My Mother always said I was a 'pain in the butt...'

So here is the story...

About 2 and a half years ago I was teaching for a professional dance company called Universal Dance Association. They sent me all over the United States teaching dance camps to kids ranging from Middle School to College. Dream Job? You'd definitely think so... Well as I'm teaching an intermediate technique class, I decide to bust it out with a really high jete (leap) to show these little kiddies how its done I landed and immediately went to my knees with unbelievable, intense, shooting pain down to my toes and up my spine... I couldn't walk, I definitely couldn't dance, I just crawled over to the trainer and collapsed again... I guess my intense lectures of "MAKE SURE YOU STRETCH REALLY GOOD SO YOU DON'T PULL A MUSCLE" kinda went in my own ear and out the other.... well.. to make a long story short..2 years later and several Doctors saying, "Sorry Jade, I just don't know whats wrong with you", "I don't think you're ever going to be pain free" and my personal favorite, "Have you ever heard of phantom pain? A man came into me once who had had his foot amputated after burning it and he would complain that he still had intense burning pain, in the foot that he no longer had. The pain was all in his head and thats how your pain is too"...... So after many Doctors, a mountain of pain killers, donuts (the kind you sit on, not the kind you eat), and many many many nights crying my eyes out to my family and friends claiming I had officially gone crazy, I finally went to a pain specialist. I figured if it wasn't going to go away, I might as well go to someone who can create a pain plan personalized to me. So I asked around, my good friend Carolyn who has been through more things than anyone I've ever met recommended Dr. Stephen Lorden down at Summit Pain Management.

I have to say it was honestly the best decision I could've made. I would suggest them to ANYONE who lives with pain. Dr. Stephen Lorden was so unbelieveable. He was so kind and understanding and it was so nice to have a doctor actually BELIEVE me when I said that I hurt tremdeously from the waist down. By that point I had had 3 MRI's, 1 CT scan, numerous x-rays, and a dozen or so injections. When I went in to see him for the first time, he sat down and listen while I told him where I was hurting, how I was hurting and how much it affected my normal life style. I remember that day I decided to not take any pain medicine so he could really understand the extent of pain I was in. Within about twenty minutes of evaluating ME (not the x-rays, or MRI's or anything else) he asked me to lay on my side and he was going to push on my tailbone. Holy Smokes, I HIT the roof! The same intense shooting, happened again and after months and months of mystery and confustion, He had finally figured it out. I had a severely broken tailbone!! No wonder I wanted to die each time I sat down or walked or did anything at all.

I didn't land on my tailbone so no one ever thought to look that far down. The reason why the films never caught it was because they were only focused on my discs and vertabraes. They just kept missing it. So 3 weeks later, I went into surgery to have my tailbone removed. YES I said REMOVED. I certainly didn't know they could do that, but evidently they can and it's been about 3 months since my surgery date and the pain in my butt is about 85% better and increasing!!

If any of you out there live with pain, go see DR. LORDEN at Summit Pain Management:

I've been tagged!!!

My cousin Mercedi tagged me... I've gotta list 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 obsessions and 3 surprising facts... Then tag 5 other people..
3 joys...
1. Dancing and coaching... I've danced for 17 years and just recently I started coaching a local drill team. I knew it would be hard but I had no idea. Its unreal the amount of love you feel for those you serve and how desperately you want them to be happy and healthy.
2.. I know Chelsea is going to make fun of me when I write this but of course the "special someone" in my life makes me very happy.
3... The last thing that brings me joy is getting a new pair of shoes! Steve madden's.. Gianni Binis.. yum! love them all! if you are ever feeling bad about yourself go buy a new pair of high heels.. The great thing about shoes is even if you're having a "fat day" or whatever- shoes always fit! :)

3 fears...
1. For a very long time my biggest fear has been being in pain for the rest of my life. But luckily I found a fantastic Doctor in Murray who figured out I've had a broken tailbone for 2 years! I've recently had it removed and on good days I'm feeling 80-90% better! Yahoo!!!
2.. I'm afraid of the dark :) ha.. not always but sometimes I can really freak myself out!
3... I'm afraid of cops! I get really nervous whenever I pass them driving! ha :)
3 obsessions
1. I'm obsessed with sleeping... I don't do well when I don't get enough sleep. It'll be interesting when I have kids, I guess I'll learn to be sleep deprived! :)
2.. I'm obsessed with the gospel. You can definately tell the difference in your day and week when you are living it completely!
3... Last I'm obsessed with dancing. Since 9th grade I danced every single day... when I got hurt it was like a light switch went off. One day I could dance the next day I couldn't. That was so difficult! So I'm happy I'm back on my feet and can start dancing once again!
3 surprising facts
1. I'm going through a weird food fetish right now.. ha.. All I want to eat is "Hearty Chicken Flavor" cup noodles... gross I know but they are so yummy!
2.. I have all my kids names picked out, all beginning with the letter "C".
3... I have 3 callings in church! Ward Missionary, Family Name Extractor (geneology), and Relief Society teacher! They keep me on my toes!
I'm going to tag... Courtney, Haley, Shelley, Meagan and Jen!

The Host by Stephanie Meyers

I've read the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyers and absolutley LOVED them. So I've heard "The Host" is great as well. I've only read a few pages but it seems like it's going to take me for a ride! If you've read it, don't tell me what happens but let me know so we can chat about it after I'm done! :)
