To Shave or Not to Shave?

Me and Jamie started dating 10 years ago. The only time that I have ever seen him clean shaven is right before we got married when we went to get pictures taken. I was not happy about it. Since then he has always had a mustache and a goatee. Well last Tuesday we got to visit with the stake president and he asked Jamie if he would be the 1st counselor in the bishopbric. It has been an emotional week for both of us and neither one of us has slept well. The week has been filled with several tender mercies and I know this is where the Lord wants him to be serving right now and I know he will do an incredible job. Jamie is a really good man. He always tries to do what he thinks is right and I love him for that. I know the next 5 years will hold its challenges, but I also know that the Lord does not ask us to do things that we can't handle and I know that he will bless our family for Jamie's service and will bless us while he is away. But I think the thing that I struggled the most with, is that I knew Jamie would shave. The stake president did not tell him he had to but as Jamie said, "he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant." :) Not that I am judging anyone who doesn't shave I just knew Jamie well enough to know this is how he would feel. So I made him take one last picture with me Sunday morning before he shaved it off. So here is the before.
During
 And after...
And I gotta admit. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Love you hun. You are going to be awesome!!!!

Gilbert Days Fun Run

Last night was the Gilbert Days fun run. Jamie ran the one mile with Emmy and TJ and I ran the 5k.
Getting started...
By the time my race was over there wasn't enough lights so the shutter was staying open too long and all the pictures are blurry, but I think it just makes me look faster:)
It was an interesting experience for me. I forgot my ipod and I didn't realize it until it was too late to turn around and go get it and then I went to the bathroom right before I was supposed to run, and I caught my thumb in the lock on the bathroom door and it started bleeding pretty good. So it is like a minute before I am supposed to run, my thumb is bleeding everywhere and I have no way to stop it, I have no music, and I forgot to turn the GPS on my watch until I started running and it took 4 minutes to lock up so for the first 4 minutes I didn't know how fast I was running. All of those things must have ended up working to my advantage. I ended up running it in 23:36 which was an average of 7:36 min/mi which is way faster than anything I have ever ran. So that was cool. I also got to see Reylene. Reylene is a girl that I graduated from ASU with. We both taught math for several years and ended up in the same young adult ward where she introduced me to Jamie. I haven't seen her in probably 6 or 7 years so that was really cool.

Who let the dog's out???

Veteran's Day we went to the park with Jamie's family to celebrate some birthdays. While we were there Emmy was playing with a little girl who asked Emmy if she wanted to pet her dog. Emmy said sure. The Aunt was right there holding the dog and everything, but when Emmy went to pet it, it bit her arm pretty good. It was a German Shepherd and was pretty big. We weren't over there so I just see Emmy come racing across the play ground with blood on her arm. So we got to spend a couple of hours in urgent care. They put 3 stitches on the bottom and one on the top. She was such a trooper though and never really cried once the initial shock was over.

Time Out For Women....

For my mom's birthday I got both of us tickets to Time Out for Women. I had never been before and to be honest I wasn't overly excited about going. But I absolutely loved it. It was so good!!! I cried, and laughed, and cried some more and most importantly felt the spirit and filled my well.

Look Who's 2

The kids each made Evie a crown for her birthday. So here they are modeling them. Each one of them love her so much.
Opening presents.
Evie LOVES books. Her favorite book is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" So I made her a book with her blankie on it and it is called "Yellow Blankie, Yellow Blankie, What do you see?"
I don't let my kids sleep with pillows or real blankets until they are 2. So I made her a blanket and pillow case for her birthday.
Her new babydoll.
And her Elmo birthday cake.
Evie is such a cute girl with a really fun personality. She thinks that she is every bit as big as the other kids and wants to be doing exactly what they are doing. She is definitely a daddy's girl and has him wrapped around her finger. Happy Birthday Evie!!! We love you.

Car Show

Yesterday was Jamie's car show at work. So we got to go see his car and then went to the park to have a picnic. This car was the kids favorite. It was painted with chalkboard paint so the kids got to draw on it.
