The morning of the 11th, I had an early doctor's appointment to determine when and how I would deliver. Daphne was breeched through out my entire pregnancy and I had extremely low fluid levels so it was decided that I would deliver a C-section baby.
This had worried me through out my pregnancy but I was surprisingly at peace with it, at this point my only concern was delivering a healthy baby. I had the most amazing group of doctors and nurses who were so great at making me feel comfortable in a situation that I would otherwise be very nervous and scared.
Isaac and I had to be back at the hospital at 2PM so I could get all the lab work done they needed before I got into the operating room. Waiting for 3 hours to go into the OR seemed like an eternity to us. As they took my vitals and monitored Daphne Isaac and I eagerly waited and finally decided to watch Sabrina on my iPad. MY incredibly talented cousin Mari was taking pictures for us and was there as well and my parents came and kept us distracted.
Before I finally went in, my doctor came in to give us a brief overview of what was going to go down and the anesthesiologist came in as well and explained everything to us. He was really great, by the time he came in my nerves had started to get the best of me. I was trying not to psych myself out and at one point he asked me if I was ready for this. I responded, "Ya, I'm totally stoked" to try and lighten the mood. He responded, "Ya! It's gonna be totally bitchin'!" Best. Comment. EVER.
It was finally time for me to go into the OR, and Isaac was able to meet me in there as well. As they were prepping me, the anesthesiologist asked me what kind of music I wanted to listen to during the procedure. I had just gone to a Doobie Brothers concert a couple days earlier and that was the first thing that came to mind, who doesn't like the sound of the Doobies while being cut open, right? He looked at me funny and then quickly responded, "Sweet! Something I recognize!".
So there we were, listening to the Doobie Brothers waiting to meet our little baby. At the time we did not know if we were having a boy or girl so the anticipation was killing us. Before I knew it they were holding a beautiful baby up for me to see and I was so shocked that I couldn't even see if it was a boy or girl, Isaac then looked down at me and said, "It's a girl!".
All the sudden we had this amazing beautiful little baby girl. While they checked her vitals and made sure she was healthy the anesthesiologist asked me, "well, do you have a name for her?!" I immediately responded, "Daphne!".
I kept on thinking of how crazy it was that something that perfect and wonderful had been inside of me this whole 9 months. Now, almost 3 months later, we are constantly in awe of how much we love our little bean Daphne. It has been so fun to see her develop and grow the past few months and the time is already going by so fast but we are enjoying every second of it.
As I mentioned earlier, my incredibly talented cousin Mari was there to take pictures for us, here are some of them. I couldn't be happier with how they turned out!
^^
Ok, this one is actually from my phone, but the rest are from Mari.
