my "first" cramp.

I had my first leg cramp few days back and now it's still painful.
Naughty little one. :)

In retrospect.

Looking back, I think for the past few months, most of my entries were either on the wedding preps or my emotions while undergoing these preps....

I realise I begin to blog lesser and lesser of my daily encounters and thoughts...

As the year 2010 comes to an end, I hope to start this coming new year 2011 with a blast -- Blissful marriage life; birthday celebration; a new life awaiting... a grown-up me & MrGoh...
and hopefully more meaningful blog entries to share. :)

Happy New Year to y'all! :)

early birthday pressie! :)

My birthday pressie arrived yesterday while I was having my second round of dinner at the sofa.

While I knew it arrived, I did not pester MrGoh for it. Instead I intended to wait patiently till the 1st or at least the 31st. :p

Surprise really caught me when I found it in my handbag this morning, left with a note! *uber sweet*

It's an Ipod Touch but I didn't bring it out with me to work cos I wanna go home and slowly savour the act of discovering the content in the Ipod Touch itself *MrGoh downloaded some stuff inside*. :)

~~~
就在昨晚临睡之前,我有种莫名汹涌而来得幸福、甜蜜的感觉。就觉得此时此刻,我是最幸福的!
说起来可能有点肉麻,但我觉得那是因为老公的疼爱及小小的甜蜜举动。在我的要求之下,他会帮我吹头发,即使没有那么早睡,他也会tuck me into bed first before he goes on to play games or do his stuff...虽然结婚短短没两个星期,但我相信all this little acts will be a lifetime commitment (right, hubby lubby?). :)
so much to share...
Now that the wedding's over, I have got so much to share on the wedding preps.
The final look of my chosen/mtm gowns, the DIY-ed angbao box and sweets and lots more.
BUT, the pictures are all at my parents' place. :(
Won't be able to share on the pictures till I return to my parents'. Probably will get them over the weekend since it's my Birthday! :)
Also, note to self, need to take the ATM card, Watsons' card & my shaver. ;p
birthday surprise.
Hubby lubby (yes, my newfound nickname for MrGoh) has got a surprise installed for me over the weekend that I was sick.
I was in bed drifting in & out of the drowsiness effect of my medication while I overheard him talked about some stuff... and he has been sneakily surfing the Apple website when I promptly inform him that he's at the wrong domain (he was at the US site but if he needs to make a purchase, he needs to go to SG site unless he has a US address & credit card).
I wanted to pretend that I didn't know anything but just yesterday evening, I couldn't contain my excitement anymore and I told him, "I know what you did last summer...hehehe". He immediately knew the cat went out of the bag. :p
But to not spoil the whole surprise element, I stopped myself from finding out more...I don't know what he got for me exactly (though I know it's an Apple product).
lalalalala~
I await the pressie. :)
sick christmas...
Christmas Eve is supposed to be packed with activities but who knows, the 1st appointment that greeted me on the eve was a GP visit for runny & blocked nose. :(
So I have to cancel plans to watch the free movie from our staff gathering and attend the xmas party at MrGoh's auntie's place. :( To think that we even got the pressies on Wednesday. :(
Anyway, I had a great date before Christmas with MrGoh on Thursday. We went back to my parents' place for dinner and then to Yishun for movie. :)
Love my hubby ttm. :)
capturing intimate moments - AD PG & VG
Another write-up detailing our search for Actual Day(AD) Photography(PG) and Videographer(VG).
I deem the AD PG and VG as very important item on the wedding list, following the banquet venue and bridal studio, so I took a long time sourcing for suitable quotes and meeting them.
I got our 1st quote on the AD PG & VG from our bridal boutique but I still feel safer to keep a lookout on others in the market.
Again, from the SGBrides forum, I got recommendations for this guy named Jacky to quote. To be honest, I wasn't quite impressed by the way he replied my email; in his 1st email reply to my enquiry, there was no paragraphing, i.e. all in one sentence and no exact quote. Being skeptical yet giving him the benefit of doubt I replied to his queries and asked for more details. Again, no paragraphing and little elaboration on the details in the package. All short and sweet. I must say though his price is within my tiny budget, I didn't shortlist him because of the presentation.
Then I got recommendations like Clip production & Moving Pics via the SGBrides forum again.
Am glad to find out that CLIP is still available for AD PG and VG & their quote for both items are just off our budget by a tiny weeny bit. However, I thought of getting more quotes so I left it at that. It was only after the CNY I made an appointment to meet them with MrGoh.
I feel that the feel and skills are alright so I thought no harm shortlisting more while having them in mind, I set out to look for more AD PG & VG.
For AD PG, I got to know this PG who has taken pictures for an ex-colleague's recent weddings, so we met him up and had a month to consider to use him or not.
Then came Moving Pics VG. I felt that his skills wasn't that consistent (from the sample videos from real weddings taken by him), as in some are shaky, some are alright but the price is within my budget so I enquired with him to find that he's taken. I wasn't that upset anyway so I continue my AD VG search.
I went on to enquire with the more well-known ones, like Raymond Phang, Derrick Ong, Lighted Pixels, The Wedding Paparazzi, AlvinAdeline, Substance films, Ichiro and Fotowerke, hoping their prices are not so steep so we can make slight adjustment to our budget to accommodate them. As expected, all the quotes I got are far cries from our budget.
Then my cousin told me about Yappies Production. Googled for his website and saw his price package which is very much within my budget. However I never got to meet him cos he too, was taken for my wedding. :( sad.
Tired of searching, I went back to CLIP and requested for a second meet-up to finalise & discuss on the finer details. At the back of my mind, I was thinking, if the team can provide what I need, then it's a deal. And just nice, they can, so it's a deal sealed with our cash deposit! :)
I must say, the team of 2 is quite accommodating and left me a much better and more friendlier impression than the first. :)
Following the confirmation of CLIP for VG, I also confirmed CS Lim from 2Gether Photo (formerly AM.PM photo) for my AD PG.
