Love is in the Air

Woo Hoo! Wait until you see these cuties that Kris has designed for Valentines Day. To see the entire release check out the post at the Imagine That! Creative Playground this morning. I used several of these new sets to create my little heart box.

Isn't this adorable! The template for the box came from marthastewart.com. I'm not sure if it's still available there or not. I used the Beary in Love Digital Paper Pack to create the heart itself and then decorated the heart with the Love Bears stamp set. You can get these as a kit and save some money. I colored my image with Spectrum Noir markers. I die cut the sentiment from Spellbinder's Fancy Tags and inked it with Barn Door distress inks. Here is some other shots of the box.

It's a very slim little box. Perfect for those conversation hearts! Here's a peak at the new sets that I used.

Say It Ain't Snow

Happy Sunday! We had a few snow flurries today but nothing has accumulated. Our winter has been very unusual as we haven't had hardly any snow. My card today may be wishful thinking.

My card using Picking a Christmas Tree from QKR Stampede. The image is colored with Spectrum Noir markers and die cut with MFT Stitched Circles. I used the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday as inspiration.

The background began as a piece of blue card stock and I added Faded Jeans and Broken China distress ink to darken the background and make it look like night. I then added the star stickers to continue the night sky theme. The card stock base is a dark green and I backed the image with that same dark green.  I added a few layers of black card stock. I used the snowflake embossing folder to emboss the middle section of the sketch. The sentiment "buttons" are from Scribbles Designs. I used a Spectrum Noir clear glitter pen on the snowman. He really sparkles. I am entering these challenges:

Love Ya Lots

I have to get busy and make some Valentines really soon or I won't have enough to send out to my list. So thinking along those lines I have a Valentine for you today.

The adorable little hedge hogs are from Gerda Steiner called Hedgehog Smooches. This is the stamp of the month for the progressive challenge. I wish I had colored them a bit differently. When I colored them I wasn't sure exactly what I was going to do with them. I used the Tuesday Morning sketch for inspiration.

The sentiment is from a retired Gina K set called Heartily Yours Additions and stamped with Simon Says Lipstick Red ink.. The image is colored with Copic and Bic markers and die cut with Gina Marie Designs Cross Stitch Rectangles. I used gray pieces of scrap as backing and gray and white Doodle Twine. To embellish I took a red Bic pen to place dots around the gray card stock, in the corners of the die cut and in some of the white hearts on the background designer paper.

Happy Birthday

A couple days ago I posted a card for Scribbles Designs 4th birthday party.

I have another card today using Scribbles Designs images with a Happy Birthday theme.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Scribbles Designs as are the present packages. They are both Friday freebies and can be downloaded free. In fact Sandy has over 200 freebies on her site. It's amazing! I die cut the sentiment with Spellbinder's Lattice Rectangles and inked the edges with Faded Jeans distress ink. I made some doodles around the inside of the frame. For the background I used the Neat & Tangled Star stencil on the light blue background and inked with Mustard Seed distress ink. The sentiment and gifts are colored with Copic and Bic markers.

Rudolph Days

It's time once again for Rudolph Days, a fun challenge from Scrappy Mo. Sadly this is my last month as a guest designer for Maureen but I highly recommend being one of her guest designers. It's such a fun challenge and you get some Christmas cards done ahead of time. Here's my card this month.

I used a Bugaboo image called Ava Christmas - Mistletoe Fairy. She's colored with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers. The image and the sentiment are die cut with Spellbinder's Classic Rectangle die. The sentiment is from a retired Gina K set called Very Merry Christmas. The background is embossed with the Paper Studio Poinsettia embossing folder and I added gold stickels to the centers to accent the flowers.My base is green card stock. For embellishments I used the Memory Box Holly Leaf Border (sent from Scrappy Mo. Thanks so much!) and red pearls for berries.

