the egg chair by arne jacobsen

about 2 or 3 months ago, while waiting for a meeting room to be vacated, my colleagues and i had to wait in the reception area of our new fourth floor office. i was sitting on a really nice red chair that i really really liked. i even told my colleagues that i'm wondering where the office designers got the chair because i'd love to have that chair in my living room.

later, i saw the same red chair in a home decor magazine and realized that i just had the honor to sit in a very famous (and expensive) egg chair by danish designer, arne jacobsen. the egg chair!

isn't it lovely? i love it! the green and violet ones also looks good.

if you google the egg chair, you'd see that there are a number of varieties of this chair now. it comes in different colors and designs, even texture. price ranges from $5k-$11k (uh-oh). the original examples from the 1950's even costs a whopping $70k!!! now, how in the world will i be able to afford this chair?

of course, there are the replicas or reproductions which costs somewhere between $600-$2k. and that's not cheap, either.

well, i still hope that the one i sat on in the office is not a replica!

my floor plan

before i start, let me say that this is not a paid post. i'm not into that ... yet :D

anyway, after we bought our house, as an excited soon-to-be-homeowner, i started visualizing my plans for our house. i also started reading home decor/design magazines and books. and the more i read, the more ideas that i have for our interior design. and it came to a point that visualizing everything in my mind is no longer enough. i have to feed my hunger hahaha

so i googled for a floor plan or interior design software. there are a lot of available softwares out there, but only a handful are free. so, even if i would've preferred an interior design tool, i settled for an online floor planner tool. and with that i started designing our floor plan.

and this is the product of my imagination for our small piece of land :0)

well, of course, with so many ideas, my plans went through a lot of changes before finally coming up with this design.

what do you think? too ambitious? ei, dreaming is for free ...

dream house

one of my dreams is already slowly coming true. early this year, when we visited the philippines, mahal and i bought a house and lot in a nice subdivision. this is how it is supposed to look like when the construction is over.

but for now, it still looks like this. well, i did say it's a work in progress :)

what i would like for the interiors of our house is what's really making me keep my job. i have big plans for it. and for that i need to work, work, and work hard. otherwise, i'd have to settle for less.

i have a dream

my profile says that i am a full-time programmer, a full-time wife, and a full-time mother.

i have been working as an it professional since i graduated in 1998. i did stop working for over a year when my eldest was born and we moved to singapore. but when i went back to work after that, i never stopped again. i have a promising career with a global organization that i've been serving for four years now.

i am a mom to three kids aged seven, four, and three. i think they are growing too fast. and the older they grow, the more i feel that i need to stop working and be a stay-at-home or work-at-home mom.

i've been contemplating this thought on and off for months now. i'd love to do it but i can't. my kids are still very young and my family still has a long way ahead of us. my mahal (the hubby) still needs my help to build a strong foundation for our children's future. and with the current global financial crisis, the more that i need to cling to my career.

hence, the birth of this blog. what's keeping me from turning my back on my career are the things that i am dreaming of. i dream of a very good future for my kids. i dream of giving them a very good education. i dream of retiring in my homeland, in my dream house. and so many other things.

and in this blog, you will see things that are related to my dreams. things that i love. things that i like. and of course, things that i can only dream of.