-Post-review-
Looking at the express highlights for the 1st time during the dinner, I knew I made the right choice on our AD VG. I'm now waiting for the post-processed tape to be ready. :)
Likewise, the AD PG made us all comfy with his photography. :)
Thumbs up for both my AD PG & VG! :)
on Our Wedding Venue.
Yes, here's a review as promised.
Personal experience right from the start till the end.
I remember writing on how we came to this choice of hotel and I wasn't very pleased with the first Hotel coordinator then. I won't elaborate on the unhappiness (since I think I have wrote enough on that) but at the same time, I do not want to discount her efforts to help me clinch some of the perks/work on my portfolio while having a difficult time (her pregnancy & etc).
Anyway, I was glad that I met Lois from Yours Truly wedding and Christin, my wedding planner who encouraged me to voice out my thoughts to the Hotel management and finally got a change to one of the betterbest ("better" is an understatement) events manager in Shang, Veronica.
She's not only friendly and prompt in her replies. Her service attitude also makes me feel better even if my request gets rejected; though she's quite accommodating to my requests most of the time. And she goes out an extra mile to get things done, imo. :)
As the wedding date draws near, she's there to offer timely advice to us, the noob-couple at wedding, rather than just plainly facilitating (which she could just do that).
Of the hotel service staff... the first food tasting didn't go well... neither was the service attitude of the banquet staff & chef pleasant/friendly.
But after feedback, our second food tasting went rather smoothly, and this time, the staff were prompt & helpful, so is the chef. :)
Another person that made my day is the events coordinator (who assists the events manager), Jenny. She's prompt in her replies and sounded friendly over the phone too! :)
To be honest, I don't really know what went on around during the AD dinner, thanks to our coordinator & MrGoh's band of brothers. With them around, we never had to fret over the slightest things.
However, with some of the feedback I got after the dinner, I was a little upset. :( With the food & service...
Other than that, we're really happy with our valley wing suite! It has a private room with bath & a separate living room where we can host the guests.
Over our 2 nights stay, we had my family hanging out awhile til 2plus on the AD and 2 friends staying over on the 2nd night. :)
Special thanks to my wedding team! :)
Without you girls & guys around, our wedding event wouldn't be so memorable & successful! :)
Also, to all the guests, I'm really sorry for being a bad host, cos I was all tired and busy running around, I didn't manage to talk to each & everyone of you... my apologies. :x
break from work. finally.
The initial plan was to take half day today and work tomorrow and then on wedding leave for Thursday and Friday but at the eleventh hour, we need to find time for the rehearsal and the only timing available is on Wednesday noon.
The only option is to take leave for Wednesday noon. God knows, the muddle-headed me cannot remember whether I applied for half day or full day. A check this morning shows I applied for full day and my direct boss has already approved of it. :x
Heck it. Also better for me. More rest and time to do any stuff I left out. :)
ROM certificate collection later in the noon. :)
4 more days to the wedding.
Looking at the to-do list, everything seems on track except for some items not jotted down on the list, e.g. gatecrashing stuff to buy + livestudios design & coordination. :)
surprises...
Just a few days ago, I received two more wedding gifts, one from my colleagues and one from my sweet cousin, Felicia.
I'm truly surprised cos I never thought or expected gifts; neither did it cross my mind that one will prepare wedding gifts for one's loved ones/close friends. :)
I got a couple cups from two of my colleagues who couldn't make it to my wedding. Though it's nothing pricey or branded, it's totally touched me cos it's the effort they made to get the pressie and got it wrapped up really nicely...it's really the thought that counts. :)
Then I have the customised gift from my cousin. I know she really spent time (& money) to get the stuff done. It really makes me a little guilty that I haven't done anything for her in a long time man... :x I just hope she can make it in time back for my wedding. :)
Oh, speaking of which, I will try to take pics of the gifts and upload here when I am free. :) *still owe the pictures for Jonna's gifts.* :p
of GDL.
2 weeks to the BIG Day and we had the Guo Da Li in the morning.
Woke up early in the morning, had breakie & helped in the preparations before MrGoh announced that he's making his way to my place.
After the GDL, went back with him to his place to go offer prayers to his grandfather.
Too tired to elaborate; let pictures do the talking. More pics with the sister. :)
steamboat & gossip galore. :)
It was definitely nice meeting up with the babes again last evening for steamboat after our last meet up in August at Mad of Garlic.
Though only 4 of us turned up, we had fun catching up with each other, teasing and gossiping. :)
At the same time, I'm glad that I'm almost done with the invites distribution which I foresee can be done by this week! :)
a gift from half the globe across :)
I am all smiles now! :)
This parcel actually took quite long to reach me, despite reaching Singapore last Friday.
My mom called me last weekend and informed me about the delivery note left at out door by SingPost, addressed to me. Since it's weekend and they don't operate so I thought I would leave it till Monday to arrange for re-delivery.
Came Monday and I cleanly forgot about it.
Then determined to call on Tuesday, I forgot about it again. :( Luckily the SingPost guy called and asked if he could deliver on Wednesday, which I knew no one will be home to receive. So I requested them to deliver to the nearest SingPost instead. At the same time, I knew this parcel's from Denmark, from the registered post number. :)
Got my mom to collect it on Thursday. And that's how this parcel took quite a while to reach me.
Went to movie with my colleagues, Evelin & Kevin, then got home rather late to unwrap the pressies. I really appreciate snail mails and the hand-written cards. I even got hand-made cards. *how sweet!*
Yes, I am determined to make them something for Christmas too. Though it will come a tad late for them but I don't want them to miss out much for my wedding. :)
p/s: pictures in a while! :)
of 2nd food tasting. :)
This time round, everything went well.
Even the service staffs' attitude are so prompt, friendly & helpful, making it a all-rounded wonderful experience.
