Roma

Rome Day 1.  We arrived in Rome a little after noon.  After checking into our hotel we hit the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica.  We were able to go through the Vatican Museum, see the Sistine Chapel, climb the Basilica's dome, and tour the Basilica.  It was amazing to see all these historic places after reading and learning about them for so long.  Our hotel in Rome was awesome.  It was so quite and had a great breakfast.

Rome Day 2. National Museum of Rome, Borghese Gallery, Capuchin Crypt, and Heart of Rome Walk.  This was a busy day!  The Borghese Gallery was my favorite.  You couldn't take pictures inside it but it had several famous Bernini statues and several famous Carvaggio paintings.  The setting of the Gallery is impressive because it is on the actual grounds and house of the Borghese family.  We were able to picnic before our tour and enjoy the fountains, people, and scenery.  The National Museum of Rome was not that impressive but our kids enjoyed the picture of the Mummy of an 8 year old girl.  On the Heart of Rome walk we saw all the great squares, fountains, and sights of Rome.  We saw the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Piazza Novana.  We had our pizza dinner on the steps of the Pantheon watching all the street performers.
Rome Day 3.  Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trajan's Column, Capitoline Museum, Victor Emmanuel Monument.  The Colosseum was awesome.  We stepped back into time to Ancient Rome and had the whole morning to see everything.  This was another great day.  After "roaming" around and seeing the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, and the Forum we had our picnic lunch overlooking the Forum and listening to street music.  The Capitoline Museum was okay but at that point my feet were so tired and my mind was wanting to see what Florence had to offer.
