Happy Birthday Singapore!

This post came a day late but I still wish Singapore, my home, my country, a happy birthday. May you continue to prosper! :)

This year's National Day fell on a Saturday. Sad to say, though it's National Day, we spent it like any other weekends.
We went shopping at IMM with intentions of getting a corner shelf for our home sweet home and a pair of running shoes for myself. (Yes, it's time to get back to jogging again).

A pair of Adidas Cross Training shoes caught my eye and hubby paid for it. Then we went to the football store which he never fails to patronise whenever we shop at IMM. Since hubby has already gotten the the latest season jersey for Arsenal, he decides to get one for me too, and an Arsenal jacket for the young man. Really regret not getting the ladies jersey when hubby bought the male jersey when we were in Thailand last month. The price is cheaper on top of the tax refund. Oh well~

Since there are still some time in between till our dinner time, hubby decides that he wants to execute his donation plan. It has been on his wish list and he has been wanting to do this for the longest time... We googled for a nursing home in the north area so that we could do frequent donation to the home as it is within close vicinity, and one that is open for us to give our donations. Hubby's friend, Fat found this home in Woodlands North and off we went, to the supermarket. We grabbed items like rice, milo and biscuits which is suitable for old aged people. It is only after checkout then we realised that this home hosts only vegetarians. Glad that all the items we bought are suitable.

Before we went, we called the home and told them we will be coming by. Upon reaching, there was no one to receive us. We would at least expect the security guard to refer us to one of the administrative staff or something but after I informed the guard of our intentions, she merely told me to put our donations at one corner with stockpile of adult diapers (either they are donations or their purchase deliveries) and gave me a donation form to fill. The form requires me to fill in particulars like name, contact details, date and things that we have donated. However, we didn't get to list the things we donated nor did the guard do a stock-list on the form.

I cannot help but wonder, is this the proper procedure for receiving donated food items?
Too many questions running through but I gave the benefit of doubt. Even hubby expects a staff, other than the security guard to do the receiving and maybe a proper introduction on how the home functions and what items do they usually require, etc...
Of course, having done a good deed, we went away feeling accomplished yet, I feel we will need to do more research and make sure we are donating to a more needy cause.

We headed straight for the dinner place near Sembawang and they were live-telecasting the National Day Parade.
I can't help but feel a sense of pride being a Singaporean. And it's especially warming to hear my favourite National Day songs like, Count On Me, Singapore; One People, One Nation, One Singapore; Stand Up for Singapore; We Are Singapore; Home (English and Chinese version) by Kit Chan and We Will Get There by Stefanie Sun. It just heightens the atmosphere, in my opinion. It also feels good to see our modern founder, Mr Lee attending the celebration. However, he seems to thin down a fair bit.

Then it's back to our place where the boys, all coincidentally bears the same surname, play the card game.

And on Sunday, I had planned to bring Kaelyn out to a gathering after running some errands, however it had to be postponed to week after next since some of us couldn't make it and I am not sure if I can be on time.
Plans changed and so we went for grocery shopping in the afternoon.

Kaelyn's Lunar Birthday.

Today is Kaelyn's lunar birthday and I did a small celebration/ceremony at home to commemorate this milestone.

Looking at this sweet little girl, it just totally melts my heart and I sigh on how time flies. A (lunar) year ago, she was just a newborn baby...

I sometimes cannot believe, even though I see her everyday... the newborn was just like yesterday, and today, a year old lady. :x

Today we did the 抓周, like what I did for Ethan.