We saw a mock up of the guest table & VIP table settings. *uber like the guest tables!*
No pictures yet cos keeping the theme a surprise element. :)
Need to contact Christin to tie up the loose ends soon. :)
Uber tired.
The same colleague commented on my tiredness again. Yes, today I'm feeling slightly more tired than other days. :(
On half day leave, bringing my mom out to settle her dress problem.
She bought a dress after many shopping sessions, to find it with defect!!! :(
Okie, let's hope it turns out well. :x
side note; managed to settle the layout & arrangement thingy liao. Another item/load off my mind. :)
at the Bridal boutique. :)
Hurray! Finally saw my MTM EG!
Was at the bridal boutique for first fitting last evening and god knows, I accomplished more than I expected.
I did my first fit on the MTM EG, confirmed my WG and tried on the KUA.
Then I confirmed my layout pictures (though not viewed in high resolution) and now I am left with confirming the sequence. :)
Also confirmed my bridal bouquet and the dates for daddys'/uncles'/bestmen suit fitting. :)
Without the cheena lady around was sucha breeze. I got what I asked for and apparently it's not so mafan lor... boohoo~
Looking forward to first week of December to see my fully done MTM EG! :)
2nd food tasting session tonight! :)
MTM EG & Album layout.
Just got the phone call an hour ago that my MTM EG is finally ready for trial!
Have made an appointment this Saturday to do the viewing and will confirm the time with MrGoh later after work! :)
Also got the edited album layout via email. 3 letters. CMI.
My god, I almost fainted. *okie, exaggerating but totally not what I have envisioned* And I am beginning to suspect if my sister's guess is true - the lady-in-charge of the album is the designer behind the scene; which explains why no one could take on her work during her September holies and all.. :(
The editing work is really mediocre! Truly spells of cheena favour, if you get the drift. :(
I had a dream...
On Tuesday night, while waiting for MrGoh's return, I fell asleep and had a dream.
To be honest, at this point in time, I am still puzzled and wondering why I had such a dream.
I am still trying to figure out what it signifies... or is trying to mean.
They say 日有所思,也有所梦 (loosely mean: you dream of the things that are constantly on your mind) but to begin with, the male lead in the dream is one person I haven't spoken to in the last 5years?
Perhaps I have been reading/thinking about something connected to him...
Still, this dream is so surreal.
It better be due to the over-reading of stuff and not others... Imagine it's so scary to have other implications. (No, I shan't go into the details of the dream.)
I seriously hope it has no other meaning and it's just a tired mind that's hallucinating.
On the other note, it's another lazing holies. Supposed to do this and that but all's cancelled due to MrGoh oversleeping&excuses and the bad weather. :(
over the weekend...
I know I should have updated this space with the happenings over the weekend but I am getting really lazy.
So I had my Bachelorette party on Friday. It wasn't the crazy party that everyone went drunk and wasted (unlike MrGoh's - he had his Bachelor night on the same night as mine), in fact, it's a healthy - no alcohol party.
Because I was late, we had to settle for dinner nearby (at FEP's Ramen Ten).
Then we proceeded back to the hotel, for the girls to try on their bridemaids dresses.
I can't say for the rest but I had helluva laughing good times watching the girls dressing up. ;p
We wanted to take a group picture but I realised we didn't take any group photo. :(
Anyway, the night ended with everyone's tired, but some of us still went out for supper (famous Teochew porridge) at Havelock Rd.
Thank you girls, for making time for me. :)
The following day, together with Vel&BIL, we brought sweet cousin Angelia out for her prom dress. In my opinion, prom night is really an event to look forward to during school days -- to dress up and out stand the rest, but it's usually associated with $$, so I never once attend a prom. Yea, I was a poor student back in school days.
Later in the afternoon, dad&mom joined us at Orchard to look for his shirt. We spent hours deciding and looking for a new piece. Finally, we were told that the Bishan outlet has what we want. :) So after dinner, we separated ways, with them heading to Bishan before home to get the stuff and me back to MrGoh's place. :)
I'm glad Dad's happy with his buys and I'm finally a G2K member - yes, I paid for his buys. I remember the other time, we purchased over S$800plus worth of G2K stuff but we are not entitled to be the member cos its member application period is in March-April. No use complaining also; I recall writing a feedback/complaint to them regarding this issue but all they said was they would review. :( Currently they are having some promotion, thus explains the membership thingy...
Speaking of G2000, I remember buying a jacket (those formal kind) but I never got to wear it. :( What a waste of money. Am contemplating to sell it away. :(
p/s: let me know if any of you needs the membership discount for G2000. I have it now! yippie hurray~
i'm glad i did...
... raise the concerns over the food-tasting issue.
Okay, the story goes like this.
We went for our first food tasting in mid-October and I thought we could finalise the menu together with the table linens & setting. It turns out that we had to change most of the dishes and the session concluded that we are returning for a second food-tasting (chargeable, of course).
And so, after much discussion, the price's set and the 2nd food tasting was scheduled on the 9th Nov. Then two days prior, it was decided it's not worth the money for 5dishes and we took the plunge to cancel the session and proceed with the banquet on the Actual Day without any tasting session.
Then I was asked to get some assurance from the Hotel regarding the food quality for the Actual Day. I know this can be difficult, in fact, impossible since taste is really subjective.
Caught in between and not wanting things to turn ugly (should things go wrong in the end), I went on with the request, of course with the help of my planner.
I guess I was lucky that my Hotel coordinator was kind enough to take the initiative and went an extra mile to ask her director for permission and extend a complimentary food-tasting session (of the 5 dishes to be changed) for us!
So now, we have the second food tasting session again, scheduled for end of Nov. :)
I'm really thankful now! :)
some updates.
I was supposed to do tonnes of stuff over the long Deepavali weekend but I had to be bed-bound and cancelled all my activities!
On the other note, food-tasting is cancelled due to some reasons and we are confirming the menu without further tasting.
