We finally made it down to Vegas to visit Mark who has been there since July for his one year surgical internship program. We arrived Friday night and Saturday morning hit the strip. We went to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay, which is actually very well done.
We saw the gardens in the Bellagio and their fountain show and then walked to M&M world to see the 3D movie. At that point all the partiers had woken up and we were done with the strip. We headed to Red Rock for a hike, which is more our cup of tea.
We stayed with my Uncle Richard and family and had a really relaxing trip. Sunday we just hung out at their house and played board games and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We did have excellent timing as Salt Lake had six inches of snow while we were away. My Aunt Karen loves games and her closet was better than Christmas for the boys. It's going to be a long time before I can play a game of Sorry again. Sunday night my Aunt Karla and Uncle Robert came over for a meal. It was great to see Mark and visit with other family members.
Mark had to be to work Monday morning at 5:00 am, so we said our goodbyes on Sunday night. Monday we stopped at Valley of Fire state park and climbed some red rock, saw petroglyphs, and hiked around.
We spent the night in St. George (thank you Nancy) and visited my Aunt Joan while we were there. The next day we had plenty of time to drive home, so after years of Dan wondering what Cove Fort was all about, but never having the energy to stop, we took the tour. The boys were really chatty with the tour guy and at the end received a pioneer toy.