The Road Ahead

Recently my son and dear DIL moved from Pensacola, FL to Boston. MA. The moving truck arrived yesterday and I imagine they are trying to settle into their new home and acclimate their two cats to their very different surroundings. I wanted to send them a card to welcome them to not just their new home but the next chapter in their lives. I'm sure living in Boston will be much different than Pensacola. Especially when moving in the middle of January. So here's what I came up with.

Here's how I made the card. For the background I used the Neat & Tangled Star Stencil and tried to use the ombre affect by using Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio distress ink. I colored the image from Tickell Expressions with Copics and Spectrum Noir pens. The sentiment is from Bits of Paper blog. All of Jamie's word art is free and you can find it here. I die cut it from a Quikcutz tag die.The card base is dark blue card stock and I used the same card stock to back the elements on the front of the card. For the sentiment I used the hearts from the Simon Says Stamp set called I Only Have Eyes for You (retired). It's difficult to see but their is a stitched heart outline over the word heart. I used a ribbon and knot for some embellishment. Since one of my resolutions this year is t finish the inside of cards when I make them, here is the inside of this card also.

My title for my post makes more sense when you see the inside of the card. The sentiment is computer-generated. I added the sign post from Gina K Happy Camper (retired) colored with Bic and Spectrum Noir pens. I added an arrow die cut from a Momenta Arrow die and a heart from Spellbinder's Classic Hearts dies. This is a new beginning, a new road ahead, for them. I wanted to wish them safe travels as they navigate their new life in a new city. There is one very good thing for them. My other son lives in Boston so he will be able to help get them acquainted with everything. And the plus for us is that we only have to go one place to see both our boys now. (But no more trips to Florida, bummer! Well at least not to see Steve and Anne.)

For Goodness Cake

Yesterday was a very long day for me. I had medical tests this morning at the hospital and had to be ready and be there by 6am. And the prep for the tests had me up all night. So in between bathroom visits I made a few cards to keep my mind from wandering off too far. Here's one of the cards that I made.

The cake image is from Scribbles Designs. Sandy is celebrating the 4th birthday of the Scribbles Designs shop. And she's celebrating in a big way, with lots of prizes.

You can find all the details here at the Scribbles Designs challenge blog. The cake image I used is a freebie at the challenge blog link. I colored it with Copic markers and then added Cotton Candy Stickles to the icing and Rock Candy Stickles to the candles. I looks really yummy yo me since I've starved myself for the last two days. I used the sketch from the Stella sketch at Catch the Bug.

The papers are scraps from my scrap bin. The sentiment is one of my favorites from Create with TLC die cut with Quik Kutz Tag dies and inked with Spun Sugar distress ink. This one looks like it will go to one of or little nieces. They like the glitz and glitter.

Progressive Challenge at The Outlawz

I can't believe we are coming to the end of January already. Time is just zipping by for me. I have several progressive challenges that I usually play with so I need to get those cards moving. This is the card for The Outlawz Progressive challenge. The image this month is from All Dressed Up. I turned my card into a Valentine for a crafty friend.

The front of the card is pretty CAS. I colored the image with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers and die cut the image with MFT Cross Stitch Ovals. The background is red card stock and I used the Hero Arts Asian Flower Stencil to give it a pattern. I used Picked Raspberry distress ink with the stencil.  I used my MISTI to add my sentiment from a new set of Hero Arts Everyday Sayings sentiments that I bought at Michael's this week. Before popping up the image I added the two pieces of ribbon for some contrast. And I finished the inside of the card to match.

The larger sentiment is computer-generated. The Happy Valentine's Day is from Simon Says Stamps I Only Have Eyes for You (retired). I also added a Cheery Lynn Butterfly die and colored it to match the butterfly on the progressive image. The little hearts are from Paper Smooched Paw Print dies.

