I had the honor of spending a very sunny Saturday morning with nine super talented women, many with extensive experience in painting on multiple surfaces using transfers. Brenda kindly invited us into her warm New Jersey home to share her joy of Zentangle.
I'm happy to share this photo taken of some of their first Zentangle tiles . . .
Beautiful work . . .

Sizzix Big Shot Pro Match Box
I had some fun playing with the Sizzix Big Shot Pro Match Box die cut.
I used KI Memories Posh foliage double-sided patterned paper for both the surrounding section of the box and the sliding insert piece. There are four sides and the full top of the box to decorate.
Here I placed Circus Tilda from the Magnolia Stamps 2010 Cozy Autumn Collection inside a QuicKutz oval die cut. I also used a Magnolia Doohickeys tag die to give you an indication of the size of the box top.
This finished Sizzix Big Shot Pro Match Box is 3 5/8" x 5 1/4" x 1 1/8". The insert slides out easily making it a nice container for including small gift items.
(Ooo . . . this is the first time I've filled this Circus Tilda image. Next time, I've got to remember to give her something to sit on instead of having her float in mid air - LOL!!!)
Copics used:
skin - E000, E00, YR00, R20
hair - Y13, Y26, Y28
dress/headcover - BG13, BG15, BG18
eyelet - E31, E35, E47
outline shadow - C3, C1
shoes - T0, T6, T9

Copic Creations Challenge: Warm Colors
The current Copic Creations Challenge involves using Copic's "warm" colors. Bugaboo Stamps is sponsoring this challenge and offering 7 Bugaboo Stamps' images as the prize to the random winner of this challenge. Find out more about this challenge and sponsor here.
Warm colors are usually yellows, oranges, browns, yellowish-greens and orangish-reds. A warm pink is a peachy pink (as compared to a purplish-pink). A warm green is a yellowish-green (as compared to a bluish-green).
I've filled my Beach Tilda from Magnolia Stamps 2009 Lazy Summer Days collection with warm orange and yellowish-green tones.
My Longing Tilda image from the Magnolia 2010 Fairy Tale collection is filled with warm tones of yellow:
The "warm" tones of Best Creation's Surf's Up double-sided glitter paper with light and dark orange Bazzill card stock make a nice background for another Side-Step card (see my Side-Step card in cool tones here).
I used white cardstock to punch a few flowers and leaves using punch bunch small blossom, blossom corner and small birch. I filled the punched shapes using coordinating Copic "warm" colors then coated them with Diamond Stickles. A QuicKutz Accent die cut adds some swirly flair to these flower clusters.
Here's a side view of this Side-Step card showing my use of Copic's "warm" colors . . .

Just Magnolia Challenge - Lady Tilda
While following my daily blog-checking routine, I came across a sketch challenge at this Just Magnolia and hAnglar & sTanglar Challenge Blog (find it here). I haven't participated in a sketch challenge like this before but found myself drawn to the blooming prize of their sponsor, Wild Orchid Crafts. I've got to try to get those amazing little flowers - LOL!!!
I jumped right into the Scrappers Cove March card kit, and started cutting. Uh oh. I forgot to take a pic of supplies first. I vaguely remember seeing Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante Tags and Modern Marvels double-sided patterned paper, Bazzill dark brown and dark orange card stock, a ribbon slide, chipboard buttons, and a two-toned ribbon.
I inked up my Lady Tilda stamp from the Magnolia 2010 Fairy Tale Collection and filled this little treasure using Copic markers.
A cluster of small Petaloo Dazzlers in yellow, orange and green help my Lady Tilda shine . . .
Mina's sketch, posted in the Challenge Blog, involves neat layering and I enjoyed using it to put this card together in a jiffy. This photo shows my completed card that I'm submitting for this Just Magnolia and hAnglar & sTanglar Challenge and the Scrappers Cove March card contest.
Copics used:
skin - E000, E00, YR00, R20
hair - E31, E35, E47
rose - R22, R29, R59
leaves - G82, G85, G99
dress/headband/gloves - Y13, Y26, Y28
grounding/outline shadows - W5, W3, W1

Zentangle Tiles from Intermediate Class
Six wonderful individuals gathered, each bringing their own style, background and life's perspective.
Then, they created these similar yet very unique works of art . . .
Same products. Same instruction. Same guidance. Different outcome. Cool, huh?

Card Art with Copics: Magnolia Princess and the Frog
I love this image of the Princess and the Frog from the Magnolia 2010 Fairy Tale Collection. This single image stirs up so much emotion and there's a gazillion thoughts that can be added to compliment this image.
I used Bazzill Seawater cardstock to create the card then added Best Creations Sweet Love double-sided patterned paper. The "from the heart" printed ribbon is from Creative Impressions. A few Spellbinders Scalloped Hearts and Prima Crystals/Pearls finish the inside base. I used a computer-generated, handmade ticket sentiment and added a simple heart charm.
I think the bull's eye effect from the layers of paper really helps to draw a viewer's eyes to the image in the card's center.
This pic shows the completed easel-styled card . . .
Copics Used:
Skin - E000, E00, YR00, R20

Frog - G21, G24, G28
Crown - Y28, YR21
Wings - B21, 0, atyou Spica Clear
Head Band - RV09, RV04, G28, G21
Outline Shadow - N1
Airbrushed with B21, G21 (torn paper mask)

Copic Creations Challenge: Cool Colors
Copic Creations is challenging Copic lovers to use their "cool" colors. Lili of the Valley is sponsoring this challenge and offering a random winner a generous gift certificate for use at their online store. Find out more about this challenge and their sponsor here.
Cool colors generally consist of blues, greens, pinks and purples. Blue-greens, magentas, and blue-based reds are included too. A cool pink is a purplish pink (as compared to a peachy pink). A cool green is more bluish (as compared to a green that is more yellowish).
I preferred filling Chasing Edwin from the 2009 Magnolia Stamps Chasing Butterflies Collection using cool blue-greens for his shorts and kept the rest of this image very neutral, using beige colors.
Longing Tilda from the 2010 Magnolia Stamps Fairy Tale Collection has very little clothing but I was able to use cool pinks for her dress and hair bow.
The "cool" colors of the KI Memories Posh line of patterned papers (vineyard, fashion, prestige, and foliage) over pink Bazzill cardstock made for a fun Side-Step card.
A few Martha Stewart butterfly punches, filled with some of Copic's "cool" colors, then coated with Diamond Stickles, made for delicate and very simple embellishments.
With this sentiment from Stampin' Up!'s Friendship Blooms (2008 Sale-a-Bration set), this pretty little card is ready for a "cool" display. Here's a front view of this "cool" Side-Step card . . .
