Why Rosie's Book?

While growing up, I had a dear friend, Renee, that lived next door and with whom I spent much of my childhood. We grew, in different directions, and went on our merry way. Many years later, I ran into her parents and they kindly reminded me of the laughs they still have over my book. “What book?” I wondered with a puzzled look. "I don't remember a book." Hardy laughter accompanied their response. At some time during our childhood, I tried to convince Renee about something that her parents didn’t agree with. I told her that proof of its truth could be found “in my book.” Naturally she went home and tried to convince her parents of the same thing but they weren’t falling for it. She needed an edge and told them emphatically, “It’s in Rosie’s book!” After they caught their breaths from reborn laughter, they let me know how “Rosie’s book” has been cited for many other things throughout the years. They’ve also mentioned that they’d like to see “Rosie’s book” one day. I can’t remember all of the things that I said were in “my book” but I’m sure my dear friend’s parents can recall much more than I ever knew about – LOL!!! So, here it is . . . my version of things you might find In Rosie’s Book . . .

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Vintage Valentine

The Digi Bells design team over at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog wants to see your Vintage Valentine projects.  A very lucky randomly selected entry will win TWO Elisabeth Bell digi images of their choice AND a $20 gift card from Sweet Pea Stamps!  You can find out more about this challenge and sponsors here.

I've used this fantastic rubberstamp image called Be My Valentine designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.  You can find this lovely young boy holding his handmade heart at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here.  Does he have a pretty little school-mate in mind that he'd like to be his valentine?  Will he give it to his mother to express his love for her?

This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  I used my handy Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up a Stampin' Up! Be Mine! stamp from their older Have a Heart Set to fit perfectly inside of this little guy's heart.

My Martha Stewart's Punch Around the Page eyelet lace edge and corner set decorated my card front with a delicate edge.  A very old Fiskars hand held heart punch provided mini hearts to place around my lacey edge.  A Sizzlits vintage photo corner adorns one corner of my card front.  Layers of Bo Bunny's Timepiece Collection keys patterned paper support my vintage theme.  A bit of Offray brown gingham ribbon provides a border and bow where a Janlynn Corp Steampunk Medium Key Charm hangs from a Making Memories jump ring.  A few handmade accent daisies made from Punch Bunch punches form a bouquet on top of my bow.

Here's a view of the front of my completed card showing my use of Sweet Pea Stamps' Be My Valentine, as designed by Elisabeth Bell, with a vintage theme . . .

The base of my card, decorated to match the front, includes a handmade chrysanthemum with several oak leaves to hold my card front in place for display . . .

This pic shows how my twisted easel card looks when completely open and ready for display . . .

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Non-Christmas Image on a Christmas Card

The Digi Bells design team over at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog wants to see your use of a non-Christmas Image on your Christmas projects.  A very lucky randomly selected entry will win TWO Elisabeth Bell digi images of their choice AND £10 for your choice of EB stamps from Crafts and Me Stamps!  You can find out more about this challenge and sponsors here.

The lovely Teresa at Crafts and Me Stamps in the UK sells EB images from several rubber- and clear-stamp companies.  You'll find EB images from Whiff of Joy, Sweet Pea Stamps, and Belles 'n Whistles!

I've used this sweet A Warm Fuzzy Hug rubberstamped image designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.  You can find her at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here.  She's also available at Crafts and Me Stamps here.  I've used Spellbinders Classic Ovals, large and small, for the Beyond-the-Edge technique to allow her braided hair to flow over the edge.  This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.  Note how I've used the Nasty Rag Technique on the bear for fun, furry texture.

I've layered punched shapes from Punch Bunch punches to form my handmade chrysanthemums that surround the Stampin' Up! Sincere Salutations sentiment.  The flowers are lightly painted with Diamond Stickles for amazing shimmer.  A couple of Cheery Lynn Designs die cut Mini Fanciful Flourishes provide some classy, leafy swirls.

