April Photos
I know I've been a slacker about posting things to the blog. Maybe one of these days I'll get caught up enough to keep up with it again (but to be on the safe side, I'm not holding my breath...). :-)
I did manage to post a bunch of the pictures of Elli from the month of April. If you're interested in seeing them, click here.

Elli-isms
I'm afraid I haven't been very good about blogging again lately. However, I wanted to write down somewhere all of the funny things Elli has said over the past few months. If you are my Facebook friend, you've seen most of these, but I wanted to put them somewhere a little more permanent while I'm thinking of it so that I have a record of them. So, here goes...
September 1 -Elli told me that "A is for applesauce." I thought that was pretty good...until she then told me that the numbers she was playing with "spell Mama." OK, so maybe the applesauce thing was a fluke. :-)
September 3 -just saw Elli put her Dora doll in her time-out spot. She told me, "She's not cooperating."
September 10 -I was at the doctor's office. As a part of the checkup, they did an EKG. Elli was fascinated. After they were done with the test and we were waiting for the doctor to come back, Elli put stickers on me and said, "Keep them on." She walked away, came back, took off the stickers, then said, "Mama great job listening and cooperating."
September 17 - I was watching Elli kick and throw a ball around the house. She says, "I playin' football."
September 21 -I was watching Elli working with Ms. April, our TVI. Elli was supposed to be making an "L" with some velcro strips. I said, "Elli, are you making an L?" She said, in an exasperated tone of voice, "I'm workin' on it!"
September 21 -Elli said to me, "Mama, pick this up and yell 'Go Colts!'".
September 22 -I was listening to Elli, who was supposed to be napping, yelling the ABC song at the top of her lungs!
September 23 -I was getting a kick out of Elli learning to count to ten...in Spanish. She's fascinated by it, and will often say "Count for me...in Spanish." Then "Count for me...in Enguish." Now she's starting to count aloud in Spanish herself...and it's different everytime. Today, it was "Uno, dos, twes, cato, seis, taco...".
September 27 -I asked Doug if Elli was still on the couch. He said, "Yes, but she's getting up now." Elli said, "I getting down, actually."
October 1 -I heard Elli say, "I draw Elli's name. E-L-I...spells Elli. Now I draw Mama name." I said, "How do you spell Mama?" She said, "M", then a pause, then "E-I-E-I-O."
October 7 -Elli knocked a circle off one of her toys. She said, "I sorry circle. I didn't mean to knock you!"
October 19 -I watched Doug tell Elli "I love you!" tonight as he kissed her goodnight. Then heard Elli say (for the first time), "I wuv you too. SOOOO much!"
November 1 -Elli was looking at her pumpkin with her candy from trick-or-treating. She wanted us to open a package of M&Ms. Then we talked about the M&Ms (they're round, hard, smooth, they have different colors, they're all brown on the inside, etc.). Then I tried to convince Elli to take a bit of one, to no avail. At which point, Elli absolutely insisted that I eat them all. I was only too happy to oblige. :-)
November 5 -I had Elli walk up to me with her Dora doll and say, "Dora needs a patch on her eye. Her eye needs to get stronger." Put a bandaid over Dora's eye, and then Elli said, "Now she needs her glasses." Guess she's figured out the routine!
November 7 -I enjoyed a refreshing weekend scrapbooking with friends. When I got home, she came running up to me with a HUGE smile, and said, "MAMA!! I so excited to see you, Mama!!:"
November 9 -Elli said to me "Sing the Santa song." I told her I don't know what Santa song she's talking about and asked her to sing it. She sings "Santa baby, hurry down the chimney tonight!"
November 15 -Elli told me this morning, "Boots needs a time-out. He not listening." So I put her stuffed Boots in time-out. A few minutes later, Elli said, "Boots can come out now. He ready to cooperate now."
November 21 -Riding home from church, we said something that was apparently funny to Elli. She giggled and then said, "That's hysterical!"