The Finale of Under the Sea

Today is the last day of Bugaboo Under the Sea challenge. I thought about this one all week because I hate tying bows. Haha! So I used bows cut from dies instead. Here's the challenge:

And my card with 2 bows, 3 layers (I never know if that should count card base or not. In my case I didn't count the card base.) and 4 pearls:

The Bugaboo image is Turtles - birthday. I colored with Copics and Distress markers and die cut with Spellbinder's ATC Card dies. The bows are Gina Marie Designs Bow and Ribbon. The base card stock is kraft. The background paper s Basic Grey Marjolaine. The embellishments include Wink of Stella on the balloons and Diamond Stickles on the balloons and turtle and the 4 pearls specified in the challenge. I colored the pearls with the same Copic marker that I colored the lighter balloon (YG06).

Alligator Birthday Balloon

Happy Thursday!I am off and running today. I literally have a mass of things to do so I need to move fast today. LOL! And I thought retirement would be slow and easy. What was I thinking? Another Bugaboo card for the Under the Sea challenge today. One more to go. Day 6 is all about the kids.

And here's my card:

I used Bugaboo's Alligator Balloon to put a smile on a special child's face. And I hadn't used plaid (from my scrap box) in a while and I was missing it. LOL!I colored the image with Copics and die cut it with Spellbinder's Lattice Rectangles. The balloon has Wink of Stella added. I inked the edges with Picked Raspberry distress ink. My sentiment and banner is from Simon Says Stamps Banner Sayings (retired) and Folded Banner die.The banner was die cut from scraps. The image is popped up with fun foam. I used the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches for inspiration.

Two More for Under the Sea

I've been eking out some time here and there to do a few more cards for the Catch the Bug Under the Sea challenge. In January I don;t have any family birthdays so I really try to ramp up my birthday cards because in February I have a ton of birthdays. So this challenge is especially of interest since it is birthday themed. Have you ever made a card that you just instantly loved. That's my card for Day 4 and the Bingo challenge.

I used the diagonal line starting at the top left corner (birthday theme, Bugaboo image, and no designer paper). I stenciled my background using MFT One Way Chevron stencil. It was the closest I had to making waves. I tried to make it an ombre effect with different colors of blue distress ink. Starting from the bottom: faded jeans, broken china, mermaid lagoon and salty ocean. The image is $1 dolphin image from Bugaboo. I printed and colored him twice and then fussy cut him out. Sometimes I don;t color things the way I like but these guys turned out really nice. The sentiment was originally from Birdie Brown who closed her shop several years ago. Her sentiment just said day at the bottom and I changed it to birthday. I die cut the sentiment with MFT Stitched Circles and then inked the circle with more distress ink. This one is my favorite so far for the challenges. I'm really thrilled with how it turned out.

I am out of belated birthday cards (because I forget too often!) so I decided to make a belated birthday and make a punny card. I love punny sentiments. 

I used Bugaboo's frog image and colored him with Copics. Pretty easy peasy. Then I used MFT Cloud Day Stencil to create the sky. I masked off the bottom section to create the pond. I used Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon as the distress inks. The sentiment is from a retired Stampin' Up! set called Unfrogettable. Very CAS card.

Several Quick and Easy Cards

Happy Tuesday! I had a little time and decided to make a couple quick cards that I could use.

This sentiment and image was all in one and the note I made was "anonymous'. I couldn't find anything like it on the web so I'm not sure where it came from. I simply printed it out and colored it with Copics. To add some pizzazz I used Wink of Stella on the stars. Quick and easy and I'll give this to my hubby for Valentine"s Day.

The heart frame is from My Scrap Chick. It was a freebie once upon a time. The sentiment inside is from Decosse's Dynamite Doodles.  I used a Copic BG11 to outline the heart frame both inside and out. To embellish it a bit I added gold glitter glue to the corner hearts. Quick and easy!

Under the Sea Color Challenge

I usually avoid color challenges. Usually I don't have the right color or they often specify what company to use. Sometimes they just have this whole list of colors that's just daunting to me and at first I thought about not doing this challenge because of the number of colors involved. But it actually wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be and I guess that's what "challenge" means, right?

So here's what I came up with. I don't think my photo editor came out with the colors quite right but here it is.