Layers of Bo Bunny's Snowfall Collection's Snowfall Stripe, Snowfall Blizzard and Snowfall Wintertime, with Bazzill's Typhoon, Tropical and Nautical blues form my card.  An EK Success Snowflake border punch provides snowflakes throughout the center strip as well as the corner snowflakes with a Memory Box self-adhesive pearl at each snowflake center.

Here's a view of the front of my completed side open card showing my use of Sweet Pea Stamps' A Warm Fuzzy Hug, as designed by Elisabeth Bell, a non-Christmas image, on a Christmas card . . .

I've used this sweet Kiki with Dolly rubberstamped image designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.  You can find her at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here.  This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered chevron and circle patterned paper from a We R Memory Keepers "Red, White and Blue" stack pack with coordinating cardstock.  A bit of small white ric rac is folded over a removable tag die cut from a Lifestyle Crafts "TAG It" kit.  A bit of faux stitching and white mini brads adds a simple bordered look.  A computer generated sentiment  lies near my image.

A few glittered strawberries and punched blossoms left over from a previous project draw the strawberries from Kiki's top and hair onto my card front.  Zva self adhesive crystal swirls add sparkle.

Card Art with Copics: Elisabeth Bell's Standing Pretty

This adorable little girl designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps is named Standing Pretty.  You can find her at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here

Here's my Copic-filled version:

She's dressed in pretty Spring colors to coordinate with my Creative Imaginations patterned paper and several layers of cardstock.

It is so satisfying to me to have my handmade flowers coordinate with my project.  Here I've used my card scraps to punch shapes for three different sized daisies . . .

A Spellbinders scalloped rectangle shapes my rubberstamped image as well as my Endless Creations' Birthday Love Peace sentiment inside.  This photo shows the inside of my side-open card . . .

A couple of My Minds Eye Union Square "Favorite" pearl brads adorn each side of my image, while an Endless Creations greeting marks one corner with a Satin Sensations 5/8" Citrus ribbon bow.  Here's the completed card front showing my version of Sweet Pea Stamps' Standing Pretty image by Elisabeth Bell:

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Spring Is In the Air

The Digi Bells design team over at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog wants to see your Spring projects with lots of flowers and Springtime colors.  A very lucky randomly selected entry will win TWO Elisabeth Bell digi images of their choice AND TWO clear stamps, designed by Elisabeth Bell, from Elphine House Australia.  You can find out more about this challenge and sponsors here.  I'm happy to participate in this challenge as a Guest Designer.

I've created a bright and cheerful card using this wonderful Little Curls rubberstamped image designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.  You can find her at the Sweet Pea Stamps online store here.  Teresa at Crafts and Me Stamps in the UK carries a wonderful selection of Sweet Pea Stamps so if you're in the UK, you can also find this sweet image here.  This pic shows a closer view of my Copic-filled image.

I've layered Wild Rose Studio Spring Fling patterned papers with bright, coordinating smooth cardstock. A Martha Stewart Lace Heart punched edge borders the middle of the card near the wrapped Offray 1/8" pink ribbon and Wrights 1/4" lace.  My Little Curls image is shaped using Letterpress Large Circles over Letterpress Large Scalloped Circles.  The sentiment lying near my image is from an older Stampin' Up! And Everything Nice set.  Handmade flowers surround the lower right portion of my image's shape.

A variety of handmade flowers also borders an Inky Antics stamped sentiment on the inside of my card.  Here's a closer view of my handmade flowers.  They're all made of shapes punched from my card's scraps with Star Dust Stickles painted over them.

This photo shows the inside of my card . . .

Here's a view of my completed Springtime easel card where I've used Sweet Pea Stamps' Little Curls rubberstamped image as designed by Elisabeth Bell . . .

Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge: Shabby Chic/Distressing (with A Warm Fuzzy Hug)

The Digi Bells design team over at the Elisabeth Bell's World Challenge Blog wants to see your Shabby Chic/Distressing using lots of whites.  A randomly selected entry will win TWO Elisabeth Bell digi images of their choice AND KaiserCraft paper blooms from Little Darlings Rubberstamps.  You can find out more about this challenge and sponsors here.  I'm happy to participate in this challenge as a Guest Designer.