Now, awaiting the Hotel's reply on the sequence of the dishes to be served.
Need to do more calls later in the afternoon to (re-)schedule the appointments that I've just missed or need to make. :(
feeling the heat.
As the Wedding date draws closer, I am feeling more and more breathless.
I hate to think that I still got tonnes of stuff un-done;
I hate to know that I have got appointments and schedules to plan;
I hate to be waiting for replies here and there;
I hate to have to be physically present to get things moving;
I hate to be the only one pushing for this and that
I hate to be feeling all tired and can't do anything after work
-- I just hate it.
Still, time to get down to planning the weekends' schedule. :x
p/s: Much as I'm totally not for the idea of scrapping the flower-girls & page boys, we'll need to do so in view of the budget & possible hiccups. :x
Sometimes I wished for a simpler affair. :x
over the weekend.
Though I have been working overtime for most of the days in the past week, it's a relatively short week for me at work as I took leave on Friday to collect the some stuff from Canon at Vivocity. Before setting off, I even took the time to the post office and mailed out my first batch of invitation cards to my dear friends. :) note;If you don't get it, I'll probably pass you by hand. :)
Still pending 3 or 4 replies and deciding if I should invite more people. I can't decide! :( Hopefully I can make up my mind soon. :)
Re-organised my to-do list and hell, it's not even November yet and the list is getting SOoooooo Long already! :( note;actually I moved some of the un-done agenda from October to November since it's Halloween today! :x
Hopefully I can clear some of them by 1st week of November.
On the other hand, Bachelorette's night is tentatively set on the 12th Nov, Friday. Seriously, too many things are on my mind now & I can't really decide on what I want... perhaps a unwinding session with the girls. :)
Am heading to the bridal studio in a while with sister.. hopefully things will go well too. To be honest, I'm getting a little impatient with the coordinator handling the albums... :(
p/s: MrGoh, I need you to be a little more supportive and proactive now, though you are sick. :x
side; at last, I saw the ending I want, between the elders. Hopefully, I get my wish too. :)
the little one.
At first, it was just speculation, then self-confirmation.
Then today, it's the professional's confirmation! :)
Officially the little one is here. :)
It sure feels weird when I first knew it.
But after a heart-to-heart talk with MrGoh, I'm assured everything will be alright. :)
Without me knowing, he secretly broke the news to his parents and grandma. I told my sister on Sunday and confirmed the news again with her this morning after the GP visit.
Since I was given an MC, we decided not to waste it and immediately scheduled a Gynae visit. It was also then I broke the news to my mom. She's elated!
Coincidentally, Dad was home early cos he's not feeling well. I broke the news to him personally and he too, was delighted. :)
I am still trying to get used to this idea. :D
of traditional chinese wedding stuff shopping
So yesterday, together with Mom, sis&BIL and Tricia, we went to Jurong to shop for my GDL stuff.
For the first time, I stood inside the shop for nearly 2-2.5hours and close to 500bucks!
Anyway, I later learnt that one of the shop-keeper (family business) used to be my dad's playmate back in Lim Chu Kang kampong days. But that didn't render us any discount. In fact, the lady put it very nicely across to us saying, "this is for marriage, cannot be discounted" (something along this line).
After Jurong, we went to Chinatown where I got the pajamas and some stickers and angbao packets. :)
The whole shopping trip for the day cost slightly over 500bucks plus. Didn't expect it to be so expensive! :x
Anyway, just for reference, these are the things I bought:
  1. Bed Linen set
  2. Table lamps
  3. Tea set
  4. Potty
  5. Basin
  6. Bath tub
  7. Sewing kit with accessories
  8. Angbaos packet
  9. Stickers
  10. Ruler
  11. ... to be update cos can't remember liao... :p
一个不一样的周末
This is indeed a "different" weekend though we had our usual Mahjong session before one of my dear kakis go off for labour and we busied ourselves with the wedding preps.
I have been wanting to pay MrGoh's grandma a visit since our return from Bangkok but sad to say, we I couldn't find time till Friday. Affinity I guess, I hope I can make it a more regular affair to visit her.
Then we met Grace from Sing See Soon again, on Saturday. This time round, things were more conclusive; we are awaiting her proposal now. Hopefully we don't need to top up too much. :(
In the evening we went to East Coast for Long Beach seafood, advance dinner celebration for MrGoh's mom. Proceeded to MBS after the dinner. No, not for the Casino, too broke to afford the levy and capital to gamble. We were there for the hotel and Skypark. Woohoo. It's indeed spacious and the only regret, not being able to take a swim in the infinity pool. :(
Will be going out today to see the GDL stuff and back to MrGoh's place for second round of celebration.
More updates on today later. :)
getting started... halfway through...
For the past few days since we've gotten the invites, the task of writing names has always been on my mind.
And I concluded I'd need a pen. Not just any other normal pen but one with ink that stands out from the gold ink from the inserts. I have trouble deciding it and finding one while I was at SSC's Popular on Wednesday. :( So I gave up the idea.
Last Evening, I decided to get started with the invites writing regardless of the pen - thinking I would just use a normal pen. I just want to get things moving at this point, after all the upsetting stuff (read here and here).
So even with my invite list incomplete, I am determined to start on those who have RSVP-ed.
Upon getting started, I was toying with the idea of printing the names. Just then, MrGoh called and told me his parents did exactly the same thing! So I'm more certain and confident on achieving it!
Then another idea came up! *bulb lights up*
That is, to ask Dad if he wants his invites to be printed too! Needless to say, he's keen. We started exploring the different fonts and finally we got a font he's happy with.
