For all of you beautiful women out there:
DO NOT TAKE YASMIN BIRTH CONTROL!!!
The birth control Yasmin has caused my beautiful, wonderful sister more problems than I can count. I'm sure you've heard commercials about it on the TV and how it can cause Gal Bladder disease and other problems, but they still make it, and many people still use it. I will tell you the sad story.
My sister started having some stomach pains in August or September. The doctors ran many tests, and they finally decided that her pain was cause by her Gal Bladder and that it needed to be removed. One of the big side effects of Yasmin is Gal Bladder disease and she was an unfortunate victim. They did surgery to remove the Gal Bladder, and they said her pain would go away. She was still having some pain, and after getting to the point where she shouldn't still be having "recovery" pains, she called the Dr.s. Again, they didn't figure out what was wrong for a long time after the surgery. Test after test was done, and finally, after months of tests and stomach pain, they diagnosed her with Gastroparesis, aka paralyzed stomach. They decided that while doing the Gal Bladder surgery, a nerve was mistakenly cut, causing her stomach to become paralyzed. When you have a paralyzed stomach, there are many things you can't eat. Most veggies, lots of fruits, no whole grains only to name a few. It's best to try and not eat after 5:00 PM and if you are craving a salad and give in, you will be in severe pain. She is taking medicine which is supposed to help, but she hasn't seen too much of a difference. While sitting at a basketball game the other day, I was eating some peanut M&M's and offered her one. "Can't eat peanuts," she said. Imagine trying to make your kids eat their veggies when you can't show them how! Not an easy task.
The moral of my story- if you are taking Yasmin- STOP!!! Or at least look into taking another kind of birth control. We always hear bad things about medications on TV, but this real, and most of you know the person this is happening to! I love you all and hope that you take this to heart! Take Care!
