Millions of Peaches, Peaches for Me

My mom had the most amazing harvest from her peach trees this summer.  Hundreds and hundreds of peaches! I was able to help her can them this year which was so fun because I had never canned peaches before.  It is quite the process but we created a nice efficient system.  Daphne even helped out with the sorting of the peaches (unfortunately her "helping out" included dumping a pile of bad peaches into our good pile, it's the thought that counts though).  We canned about 40 quarts of peaches and they turned out great and they look so pretty canned!  We still have more to work with (about a laundry basket full, yikes!) that we will probably freeze.  We are excited to enjoy the fruits of our labors through fall and winter (assuming they last that long).

Labor Day at the Lake

Every Labor Day my family goes up to Bear Lake one last time for the year.  This year the weekend started of with my mom's birthday.  We started the day in Salt Lake with breakfast at a new place called Sweet Lake Biscuits & Limeade.  This place meets and exceeds all biscuit and limeade expectations and will totally blow your socks off.  I would go there for their limeade alone!

We had to wait for some of the kids to get out of school so after I helped my mom puck her peaches, she has hundreds!!!  We picked two boxes and a laundry baskets worth of peaches, and that wasn't even half of them!  After harvesting peaches, Daphne and I went home to finish getting ready to go to the lake and then we all headed up.

We got there just in time for dinner and tried a new pizza place and then came home for the most delicious chocolate chocolate bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.  We finished the night with one of our favorite movies, When Harry Met Sally, a classic.

The next day Isaac and my Dad went golfing early in the morning and then afterwords him and Jess and Em went mountain biking up Logan Canyon on what they said was one of the most beautiful trails they had been on.  Daphne loves the beach these days and it's pretty hard to get her off of it so we headed down.  She is content all day playing in the water and sand, it's so fun to watch.  My cousin and her kids and their cousins were also down so Daphne had plenty of friends to hang out with.  Libby (my cousin's daughter) even brought down a frog she found which Daphne was ecstatic about!  She has a frog toy at home and has been into "fwroggies" lately, so it totally made her day.

Gracie was the best and took Daphne out on my cousin's little kayaks which she also loved.  They are pretty small and at one point Daphne tried to take it out herself.  Gracie was so great and pulled her around for a good hour or so, Daphne has the best aunts.

My cousins kids all were buried in the sand and Daphne decided she wanted to try, you wouldn't be able to tell from the picture but she actually really enjoyed it and enjoyed helping bury the other kids in the sand as well.

Being at the beach over Labor Day is one of my favorites.  It is usually a little colder and so the beach becomes pretty deserted and it is so calm and nice.  We ended the night with some delicious spaghetti (for some reason it always tastes SOOOOO good up at the Lake) and of course, a world famous Bear Lake raspberry shake and watched the BYU football game (what a nail biter!!)

Sunday we went to our church meeting and came back for chicken salad sandwiches.  Afterwards, we drove up to Bloomington Lake for a quick little hike.  It is so beautiful up there, definitely worth the hour drive!

Monday we rented a surrey bike and some banana bikes and took them around Garden City.  For the 15 + years we've been going to Bear Lake we have always seen people riding them but have never tried them ourselves.  Gracie has been begging my mom to rent them this summer so we went for it.  We were all so surprised how much fun it was!  Especially the banana bikes!  We cruised around town, Daphne got to sit on the front of the surrey bike and she was in heaven (there was even a bike bell for her to ring).  Afterwords, we headed back and took one more trip to the beach before we would head home.  On our way back we went to one of our favorite restaurants, Cafe Sabor to grab some dinner.

I am so glad we have such a fun place to escape to every summer, it is somewhere that always brings such great memories and I love spending time with my family up there!  As sad as I am to see summer end, I am so excited for fall, and not to mention the baby in two weeks!!!

**Disclaimer: I have the hardest time picking just a few pictures, so here is an overload of some from the weekend.