You know, the title addressing the relatives can be a bit confusing and complicated. So we were trying to figure out the "right" appropriate/suitable/formal way as we get the names printed. The easier ones will be Dads' friends, with 先生,女士/夫人 as the title. Here comes the more complicated ones as we moved on - the relatives, you have the 姻姨,襟兄/弟...etc. Thus this explains why we are halfway through the task cos some requires further clarification. :x
Chinese inputs on the computer are always more troublesome, in terms of writing & printing - making sure the layout, etc is balanced. So when I did mine, after Dad's done with his for the time being, it was a breeze. The only problem I have was to decide to meet up or send out the invites via mail. :x Therefore, I am, like Dad, half done cos I don't have all the addresses and I cannot decide to mail or meet. :x
But I am some how satisfied with my progress. :)
Will continue after the weekend. :)
Hazey dazey...
Yes, the haze is here again.
I can't remember when the term "PSI" was invented/ became widely known but it definitely left a deep impression on me. Seeing this term on the papers recently reminded me that back in those school days, I was always praying for the PSI to go beyond the safety level and we could all get a day off. *evil I know* But it never happened.
The news read that yesterday's PSI hit a high 80. I am secretly hoping for a day off work tomorrow. :x
Anyway, this isn't the gist of my post today.
I am confused. Messed up.
Wedding date's nearer but look at my list. *pouts*
Then the honeymoon trip, we are not any where getting nearer to the final destination. :( Long story but I'll save it for another post, if I remember. :x
Was looking for the stands for the cards but can't find a suitable one. *sulks*
Then the food-tasting... another episode. :(
Come the MTM and album layout. I am dying! :((((((
I may look forward to the big day but I am no longer enjoying or am bothered by the preparation process.
I am as hazy as the haze now. :(
upset.
Life's like a roller coaster. I had a good time over the weekend and now, I am frantically in search for a good (note: I won't even dare to use the word best) deal available to us.
The travel agency just reverted.
Looks like it's either we top up $$ or change the destination or do away with Honeymoon. :(
I am hoping for a miracle.
How?
of a fruitful weekend.
Of this weekend, we did a lot of stuff - wedding & non-wedding related.
*beams in happiness*
On Friday, we had the usual fun with my beloved mahjong kakis over the mahjong session and we ended just in time for 'kok-kok' mee! Have been craving for the noodles since 2 weekends ago and finally I got to eat it! :)
Then yesterday, we went to Expo for the Natas fair with the 'look-see look-see' mindset. Now that we have a destination in mind, I'm still awaiting confirmation. Just checked on-line and it seems that online gives a better rate & it's only a 3* resort... :( So are we being fleeced? I don't know. I try not to think about it. Since it's honeymoon, let's make it a fuss-free & planning-free trip so I take the difference in the online rates & agency rates as premium for that. :)
Then we went to collect our invites before heading back to MrGoh's for his uncle's house-warming party near his place. :)
Our day much-less started in the afternoon, with me going to the Jewellery shop to exchange my ring which MrGoh's mom bought me as the traditional 四点金 to a bigger size. One info I learnt while we were buying MrGoh's ring (as a gift from my parents) is that gold ring sizes is larger than platinum ring's/wedding band's.
Thereafter, we return to my place to give my parents the invites as well as fetch my mom to facial. She has this really serious milia seeds problem. :(
Left the facial shop for Courts@Bt Timah to see if there's any suitable dressing table shortly after. Eventually we got ours at Novena Furniture beside Courts. Have arranged for delivery at the end of the month. *yippie* :)
More activities coming up this week. Need a haircut soon! :)
of food tasting.
Finally the much anticipated food tasting day is HERE! :)
Note sure if I had exceedingly high expectations on the Hotel and I thought they would drop us a gentle reminder prior to the food-tasting session. But nothing came, and I was left worrying should I call to remind the Hotel or should I not.
So this afternoon, I contacted my wedding planner for advice and she called them to confirm on my behalf. One reason for my hesitance to call is because I just spoke to the hotel coordinator last week, and I sort of brought up the fact that we are going to have food-tasting today. This should serve as a reminder for both her and myself, so wouldn't it be silly to call her & confirm again. Yet, on the other hand, I cannot help but worry since they are busy people.
Okie, I digressed.
So the parents met again. Fourth time to be exact.
This time with more interactions.
So we had MrGoh's parents, his aunt&uncle, my parents, my sis&brother-in-law, MrGoh and I at the food tasting. :)
We decided on our table linens before the food tasting session started. One item of the to-do list. :)
Now, verdict on the food:
It's a 9 course dinner and the 1st 3 dishes are nicely presented with great taste.
It's only the 4th dish - a fish dish that triggered a string of comments.
Some parts are chewy and some not. I feel that the sauce became a little salty as we proceeded on to finish the dish. :(
Then we had the prawns. Its serving presentation was colorful and interesting. Also commendable is that the prawns were shelled. However due to the salty sauce fish we had earlier, we were kinda sick with the prawns cooked in a similar sauce. The only thing we liked are the buns that came with it.
Following, we had chicken. Not too bad (though I personally don't like Ginseng) but again, it's cooked with a similar sauce to the previous 2 dishes (in my opinion). :(
Then we had broccoli, it was a-o-kay only (not a fan of vegetables).
The last dish before dessert, noodles. It was smooth but very salty. Most of us had one mouthful and the rest to the bin. How bad! :(
As for the dessert, it's just dessert. Nothing much.
We came to a conclusion that we are going to re-arrange the menu and change some dishes, either with another dish or method of preparation. :(
sidenote; Happy 14th! :)
OMG!!!
OMG, it's here again!
It's the PIMPLES! I just saw 2 potential bumps. :(
A result from lack of rest/sleep.
I have been telling myself to rest early before the start of this week as I just barely recovered on the 'poke-d face' and I knew those where consequences from lack of sleep. :(
But too bad, the whole week (up til today) is packed with activities that saw me sleeping at unearthly hours! :(
Am looking forward to weekends where I can have more rest.
Am planning to visit the hair stylist next week though I would love to squeeze some time out of Sat to do it; but I reckon MrGoh won't like it cos we will be heading to Expo then Jurong to his ah-ma's place. Totally not on the way.
