So this last month Eric and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. Yep, 5 years already. We actually got a babysitter and went out on a real date, something we don't get to do very often. Our date started with going to Chuy's, a new mexican restaurant here in College Station. Since its only been open a month there was a 45 minute wait. After eating we rushed to go see the new movie, Red Riding Hood. We enjoyed it, as it wasn't too scary for me but still had some suspense for Eric. It reminded us a lot of The Village. Once we got out of the movie, it was getting pretty late. So instead of heading out for ice cream, a must on any of our date nights, we bought some and made sundaes after I took the babysitter home. It was a really fun night and made it easy to know why we're still happy after 5 years!
A couple weeks ago, we had the chance to go to the Houston Zoo. This was exciting as it was first time LaNea had ever been to a zoo and Eric and I never been to one together.
Of all the different animals that LaNea saw, she was the most fascinated with the fish. Eric thinks that we should get a couple fish in the future because of how much she loves looking at them. There were two baby giraffes when we were there which was fun to see. They were so small!
LaNea loved the playground of course and is ever fearless when it comes to going down the slides.
Eric and the girls hiding out in the little huts!
They had a small petting zoo there. There were probably 20 goats that kids were allowed to go pet or brush their hair. LaNea loved getting up close with the animals.
Wait, does it look like this guy could bite her ear? Hmmm, I guess its because this was taken just seconds before he actually did. LaNea wasn't too thrilled about that.
Several times though she would go up to one goat, only to reach over it and pet the one next to it. Prime example of the goat is always better on the other side!
Halli was such a daredevil too. She had no problem petting all the snakes. Pretty cool albino Alligator in the background too. I don' think that guy moved the whole time we were in there.
They had a small little alligator for us to touch. This guy was 2 years old. They grow about a foot each year. LaNea kept wanting to pet his face like she does with Izzie. The keeper had to keep moving its head away from her reach.
They had a really cool tunnel through the aquatic area. LaNea had fun looking at all the fish surrounding her and cried when we had to get her out.
It was really fun going to the zoo and I think we'll have to try it again as she gets older. She loved getting to see all the different animals and had a hard time realizing that we were only leaving this animal so we could go see another animal.