November 28 -I saw Elli looking through her children's Bible. She says, "I looking for God's promise." Then, after paging through a little bit, she says "Jesus was born in a manger."
December 11 -I heard too many cute Elli-isms the last few days to keep track of. Yesterday, after putting "pretties" in her hair, she said, "I sooo pretty!" Today, while holding the baby Jesus in her Little People nativity set, she said, "Baby Jesus is my friend." While reading the story of Jesus' birth from her children's Bible, she said, "That matches my Away in the Manger song!" There were more...but I forgot. :-(
December 16 - Elli had just gotten up from her nap, and she asked if she could play. I said, "Well, we have to go to the doctor's office, so we can play there." She replied, "How about we play here for, like, 2 minutes, then we can go play at the doctor's office?"
December 17 -was getting our snow tires put on today. While we waited, Elli walked over to the perfect stranger sitting next to us, gave her a big smile, and said at the top of her lungs, "Well, hello there!"
December 29 - Elli brought her magnifying glass over to Doug, put it on him, and said, "I see you. My glass makes you bigger!"
January 5 - Elli was absolutely refusing to take her first bite and drink at lunch today. Covering her mouth with her hands, batting my hands away, crying, etc. Suddenly, she stopped, smiled really big, and said, "I bein' naughty!!" and then giggled as if it's the funniest thing ever.
January 6 - I was preparing dinner. I asked Elli if she wanted to help me put the rolls in the pan so we could cook them. She said, "But mama, my hands aren't clean!" She is her father's daughter, that's for sure!
January 8 -The best part of today was listening to Elli sing "Happy Bir-day to Mama, Happy Bir-day to Mama" on multiple occasions today. :-)
January 17 - Elli looked at a picture from herself 6 months ago and said, "That's a picture of me when I was a younger kid." Then in all seriousness, she said, "But now I'm a pirate."
January 18 -n a shopping trip last week:
Elli - "Mama, what store are we in now?"
January 31 -As I was feeding Elli today, she giggled and said, "You are making me smile!"
February 7 -While eating lunch today, Elli looked around and said, "It sure is quiet at home today. We need our friend named Daddy to come home and make some noise."
February 14 -I had a tea party with Elli. She said, "Mama, Jesus is having a tea party with us!" And she proceeded to pour tea for Jesus. And give him bites and drinks. According to Elli, Jesus likes cream and sugar (2 scoops) in his tea. :-) (And throughout the rest of the day, Jesus went everywhere with us...we turned the light on for him, he took a nap with Elli, etc.)
February 16 - This morning, when asked to put on her coat, Elli's response was, "I would, but I don't have the energy." Her other favorite excuse is "I could, but I lost my magic wand!"
February 19 - Elli started crying for seemingly no reason today. We asked her what was wrong, since we couldn't figure it out. She said, between sobs, "I...don't...know!"
February 26 -We played hide and seek with Elli this morning. Doug hid her under a blanket, and then I was supposed to find her. I walked into the living room, and said, "I wonder where Elli is?" She piped up, giggling, "I'm under the blanket!!"
September 1 -Elli told me that "A is for applesauce." I thought that was pretty good...until she then told me that the numbers she was playing with "spell Mama." OK, so maybe the applesauce thing was a fluke. :-)

Happy Halloween!
Elli carved her first jack-o-lantern with Ms. April this year. Well, actually, Ms. April did all the work, because Elli wouldn't touch it! She was interested in the pumpkin though...

She LOVED her Snoopy costume. We tried it on Wednesday to make sure it fit, and she refused to take it off until bedtime! Today she got a huge smile on her face when we told her she could wear her Snoopy costume again. I have a feeling this won't be the last time she's dressed like Snoopy.
She loved trick-or-treating. She handled it better than I expected - she even said "Trick or treat" and "Thank you" at a number of the houses, although she certainly said it too quietly to be heard by the people at the houses.
She absolutely insisted that she needed to have a black nose, just like Snoopy!