I need to run an errand, in fact, 2 now, at Harbourfront next week too.
Activities lined up for next week = haircut, harbourfront, florist. Need a real haircut soon cos my hair looks really "cui-ed". :(
Need to organise a date for the sisters to meet again. Maybe after next week. :)
New Accessories. :)
Dad just got us a new accessory. A 4-in-1 printer with wi-fi options. :)
I always dream of getting a network printer, making printing wireless and more convenient but it's an added cost. Besides, our HP printer is so o'trusty, it never had any problems for the past 10years++, so I never have the excuse to buy one. Oh, not to mention, we've got a least 2 spare printers at home. Don't ask me why.
No one can fathom why Dad made the purchase, or should I put it, without hesitance, except me!
That's because his fax machine broke down recently and he wanted to get a replacement. :D
Since the price is almost the same as a fax machine and this printer model only cost 60bucks more for the one with wi-fi, he gladly made the purchase. :)
Back home, we unpacked the box and done are we with the set-up&test except for the fax functionality! :)
Prior to the printer shopping, we went to the goldsmith and got MrGoh's ring. I didn't manage to get any stuff because it was either too expensive or I don't fancy the designs. Another time for me then.
A new knowledge picked up at the goldsmith shop. Wedding band ring size != gold ring size.
And before we did all the shopping, MrGoh decided to come over for dinner at the eleventh hour and we did the ROM notice filing. :)
Appointment date on 14th Dec. Our get-to-know anniversary date.
Though we are getting hitched on the 18th, it's comforting to know we will make a trip down to the ROM on 14th. :)
Oh, may I add, our Guo Da Li's date is confirmed some time mid of last week (if I got it right) - 2weeks prior to the Actual Day! :)
many minds.
Following the discovery of the "fun trip incident", I was feeling hateful for some time, until some wise folks advised me to move on. Although I never spoke of that incident again, I would often remind myself to be on my toes and not create opportunity to set tongues wagging.
Soon I am subtly passive and indifferent towards them. I knew this isn't me, but I have no choice. I was told so. There's nothing else I can do except for striving to be independent of them and insist on doing my part and giving my share; in one way or another. I can't be too obvious in making up though. That again, might set tongues wagging.
Once, the topic relating to the incident was brought up again, in my presence. I was all prepared to defend myself but too bad, no one dared was concern enough to kick start the issue about me.
When I heard for myself the 2 different stories, my face cringed. I felt weak-hearted and almost collapsed. I swear. I didn't offer a word. I didn't want to stay around for a second longer cos even just my presence felt like I was standing by her words. Yet on the other hand, I wanted to stay and listen to what she has to say and see if I have the opportunity to clear my name. Or I thought so.
Expectedly, how would the guilty party own up to his/her actions. I was naive.
Anyway, this is not all.
I just got another shit.
I know I have no bargaining power this time cos I need their help. A help with self/vested-interest yet proclaimed as genuine.
I hope all these come to an end; Soon.
But having said all these, I won't deny I still enjoy the times together, less of these shit.
decision made.
I have made my decision, in fact eons ago.
But I thought there was no need to. :(
Apparently I was so wrong.
Okie, mental note made to keep to it so there won't be any conflicts of that interest. :)
Another 2 days to the 14th. :?
I wonder if...
sidenote; Bumped into Ting today at YCK station. :) I was so late. I wonder is it the same for her?
Eventful day. :)
I thought I could sleep in a little later today. I planned to.
But Dad needs my company to Ubi for his License renewal and change some car parts so we set off real early in the morning, earlier than my usual wake up time. :(
Today saw my company having staff teambuilding at OBS - East Coast Campus, thus that explains my initial intention to wake up late and be at the venue in the noon when the real activities start. :)
Then at 10am, we were done for the morning and I left on a cab to ECP. The stupid taxi uncle just conned me of 10bucks. I was busy with my phone and I suspect he took the longer route and in between did some U-turn. :(
I got to OBS and the guest speakers (our company invited) were still giving their talks and I sat in til lunch. It rained when we were about to start the games and we thought they were going stop everything. Thank goodness the rain came and went, and we continued with the games.
I am glad that out of the 4 games, I did three. We also achieved the objective of the games and went on to clinched FIRST with thumbdrives as award! ;)
Poor thing MrGoh got to OBS at 4.30pm, only to have waited for an hour for me to finish up with the teambuilding workshop. :(
Off we went to the bridal boutique, saw our layouts and confirmed some details. Disappointing. I don't know how to describe it but there was the other couple who were there to view their layout too, and theirs was nice. Ours is too plain and normal, except one page I was super pleased. :(
So we gotta wait another ten days for the viewing again! :(
Back at MrGoh's place, I saw the cards. Nice but I find that the wordings are too small. I hope the older guests will have no problem with them. :x
Status quo on the to-do list. I don't like. :(
way too bored.
I have been looking at my blog over and over again for the whole afternoon except for the time I was in a meeting with a prospective vendor.
This goes to show how bored am I.
I wanted to write something but I have no content.
Thus explains this entry. :x
Seriously I haven't been blogging much these days.
Reason being, I don't have a content or I don't have the words.
More often than not, I feel is the latter.
I just cannot find the right word(s) to beautifully express my thoughts.
I envy bloggers who can write in clear, simple yet interesting English. I can't. Sad.
And even when I do update the blog with something, it's the same old thing about anticipating the same upcoming events for the wedding preps.
I am looking for inspirations to write.
Let me know if you have any interesting reads on the web.
I remember coming across one or two blogs where the authors write with charm but too bad, I didn't save the link. :(
I'm still bored. :(
a good talk.
We had a good talk over the phone last night.
At least I thought it was good.
A chance for me to air my views and grievances.
A chance for him to understand my thoughts.
A chance for him to broaden his visions, our future.
I hope everything will fall nicely into place soon. :)
On another good note, I'm looking forward to tomorrow, which is FRIDAY!!! where I get to strike off a few more items on the to-do list.
