Cleaning House - Skylark

I Finally had a chance to sit and catch up on some scrapbooking! I wanted to use up my paper packs from the old Idea Book to make way for the new ones that I ordered. Today's focus was using up my Skylark paper pack. I talked about this line in my last post - like I said 'I am really going to miss it!' Its just so beautiful. When I signed up as a consultant I received the Skylark Workshop on the go kit, among numerous other things!! (Let me know if you want one for yourself). At first I thought the WOTG kits were a bit expensive but now that I used this one almost entirely I can see the value you get out of it. I created 3 great layouts and 3 cards plus all the WOTG's come with a full size stamp set you can use over and over again!

I still have to add photos to the pages, but tonight I just wanted to focus on making the layouts. Sometimes I get a brain block when I am trying to create a layout for specific pictures. I loved the freedom of just creating. Lets take a look at what I came up with...
I scraplifted this idea off of pinterest, there are numerous versions of it on there. To see some other variations follow the link to my pinterest page on the top, left hand side of my blog.

The page on the left I copied out of our Idea Book and then made the right page to go along with it. Pages like this are excellent for using up scraps. I tend to piece pages of scraps together onto a white sheet of 12 x 12 paper so I get the most out of a kit.

The page on the left was posted as part of an earlier post but I thought I would include the second page that goes along with it. These pages are not a great match but I was trying to use up my paper pack and I think they still look quite nice together.

I hope you were able to gain some inspiration! Happy scrapping!     - Kiera

Out With The Old - Brae-er Team Blog Hop July 2014

Welcome to our July Blog Hop that focuses on the products we LOVE from our current Idea Book. As you probably know this is the last month with our idea book before a new one comes out in August. We are very excited for our new book but are sad to say goodbye to the fantastic products that are retiring!

As you hop along with us you will see creations from our team that showcase their favorite products from the Close To My Heart Spring/Summer Idea book. To purchase any of the items seen in our blog hop today, kindly contact your local consultant to place an order. But do it quick - some of these items are retiring in just a few days!!

We hope that you will take the time to leave comments on our posts, as we really love feedback from our blog viewers....whether it was something that you really liked or some new technique that was used that you would like to learn how to do....by leaving us comments, we get to hear what you like, and what you want to see. Thank you… now on to our hop!

If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, but if you want to follow our team's blogs, then please start at the beginning and join Brae Montgomery at The Brae-er. If you came from Michelle of My Creations with Michelle then you are in the right place!

My creation features the Skylark paper line!! I just love this line! It may be because when I signed up as a consultant I was sent the entire line to play with so I have had lots of exposure to it! Not to long ago I posted a card on my blog that was created as a gathering project and I wanted to share the other part of the project with you. Someone posted the idea on one of the convention boards of making a card and then using the card as inspiration for a scrapbook layout. I loved the idea so I tried it out at one of my gatherings. Here is the card and the layout!

Supplies:
Skylark WOTG
Skylark Assortment
The flowers were cut with the Artbooking cartridge.

Your next stop on the Team Braer Hop is Carol-Anne Grenier who has a fantastic project for you!
If you get lost along the way, you can head to  Brae's blog, as she has the complete blog list.

Thanks for hopping along with us - we hope we were able to inspire you to get creative using some of the designs, products and techniques seen along the way.

Sunburst Cards!!!

Hello out there in the blogworld!!!
Tonight I was being very lazy watching TV, finishing Season 2 of Orange is the New Black! Love it! Fantastic finale... if you haven't watched it yet go watch it now, I'll wait!

Glad you're back! It was Fantastic right???  I know!

Anyways, after I finished it I made myself go downstairs to my basement studio and make some cards. I have been meaning to try out the sunburst technique for some time now. I finally did and I have to say I love it! It is so simple but turns out some really nice results. If you are unsure how to make one simply look it up on youtube, there are fantastic tutorials on there including the one I followed, thank you very much DOstamping!! I think she did a really good job with this tutorial, even if she is promoting our competitor's products ;)
Here is the first card I made!

I made this card using Close to My Heart's Skylark Workshop on the Go kit (G1072), all the paper and the stamp are included in this kit.

I also used 2 random blue gems and a strip of Teal Shimmer Trim (Z1918)

For my second card I want to give a shout out to Jillibean Soup!! They had a birthday blog hop a couple of weeks ago and I happened to be one of the lucky winners! They sent me a fabulous birthday kit (which I think cost more to ship to me in Ontario then the kit cost!) My second sunburst card was made using that kit! Thanks Jillibean Soup!!! And thank you for stopping by!!

Cards! Cards! Cards!

Yesterday was a perfect day to sit in my craft room and create some ideas! This project evolved as I was putting together a little something for a hostess of mine as a thank you for hosting a party with me. I wanted to gift her one of our beautiful mini petite perks stamp sets, but also wanted to create some inspiration for her to see how versatile the stamp set is. I started by making up a little 3x3 card that featured the stamp for her thank you card (featured above) along with two others. I still had tons of scrap left over so I decided to keep on creating and I came up with 8 beautiful cards that all feature the Delicate Wings Petite Perk stamp set. All cards were made with Close to My Heart's beautiful Skylark paper!

I made up a kit that includes all the materials needed to create all 8 beautiful cards and gave it to my hostess! She was so happy to get a little incentive for hosting a party that included so many great ideas.

The kit includes:
- 8 card bases and 8 envelopes (3x3)
- Delicate Wings Petite Perks Stamp set
- 15 punched squares
- 1 window frame
- 9'' teal shimmer trim
- 5 background sheets
- additional trims, squares and punches

Here is a closer look at the Delicate Wings Stamp, this stamp set is a special incentive stamp and is not available to buy on the Close to My Heart Website. Interested in the kit?? There are a few ways you can get it!

First: Contact me about hosting an online gathering or a party this month! As a hostess you will be given this kit as a thank you for hosting a party! But that is just one of the benefits of being a hostess!! Let me tell you all about it, contact me today!

Second: Place a $75 order on my website during the month of June and I will send you this kit for free as a thank you!

Third: You may also purchase the kit directly from me for $10 + S&H (or local pick-up)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies of the world, Especially to my mom! I am off to run a 5k race with my mom to celebrate her day... I know, that doesn't sound like a relaxing day but it's a special run called The Chocolate Race - and who doesn't love chocolate! I am pretty excited!

In anticipation of Mother's Day, I was thinking back to the cards and crafts I made for my mom as a kid and was really excited about making her another one - a better one - because what mom doesn't love homemade gifts from their children... even if that child is 27! This card is really quite simple and was made with a bunch of scraps I had left over from the Close to My Heart Skylark Workshop on the Go Kit. I really love the use of teal colours that come in this kit.

Let me know what you think in the comments below, I would love to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of your (hopefully) beautiful day!!