I've created a vintage-looking card using this beautiful A Warm Fuzzy Hug rubberstamped image designed by Elisabeth Bell for Sweet Pea Stamps.

I cut layers of Bazzill cardstock and a dictionary paper and began distressing it.  Just a swipe through my Zutter Distrezz-it-All and the edges were ready for inking.  I tore shreds through the inside area of one sheet then rolled the shreds to create a frame for my image.  I used the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to hold my rolled frame in place.  I crumbled the paper then laid it flat again to ink the creases.  Now it looks pretty distressed to me: torn, worn, tattered, stained and wrinkled.  Bits of lace act as patches behind the tears in the edges.

A strip of beige seam binding borders the left side of my image.  Handmade vintage roses adorn the base of my card front while a few aged butterflies, with pearly bodies, flutter around.  These roses are made using All Night Media medium and small blossom punches:  four of each size per rose.  The layers are held together with a brad in the center.  A few mists of water, some arranging of the damp petals before drying with a heat gun and they're ready.  I've adhered the roses to a Martha Stewart punched rose leaf.  The Cats Pajamas "Hey Friend" stamped sentiment fits snugly on the front, holding a mini paper clip with a dangling vintage trinket.

The friendship sentiment on the inside of the card is from Art Gone Wild!  Look closely at the Tim Holtz film strip ribbon and you'll see eight different miniature Elisabeth Bell digi images that I reduced to fit into the film strip.

Here's a closer view of that film strip . . .

This photo shows my completed shabby chic/distressed easel card where I've used Sweet Pea Stamps' A Warm Fuzzy Hug rubberstamped image as designed by Elisabeth Bell . . .

Card Art with Copics: Sweet Pea Stamps Be My Valentine by Elisabeth Bell

This sweet little guy is happy to share his handmade heart with someone he cares for.  Sweet Pea Stamps recently released this rubberstamped image, named Be My Valentine, designed by Elisabeth Bell.  You can find him at the Sweet Pea Stamps' online store here.

I've layered some older My Mind's Eye Abby Road Stomp "Brothers" Caveman Stripes double sided paper with Bazill green, seafoam and burnt orange cardstock.  The sentiment stamped into the heart is from the Crafty Secrets Home Sweet Home set.

Here's a view of my Copic-filled image . . .

An EK Success Paper Shapers Photo Corner Scallop punch finishes two corners.  A cluster of Hero Arts Card Buttons in Summer, tied with twine, adorn one corner while a green seam binding bow embellishes the other corner.

This photo shows my completed card front where I've used Sweet Pea Stamps' Be My Valentine image, designed by Elisabeth Bell . . .

This little guy makes a wonderful Valentine card but why not use him for friendship, birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day and other occasions.  The heart is left blank and other words or images can fit inside.

Card Art with Copics: Sweet Pea Stamps' Always

I've made some time to play with this fabulous mermaid, designed by Ching-Chou Kuik for Sweet Pea Stamps, named Always.

Here's a closer view of the lovely mermaid, with her long and overflowing hair, as she rests on a slice of moon that's she has lovingly decorated with hanging hearts.

Ching-Chou Kuik's Always rubberstamp image comes on a sheet with sentiments, phrases and quotes.  I've included this quote by Roy Croft . . .

I do enjoy making my own punched flower clusters to include on my projects.

I've layered some of Basic Grey's Sweet Threads Spring Tote patterned paper with some Bazzill cardstock to form my card.  A Letterpress nesting circle die cut frames my image.  Bits of Say It In Crystals rhinestone swirls are my only other embellishment.

A bit of Bo Bunny's Gabrielle Collection in spots and stripes layers my Bazzill cardstock.  A Cheery Lynn Designs Heartland America Large doily die provides a loving touch while a Fiskars Treading Water punch adds a soft border.  The lovely sentiment is from Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Collection Stuff to Say.