Almost forgot about filing a Notice at the ROM site.
Good thing MrGoh&his mom reminded me. Though we still have plenty of time, I am thinking of doing it over the weekend. :)
I'm damn impatient now...kept looking at the list, thinking of what I could have missed out and yet at the same time, can't wait to strike off all the items on the list. :(
Farewell Mrs Lee.
After reading all the recent news articles and viewing all the documentaries on the late Mrs Lee K Y, it was easy to tell how deep was the love of MM and Mrs Lee for each other.
I wonder if MrGoh and I could be like them. Loving and caring for each other, literally as the words put it, till death do us part.
Did I even say, the day Mrs Lee passed on, is the very day MrGoh proposed to me. Exactly a year ago...
It is indeed a loss for her family, and our country, for she's the woman behind the Man of Singapore, the man who made Singapore what we are now. :x
74days to the BIG Day!
Time flies.
Another 74days.
I can't wait for this Friday to see the layout;
I can't wait for this weekend to see the cards that I've printed (since MrGoh was the one who collected it);
I can't wait to meet the florist to finalise the venue decor;
I can't wait for next Thursday to confirm the menu and table linens at the food tasting. :)
I can't wait for Natas fair to come and we shall see where it fly us to!
arggh... all have to wait...
Time to do the Montage T + photoshoot pictures and the cones & candies holders!
Need to get the backup CD for wedding march-in.
done done done~
Finally got my wedding pen!
It comes with an expensive price tag of fifty-three bucks!
But I'm happy! :)
Send my cards for printing and another item off the to-do list! :)
yeah~
so now, it's the pending project "V" and Photoshoot + T Montage! :)
Later next week will be album layout viewing and food-tasting the week after!
It's also then we will confirm the menu and table linen, and probably our wedding favors. :)
Right now, I'm just contemplating on the purchase of the small decor item from SellHerOnline. Should I DIY or should I buy COTS product?
Think Think Think...
*COTS = commercially off the shelf.
Wedding stuff.
I'm excited!
I just gotten the our childhood montage DVD from Joy.
Am really grateful to her and her brother, cos without them, I won't be able to get this montage done.
Unfortunately, I feel a little childish (yet accomplished) of my artwork. lol.
The last week of September is indeed a busy week for me -- having come to a few major conclusions.
First, we decided to borrow the wedding car from MrGoh's uncle, saving us the rental money.
Secondly, we have decided to go ahead with the LS and I have placed a deposit with them. Thanks Raj, for waiting for my deposit and offering the special price. :)
Thirdly, MrGoh has gotten down to work on his Groomsmen's attire and we have managed to get all of their attire during our BKK trip. :)
Now, I'm going to start on my Photoshoot & T Montage, hopefully I can send in the order by 3rd week of October, provided I get the raw photos by the 8th. :)
At the same time I shall work on project "V".
For the coming Saturday, I'm going to pay the printer a visit and get my cards printed.
And drop by The Wedding Mansion to see if the items are available at the price within our budget, otherwise I will have to trouble Joy's brother again! :x
Then I will head to Heeren to get my wedding pen. Decided not to procrastinate anymore. :x
Fingers-crossed and hopefully Saturday goes as planned.
of movies and censorship
Having taken a airplane recently gave me a perfect opportunity to catch some good movies which I might have missed out in the theatres.
Though a short 2+hours flight to Bangkok, the duration was just right for one quality movie less the take-off and landing time where in-flight entertainment is not available.
I guess waking up at 4plus in the morning to catch the early flight made me too tired to remember exactly what movie I watched on my way to BKK. Anyway, all I can remember was telling myself that I can always catch the movies on my way back and then falling asleep halfway through the movie.
On the way back home, I was equally tired and almost succumb to the call of 周公 to accompany him for a game of chess. Just when I was about to take a rest, MrGoh excitedly asked for my opinion on which of the 2 movies (he has shortlisted) should he pick. I browse through the catalog for the sypnosis and promptly chose "Chloe".
On the catalog, the sypnosis reads: When Catherine (Julianne Moore), a successful doctor, begins to question her husband David's (Liam Neeson) fidelity, she sets out to resolve her suspicions with the help of an alluring young woman, Chloe (Amanda Seyfried). Soon caught in a web of sexual desire, Catherine finds herself on a journey that places her family in great danger." and it's classified under the genre of thriller and drama.
It's not the content description that caught my attention, it's more of "thriller" and "drama" element that induces my choice. However, I did not feel any of it. :(
Maybe a little of the 'drama' element, cos what I thought was a normal movie turned out to be a R21 movie. Not just the usual man-woman but also, woman-woman. I was kind of disgusted but since it was almost the end of the movie, I went on to finish it.
To be honest, I am a little perturbed that this movie was not classified under adult content and is found on the in-flight entertainment system (nevermind which carrier it is).
So people, next time you fly with kids, make sure you know what they are watching! :)
panda eyes.
A female colleague stopped me on the hallway and said to me "你的黑眼圈越来越深,你是不是不够睡?"
To be honest, my health isn't in the best state recently.
Relaxed as I may seem to be, I know my body is worrying about the wedding stuff at the back of my mind.
I haven't had enough rest since coming back from Thailand as well.
I am hoping to get some of the things done by this weekend and take some load off my mind on the wedding stuff...*digress: and some time for dating too!*
Will send out the invitation to my colleagues next mon. Hopefully I don't get awkward stares or invite topics for 'discussion'. :)
first trip of the Year~ Thailand.
It was rather impromptu that we decided on the Thailand trip and like I mentioned in my previous posts, everything came so fast but I still managed to secure us a cheap flight & reasonable accommodation! :)
So I flew Singapore Air for the first time in my life!
Boy, was I excited and probably expecting a better flying experience, if not the same but who knows, I am kinda disappointed and concluded that I would prefer to fly Thai or Cathay!
