Christmas at the park

On Saturday we got to go up and have Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Newey. While there we and several others took Carson to the park. He loved going on the swings and down the slides!

Merry Christmas

This year for Christmas we got to come back home to California. After a somewhat stressful flight we got to see our fmaily who we haven't seen since we left. This factor is one of my favorite parts of the holidays.
This present here would be my very own Sewing machine. I'll now be creating loads of new things. Top of my list would be clothes and curtains. The texas sun is bright.

This was obviously Logan's favorite Gift.
It makes Christmas morningi so much fun when you have the excitement that little faces bring in. Tyler played Santa for us and handed out presents.

Jill's Favorite Gift

So it was my birthday on Thursday and Eric got me the most amazing gift! Yes, a guitar. I had mentioned a few months back how I would really enjoy learning to play. I love how you can take a guitar with you to places when you wouldn't always have a piano. I now own an absolutely beautiful guitar. I have spent the last few days learning to play and wow, do my fingers hurt. I have found the guitar to be similar enough to the piano that I did get an advantage. I have also had fun playing some songs in the primary book. The one that I have found to be the easiest is Book of Mormon Stories. Poor Eric has had to sit and listen to me play this one over and over til he's practically singing it in his sleep. Its a lot of fun though and I can't wait til I can start remembering chords without a chart for reference.

So today was a fun filled day. A cold front had come into College Station and we woke to find snow on our cars. Later this evening it started to snow again and this time it actually stuck. Eric was insisting that we take advantage of this and build ourselves a snowman. We each made our own. Eric had been expecting wet snow that was very slushy but instead the snow was nice and dry, just like Utah. I had to teach Eric how to work with it! It was a lot of fun. (As you can see in Eric's picture, the cold front has definately passed.)

Happy Birthday ERIC

So I know its a little late but its was Eric's 26th Birthday on Friday.

Weekend Getaway

This last weekend we got to go to Houston and spend it with the Williams. Its nice having somewhere to go when this town feels just a little small. The girls are also great entertainers who made certain we had a great time. Needless to say it was a great weekend.

Peyton had fun putting on Eric's boots. While we were only there for a few days she probably stepped into his shoes at least a dozen times. She wasn't able to go very far but that never stopped her from trying.

Izzie had a lot of fun this weekend by getting to spend it all outside, something she hasn't done since we got here. She actually had a lot of fun with the girls and after a while wasn't even afraid of them which is another first!
Halli had fun becoming all differnt types of animals. Her cats definately love her as much as she loves them.

So several months ago there was a contest going on within the "Eye World." All you had to do to enter was submit a photo that showed your city. When I heard this I immediately thought of this picture I had taken of Eric up in Skagway. I submitted and then almost instantaniously forgot about it. This afternoon however I received a package in the mail with the new calendar of all the winning photos. Much to my surprise and delight was Eric's picture!

This is the front of the calendar with all the winning photos. As you can see lots of them were very artistic and very good.

My very own, MR. OCTOBER!!!
As you can also see, mine would be a little lacking artistically but definately meets the criteria. Do you think they questioned the fact that I noted I'm from Texas but somehow there is snow in the backround with lots of Alaskan flags? Hmm, oh well. Also the prise isn't only that I get my name in the calendar but that I will also receive a brand new camera. Yeah, I'm excited!

This was something I learned at a cooking class I went to tonight and it was just so good and yet so quick I thought I would share!
Ingredients:
2 eight oz cans refridgerator cresent rolls (8 rolls per can)
2 medium Granny smith apples, peeled and sliced into 8 pieces
1 cup sugar
1/3 melted butter
3/4 cup Sprite
Cinnamon

Unroll dough and pull apart to make 16 triangles. Roll apple into each triangle and place in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
In a bowl mix butter and sugar. Spread over rolls. Slowly pour Sprite over rolls. DO NOT STIR!
Sprinkle with cinnamon & bake uncovered @ 350 for 35-40 minutes.
Serves 8 (2 dumplings each)
Can serve with vanilla ice cream, cool whip or whipped cream.
Its really easy to make and yet tastes so good! Have fun and I'd love to hear if you like it.

Before we vote...

Before we vote, we must ask our leaders one final important question...Why did the chicken cross the road?

I took this from my friends blog.

Why did the Chicken cross the road?

Barack Obama: The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a change! The chicken wanted change!

John McCain: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

Hillary Clinton: When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure - right from Day one - that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.

George W. Bush: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

Dick Cheney: Where's my gun?

Colin Powell: Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road.

Bill Clinton: I did not cross the road with that chicken. What is your definition of chicken?

John Kerry: Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chickens intentions. I am not for it now, and willremain against it.

Al Sharpton: Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens!

Dr. Phil: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on this side of the road before it goes after the problem on the other side of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his current problems before adding new problems.

Oprah: Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of us chickens.

Nancy Grace: That chicken crossed the road because he's guilty! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks.

Pat Buchanan: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American.

Dr. Seuss: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.

Ernest Hemingway: To die in the rain, alone.

Jerry Falwell: Because the chicken was gay! Can't you people see the plain truth? That's why they call it the 'other side'. Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And if you eat that chicken, youwill become gay, too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like 'the other side.' That chicken should not be crossing the road. It's as plain and as simple as that.

Grandpa: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

Barbara Walters: Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious scare ofmolting, and went on to accomplish its lifelong dream of crossing the road.

Aristotle: It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

John Lennon: Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace.

Albert Einstein: Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?

Colonel Sanders: Did I miss one???

