like 60SGD for one.
*puts them back on the shelf*

 can be cuter or not?!

the night show. sort of like the finale.
with fireworks and all.!

it was about the closing time for Disneysea, but we had to wait for the shuttle to bring us back to the hotel, thus we loitered around the merchandise shops and spent more money in there.

 Duffy in sailor outfit

asked 2 kind girls to lend me their duffy bears for a photo shoot.
so cute their bears!!!!!!
these are their own bears, and they brought it from home to Disneysea along with them.

and not only them, i think like 70% of the Japanese brought their own Disney barang barangs and just carry them along.

 random xiao mei mei.
so big her ribbon!

 Duffy necklace

 minnie mouse shoes!

colleague trying it out.
isnt it cute?!

 duffy bucket which contains popcorns!
the hat is the removable cover.
wanted to buy it but it costs like 50SGD.
=/
too expensive le leh

loads more merchandises - cookies/tidbits/chocolates etc:

 lanterns!
i kind regretted not buying them.
lantern festival can use leh.

 thats it!
after a tiring and hot and sweaty day in Disneysea, nonetheless it was fun and entertaining.
my face damn shag.

 my shopping in Disneysea

and these earrings too!

i hope to go back to Disneysea again if there's a chance.
prolly not in the near 5 years, but we shall see!

my next aim is to go to Tokyo Sanrio Puroland!