First, my headset connector (for the in-flight entertainment) was loose and I kept having problem with the sound initially till I figured out to pressed it against it hardly once in a while.
Secondly, I requested for a blanket and it didn't come until 15-20mins before landing. I waited for a good 20mins after my 2nd request before I got the blanket. How great is SQ's service!
Then on the way back to SG, I realised I wasn't served a bun! Not that I'm a yao-gui but it shows the lapse in service!
Anyway, these are trivial stuff.
It's the air pressure of the plane that's ruined my flying experience with SQ.
I never had the airplane ear problem while flying other airlines (Thai, Cathay or NWA) and the pain was so bad, eating a sweet, repetitive swallowing of saliva didn't help. In fact, the pain went down the throat and I was feeling all uncomfortable at the back neck - spinal area! I thought I would just die! I really thought so.
So on the return flight I was prepared. This time, it's just the airplane ear pain, with the throat pain. No excruciating back neck pain - this, I'm thankful! :)
The whole trip was such a fun time, starting from our Airport transfer!
We had 2 big luggages and 2 small luggages. MrGoh's mom's friend's husband (complicated I know) came to pick us up with his own saloon car. 5 of us (excluding driver) with our baggages. So we had to squeeze 4 of us at the back seats and MrGoh's dad holding on to my luggage at the front seat. :)
We were laughing throughout the journey from airport to hotel.
After he dropped us off at the hotel, we did our check-in (the hotel was nice to check us in before 2pm; we got there around 10plus their local time), went for dim-sum brunch at the hotel then off to the 4-faced Buddha to pray.
while waiting for the Dim Sum to start...
The Dim Sum buffet... this is not all...
Not sure why but the Buddha statue wasn't in. The place that shelters the Buddha was covered up.
Then we took a taxi to Siam Paragon. My first time there, so it's like our Singapore's Paragon or Ion (top-floors) where all the high-end brands are housed.
We went over to Siam Center (beside Siam Paragon) and there's nothing much there, it's like Taka... with all the middle-price range items like Miss-Sixties, Esprit etc..
So we walked over to MBK (cos of the bad traffic) and did our shopping there!
After shopping, we headed back to hotel to keep our shopping loots and then out for dinner.
My first time on the Tuk-Tuk. On our way back to hotel from MBK.
The bellboy recommended us a place for dinner but we were conned by the taxi driver to another place and kenna 'chop' 3000+THB for a seafood dinner without fish, crab or lobster. The prawns we had are mediocre!
After dinner, we headed for Suan Lum night market. I was expecting a lot to shop like I did in my last trip back in 2007 but apparently times changed, it wasn't as crowded as before and most shops are closed. Not much bargaining to do too! Still, I bought a few dresses here and there! :)
The Suan Lum night market ended our first day in Bangkok and we return to Hotel to prepare for our next day's trip to Pattaya.
This MrGoh's mom's friend's husband is a local and coincidentally a tour-guide who speaks a little hokkien and fluent mandarin. So he led us to a one day trip to Pattaya, 2hour drive away from Bangkok.
Our first stop, Erawan Museum (3-headed Elephant Museum).
2nd stop, Lunch. We had real seafood lunch (with fish and mini-sized crabs and the usual) at 600++BHT! What a difference to the dinner we had the day before!
After lunch we went to the Silverlake. It's a grape vineyard actually but due to the wet season, there ain't much grapes around.
But the scenery is beautiful! If I have discovered this place earlier, I might have come here for pre-wedding shoots. One place, many background!
On our way, we passed by this mountain with a Buddha engraving. The tourguide told us, the Buddha outline was first laser-engraved and then gold-curved by hand. First in the world. It was a present to the King.
We then went on to see the long neck Karen.
I thought these tribal women are only found in Taiwan aboriginal tribes but no, and god, we had a good feel of the brass rings and boy, were they heavy!
After that, we went for Elephant riding. Indeed the smell (of their shit) is pungent but the ride was fun! :)
We even tried shooting with a .38 gun there. And this is my score sheet. :)
After that, we went to Pattaya's tallest building and tried the 'flying' activities. We had 3 options -- flying fox, speed rides and cable rides. Of course we can't be there just for cable rides so we tried the other 2 activities.
It was fun & relaxing for me! :)
Last of today activity -- to the Seaside for beach fun!
We tried Banana boat and Jet ski. This is my first time trying the former. :)
The driver was kind enough to 'drop' us nearer to the coast.
After the water activities we went for Massage which left us all yellow (due to the mud scrub).
Then BBQ dinner before we go off to Pattaya's Walking street which houses all the night spots. :)
It was about 12plus when we ended the walk and time to head back to hotel in BKK.
Day 3 saw the ladies at Platinum Fashion Mall after breakie while the men head to JJ weekend market. We were only on the 2nd floor (with one basement) when the guys returned to meet up with us so we left before completing the mall. Didn't manage to go to the Pratunam market or other malls around it. :(
Again, we returned to the hotel to keep our stuff and went to MBK again cos MrGoh's dad bought some remote control craft and it didn't work as expected.
While waiting for them, I got a cheong sum at 52SGD. I regretted not lowering the price further and thought this should be around the same price as what Singapore's Chinatown is selling. :(
After MBK, we returned to hotel for MrGoh's dad to check the planes while MrGoh and his sister went for a swim. I chose to slack around in the hotel cos I don't fancy the idea swimming and then bathing within a short time frame. :(
We left for Chinatown after everything was settled and had a quick dinner (Phad Thai & Birdnest). Did some shopping before returning to hotel to rest.
Met MrGoh's aunt&family at the hotel for Dim sum before returning to MBK again!
This time round, his dad MTM a suit (for our wedding) and went back to collect it. While waiting we did the fish spa! :)
After collection and a quickie massage, we returned to hotel, pack our stuff and off to the airport.
This pretty much sums up our Thailand trip! :)
