Giving Machine and Christmas Carol
We had a fun night. It started at Mod Pizza. Then we finally made it to the giving machine. We had gone by a few nights ago to see what we wanted to buy. The giving machine is one of 4 machines that the church has put over the world. It is a vending machine where you can put money in and choose what you want the money to go to and then the church will make sure that item gets donated to somewhere in the world. The kids each got to pick something they wanted to donate. Emmy wanted to donate a goat (of course) and so she spent part of her money to pay for half of it. We helped the kids donate what they wanted, and then I was standing there and thought of grandma and had to donate a sewing machine. Hopefully someone will use it as much as she would have:) After that we crossed the street and went to see Christmas Carol. This was the first year we took the kids. Rook was a little restless but I think the rest of the kids really enjoyed it.

Halloween
Halloween is always a fun, crazy day. This year we had Spiderman, a butterfly, Katie Ledecky and a day of the dead girl, Jack Skellington and a scarecrow. Addy switched costumes for part of our activities. The kids had a fun time dressing up for school, Nana and Poppy's block party, the ward trunk or treat and trick or treating.

Fall Ball
Another season of baseball is wrapping up. They were short a few boys so Jamie ended up signing Emmy up to play on their team. Even though she didn't have any experience playing baseball, she held her own and even got to pitch in a game. Her and TJ both did great. It is fun watching them play together. They ended up the season in second place.
Rook and Evie also got to play on the same team and had a fun season. Although Rook definitely likes to hit better than play the field.

Rook takes the challenge
During the women's session of conference President Nelson challenged the women to read the Book of Mormon before Christmas. He also challenged us to mark every time the Book of Mormon talked about the Savior. Since Emmy and Addy were old enough to go, I went and bought each of us a little blue $3 Book of Mormon. I wanted to encourage them to take the challenge and I also wanted a new book to mark instead of the ones I use all the time. That night as we were sitting down to our family scripture study I told the girls they could get their Book of Mormon's and mark them as we read as a family also. So Rook asked us what we were doing. So I explained it to him. He has gone to town marking his little book of Mormon. He is only 5 and he only knows about 25 sight words, so he obviously isn't reading it. But he has spent hours going through and highlighting words. He started with "Lord" and "God". I sat down with him the other day and wrote out Jesus Christ so he would know to mark those words as well but he is cracking me up. He is on about page 150 just going through and highlighting the words that reference the Savior. It is about the cutest thing I have ever seen.