This is a Bugaboo image but it must be a retired image because I wasn't able to find it on the site. I have it marked as CCCAlligator in my files. I colored him with Copics and die cut him with MFT Stitched Ovals. I inked the edge with Cracked Pistachio distress ink. The sentiment is from a Gina K set called Birthday Greetings.  I die cut the flag from light green card stock from MFT Pierced Fishtail Flags. The sentiment is stamped with Memento Chocolate Chip ink using my MISTI. The background embossing folder is Cuttlebug Spots & Dots. I was hoping it looked like bubbles. I used the Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch.

Under the Sea Birthday Fun

This week Bugaboo Stamps is celebrating their birthday and their have challenges all week and some very fun prizes! So Tom took my shift with the twins this afternoon to give me some crafty time. So I got two cards done this after noon. At Catch the Bug blog Day 1 was a photo challenge:

So here's the card that I came up with:

I used the Birthday Fishes image and Candle Cake image. I used Copics to color the images and then hand cut the fish image around the frame. I used that to trace around the cake so that the two images would be the same size. The card base is 4x4 inches. The background paper is from Trimgym digital papers. The two little extra fish are popped up and are from Doodle Pantry Finny Fish 2. Unfortunately Doodle Pantry has closed.

I rotated a couple elements in this sketch but all the essentials are there.

I used Penguin 2 image from Bugaboo.  I die cut the image, colored with Copic and Bic markers, with Spellbinder's Teardrop Circles. I used Mermaid Lagoon distress ink to add color to the die cut. The snowflake paper was still on my desk from an earlier project this week so I decided to use up some scraps. The sentiment is from Create with TLC and die cut with an MFT Pierced Fishtail Banner die. I also added Mermaid Lagoon distress ink to the sentiment banner. The card base is black card stock. To finish off I added three small snowflake die cuts from Paper Smooches.

Snow Fun

Happy Saturday evening! We dodged a winter storm last night that could have been a real problem. It looks like it went north of us. So sorry for those who got the ice but I do have to admit I didn't mind that it missed us. I had time to make one card today. I am definitely missing being in my craft area.

Selfie Sandy - New Release

Good evening everyone! This is my second post today as we unveil the new sets for January over at The Imagine That! Creative Playground. The second set that I'm working with today is called Selfie Sandy.

This new set has some wonderful background papers included with the stamps and sentiment. I used one of those papers as the designer paper for my card. The image is die cut with MFT Stitched Ovals and backed with Spellbinder's Lacey Ovals. The sentiment is also from the set and just so cute!I inked the sentiment with Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Broken China distress inks to give it a variegated look. The bas is white card stock and the layered with kraft card stock.

Snappy Sandy - New Release

Welcome to a new release from Imagine That! Digis by Kris. I'm not particularly a Steampunk kind of person but if you are there were new Steampunk releases yesterday for two really awesome sets. But today I am showcasing two very fun sets. I'll have another post about 8 pm this evening for the second set. But first up is a set called Snappy Sandy.

The camera, filmstrip and sentiment are from this new stamp set. I die cut the image and sentiment with Gina Marie Cross Stitched Rectangles. I actually die cut it twice to remove some of the excess white space so it looks more like a square on the card. The background heart paper is a retired paper from Imagine That! Digis by Kris. I used the filmstrip to kind of partition the card and add some interest. I also added Glossy Accents to the camera lens and heart as an embellishment.
The inside uses another sentiment from the set. It reads: A special birthday for an amazing person. (One of my resolutions this year is to finish the inside of cards. I used to finish as I needed them but then I was always behind so I'm trying to make sure the insides are also ready to go.)

Today I have a very simple card that I made with some scraps that I had laying on my desk and some new things that I haven't used before.

The image is from Torytale.com that was a freebie over at The Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge. I started by using a Hero Arts Asian Flower Patterned stencil and used Rusty Hinge distress ink to make the background. I colored the image with Copics and fussy cut the Sweet Wishes image.
