Reflections

The school had a fund raiser carnival at the beginning of the month.  We were there at the tail end and got killer deals on doughnuts, which made the boys really happy.
In my efforts to gain popularity points as a cooler parent, I took the boys to dinner while Dan was at a campout.  Fortunately it was Family Night, so we got balloons.
They made these cool potato monsters in school
 We painted pumpkin "turkeys"
The boys each entered a picture into the school Reflections contest.  Only 49 kids entered and there was a little awards ceremony at the school. Brad's is inspired by Vincent Van Gough's "Starry Night".  He just finished his art class rotation and the teacher did a great job.

Soccer

Dan coached the boys soccer team this year.  He did a really great job, I was proud.  He would spend at least 15 minutes setting up practices with flags, cones, and nets, and had a full sheet paper with his game plan for practice.

Halloween

Last year we made "monster face" pizzas for dinner Halloween night and apparently this is now a tradition.

Dan actually got to be home for Halloween this year.  He's been scheduled to work for the last four years, so even though it wasn't easy getting his partner to switch shifts, it was great having him home.  Dan hates to dress up, but the boys really wanted him to, so he went as an "Antarctica Explorer".  I'm not sure it counts as a costume, but everyone was happy. I stayed home this year to hand out the candy, we had about 225 kids.  I did get to take the boys out for a few houses because they really wanted to do our entire ward and had missed one street.

October

I may not do Halloween crafts, but I did take the boys to a few Halloween festivities.  Dan's old soccer coach is a realtor, so we went to their free advertising event and got some treats and pumpkins.

It was Red Ribbon Week at school and each day had a different theme.  Luckily, my friend Jilynn had a great suggestion and I was able to be a cool mom for "crazy hair" day.

The Utah Conservation Garden in Orem does a Halloween festival and we went this year.  There were carnival games, including this one where they dressed up as scarecrows.
They did do a Halloween craft, they made their own puzzles.
This was my "I feel like an awesome parent" night.  I took them to a Chemistry demonstration put on by the U of U chemistry department.  Their favorite part was when they did an explosion that made an empty pop bottle hit the ceiling.  As we were waiting, I told them that sitting in an auditorium like we were was like college was; it was in similar seats that I met their dad.  They asked if he thought I was cute, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes :)
The boys love to play with their friends.  This is a soccer game with Derek, our next door neighbor.
We didn't go to the more popular CornBelly's but did go to a local family farm that has a pumpkin patch and play area.  It is low key and not crowded, so perfect.  The boys kept having races against each other in the hay bale maze.

This is the lookout tower in the full size corn maze.
There was an adorable photo-opt station, but of course we couldn't get any good smiles.  There was an adorable kitty that we all got to pet.

The boys made it a second month to the 100's club.  If they read a 100 books each month their teacher invites them to a pizza party.  They are really motivated to make it every month.