Switching Places

So starting Monday Eric will be moving to underground. I can't say that I'm not thoroughly pleased. No more having to even think of him falling off a pole. He'll be safe on the ground or even under it. What could go wrong there right! We actually had lunch with his previous Journeyman on Saturday who went off several times telling me what a great apprentice Eric is and just how smart he is. Its always nice to hear great compliments like that.

The Boy and His Dog

Its amazing how quickly someone can become a huge part of your life. We've only had Izzie for about a month and already she takes up the majority of our spare time. Eric enjoys her company a great deal and gets very frustrated when she doesn't play correctly or makes a mistake. But the two are still great pals.

Adam got to visit us before he left for Korea for a year. I went and picked him up from Houston on Wednesday night and we brought him up to Dallas this morning. We had fun despite that we spent most our time simply talking and laughing. As Adam is probably the one other person who reads both as fast as I do and as much as I do, we had fun going to the used bookstores and looking for books. Even though it was short, it was great to have him out here.

Adam Left at 10:50 am for his thirteen hour flight to Korea. Do not worry though he now has eight books he is excited to read to keep him entertained. He was also thrilled that he'll be getting a meal while on the plane. Its the little things.

Adam has two faces now. One that I grew up with that always looks like he is laughing at something and then this one where nothing looks funny at all. He says he learned this one while at boot camp and can't think of anything other keep every muscle straight. This was Adam all packed up and heading out!

My favorite memory of Adam was when he was very little. A cop was asking each of us some questions for fun that would go on a video later. When it was Adam's turn he was asked the simple question of "what is your name." As Adam is never nervous he confidently replies "I'm Adam Newey Scott Newey." In my mind that's how I always hear his name.

BTU Award Ceremony

So it's definately true that you learn new things every day. Such as today I am able to add two new words to my vocabulary thanks to Eric's fellow employees.
1st New Word: "Cuz"
Defination: fellow employee; non-related co-worker; sometimes accidently used when referring to wife.
2nd New Word: "Sunshine"
Defination:

So we went to an award's ceremony for BTU where they note all those that had been there for a while. In between these awards they gave away door prizes. We had been sitting there for about an hour and the applause was begining to get pretty weak. However, finally Eric got called for a prize and half the room gets all excited and started whooping and yelling "Sunshine, that'a'boy Sunshine!" Eric's face went red as he had to walk up to collect his prize. They weren't quiet til he sat back down.

FYI: in their minds, because Eric came from California and the character from Remember the Titans came from California, they are the same.

Izzie

So we did just recently get a new puppy. She wasn't house-trained but thankfully for my sanity's sake she picked up the concept very quickly. It has been a just a little over two weeks since we got her and she has improved a great deal. Eric gets so excited each time she does something good. We also recently found a dog park near our area and for anyone who has a dog this is a great experience. At first Izzie can't decide whether she was so excited or scared out of her mind so she kept her tail between her legs and had it wagging swiftly. Everyone at the park just loves her though as do we. She even gets to sleep on the bed with us which Bella wasn't happy about but the two are starting to get along and will even sleep on the same bed(at opposite ends).

Our New Neighbor

So I know its silly to be fascinated with Spiders but I think this one is different and should be excused. Besides spiders aren't a threat as long as they remain on their web, located outside my house.

Bill Cosby Live

So last night Eric and I went with a group of friends to see Bill Cosby perform at Texas A&M First Yell. It was great to see and as always entertaining to listen to. We're still laughing when we mention some of the jokes.

Changing Places

So after several months of debating what I should do about my current office, today it all got resolved. I will now be moving to a new office that is more focused on people instead of just the money. My new job will be just down the street where I can ride a bike to. It will be fun to try a new experience.

Jill and Eric

So since neither Eric or I am very good at taking pictures, nothing has been posted for a while. But that doesn't mean we haven't kept busy. We got to go down to Houston last weekend to spend a little while with our entertaining neices and then go and see Britt and Brett. Even though it was just for a little while, it was a lot of fun.
These pictures are obviously our profiles. I have always loved anything classic and it seems everyone in the olden days had a profile of themselves. Usually they are supposed to be drawn but that just really wasn't working for me so instead I got to use photoshop. I had fun!

House Tag

#10. ME!

The rules are:
1. When you read you are tagged you must stop everything you are doing, grab your camera and begin to take pictures of the listed rooms/items.
2. NO CLEANING and fixing things up.
3. Post them for all the world to see

Oh yes, the final book to the Twilight Series. I can't wait to find out who it ends.

Memory Lane

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Shadows

So today I had to have someone "shadow" me. I don't know exactly what it is about this concept that I just don't like but boy I do not like it. It felt all day that there was this annoying fly that wouldn't leave me alone. She asks a lot of questions which were really silly and more of just restating what I just said. Yes I realize everyone has to learn but I wish that they didn't have to pull me into it. I'm just not very good at explaining every single thing that I do, especially when I am supposed to explain why I don't always do what I'm supposed to do. That's an awkward moment! I just cross my fingers that she either finds a new job or just looses her voice, anything along those lines would be great for me.

OUR FOURTH OF JULY

For our Holiday Vacation we got to go to Houston to spend some time with our favorite nieces. We not only got to spend time a the William Families pool but we also had the chance to go to the temple which is always a treat.

Payten had fun with her uncle Eric or as she would call him, "Errrk." He was her new best friend the whole time that we were there, but he was glad to feel so needed.

Yeah, she's fearless!

Aren't they just so cute!!!They only kept us a little busy!
But how do you say No to those smiles?
