It's finally over! Woo! Hahaha. It was a gd performance, by both the RWINDS (and ESPECIALLY the alumni) and RJCSB. Pity the concert hall wasnt filled though. Ppl really missed out on a good concert. But nvm, there's always A Tempo next year =)


OKay, boring stuff
Today was sth like family day. Haha the whole family went out together! Quite a kewl day but somewhat ruined by a DVD rom...

In the morning, we went to have breakfast out at Killiney Kopitiam. Then, my father went to work, while my mom, my SPASTIC sis (she wants me to call tt) and me went to the botanic gardens. Then, the sis had to leave early for some basses chalet... HAH! oh well.. she missed out on quite a bit, coz we had jap for lunch, went funan to buy stuff, then went for an gym session.

Up till this part it was quite fun, but here comes the dumb part.. bought this game (Civ 4) thinking that we could upgrade the com later to suit its stupid sys requirements. Yea so on i go happily home, saving the game until after dinner to play.. THEN comes the horror! Erm. When i inserted the disc into my com drive... there was NO RESPONSE. the msg was.. insert cd into the drive.. then it shook me.. the game is a DVD rom, and although my com has two CD Drives (one CD player and one CD RW), IT HAS NO DVD DRIVE! OMG! n i didnt know abt this, so im stuck with an expensive unplayable cd together with a thick user manual that isnt any use to me except to make me feel like an idiot!

Maybe i can use this excuse to ask dad for a new com? MUahahahaha....

New Year Resolutions

its 1 WEEk b4 school. quite DUH really. but. b4 the new school year starts, i think i need to make some resolutions. never used to do it coz i thought it would be difficult for me to keep ANY resolutions that i made, BUT i shall give it a try this yr. maybe with peer pressure or public pressure through my blog.. i will be forced to keep those resolutions that i make...

JY's New Year Resolutions

• Sleep early! haha my mum says sleep b4 11! quite difficult lor
• Be less quiet? this one is difficult
• Ask more questions during class! need to clarify doubts
• Exercise more often! need to do 5 pullups by NAPHA
• Be more concerned abt my family!

tt's all; I can't make too many resolutions or i won't be able to keep track of them.. err.. then i need to draw up an action plan?! (sounding like pw.. okay just a brief one.. need to go soon)

1. plan my day properly.. keeping clear a list of things i need to finish.. (one word.. PRIORITISE)
2. erm.. voice out my thoughts more? cant force myself though
3. just ask lor
4. exercise on my own in addition to PE
5. tAlK to my family more often

is this it? 5 sentences for the whole year? shall need to have a more detailed plan though.. but i wont write it all here.. okay... does this sound LAME? but the truth is that i need to have more self discipline! HAHA!

christmas!

whee! christmas is here! u dun have to be christian to celebrate christmas! im not an expert on these matters but christmas is the time when jesus was born. And my sis' friend said that the most impt thing about christmas is the first 6 letters! hmm.. im neutral on the matter currently..

Didnt do much work today.. but the day was quite enjoyable..

DINNER!
today ate so much that my stomach almost burst.. hmm... it was really the limit.. coz i couldnt eat any more at all.. even when i forced myself.. but then again.. i have a very small stomach capacity.. only had a starters.. 2 rounds of "main course" and 2 rounds of dessert! hahaz... guess my sis and i are quite fortunate for my parents to be willing to splurge so much on food..

listened to james galway today.. he was playing carnival of venice.. eh i thought the way he did the transitions between the melody and the accompaniment was superb.. sounded like TWO flutes playing together.. haha his octave transition is seriously damn pro..

dun want to bore ppl... so thats all folks.. merry christmas and a happy new year! SMILE! :)

Holidays are ending! The inevitable dawn of the new school year approaches!
Stress stress and more stress.. too much work unfinished.. too many things
undone.. too many unfulfilled wishes...

note to self: eh from now on i must work things one at a time..

Random thoughts and Questions swirling in my mind:

Had band pract today and apparently we ran through all 4 pieces we're playing for CODA. ahaha, only 3 more practs before the big day..

for anyone who is interested, here's some details for the concert:

CODA by RWINDS (alumni band)

tics at 10 and 12 bucks from any rj band member

pieces include highlights from chess,

danza symphonica, takarajima,

four scottish dances and many others

oh, and since im bored, i shall include some tips on playing the flute here courtesy of gm's senior, mr alvine seville:

• embouchure shld not be too tight, in fact it should be quite relaxed
• dont tighten abouchure to play higher notes, instead move jaw slightly outwards. the same applies to playing at a lower volume
• sit/stand upright to ensure that air has a smooth path to flow through (applies to other wind instrus too i guess) - basically dont slouch
• ensure head is upright when playing - dont bend down to look at score, move ur eyes instead
• ensure that when flute is held, the instru can be balanced by the two hands and ur lips without any fingers on keys - this ensures stability during playing and greater agility i think
• dont hold the flute too high, in fact it can be slightly outwards (apparently mr james galway plays like tt)

yep.. tt basically sumarises what he said.. for best results, experiement with the flute yourself - coz i think the playing style varies from player to player

Haha spent a whole day doing up mine and my sisters blogs... arh well.. they're not fantastic but they'll do i guess... had a field day browsing through countless blogs as well... didnt accomplish much but i thought i found some pretty interesting blogs.. haha i must highlight benjamin's blog for its excellent design and very kewl PICS!! hmmm.. note to self: shld make use of the family camera more often..
