Retirement Project in Progress

Have been working on digitizing old pictures, slides and videos. It has been very much fun but time consuming. Came across some clips that I have posted on Facebook and thought I would put them on the blog for those that don’t participate.

Legacy to Remember !!

CIMG8349

On January 4th we said good bye to Grandpa George Conover. Almost 94 years old, married almost 72years and they lived at home basically independent for the entire time. Certainly something to Celebrate!

CIMG8352

The only sad part was he fell in his home from what we believe was the result of a broken top of his femur. In the fall he fractured his shoulder in three places. Two surgeries in the same day. The first successful from a local to repair the hip. Later he went back in to be put totally under to pin the shoulder. The plan was to secure it because it would be needed in the rehab to get better from the hip injury. While in the recovery, he had a heart attack and he flat lined. CPR started the heart again but resulted in broken ribs.

CIMG8351

Three days in ICU and no real progress, the family decided to put him in a private room and provide comfort which were his wishes.

He was relieved from all pain the next morning after Paul gave him a blessing and released him.

CIMG8354

We had such great support from many. Some came from as far as Nevada, Arizona, Arkansas, Ohio and New York.

CIMG8357

The Natural Man in us all leaves us very Sad. We are so grateful for the support of many Loved ones.

CIMG8358

The Military honors were very special!

CIMG8360

We know that Grandpa was very proud of his family and was celebrating along with us.

CIMG8361

Grandsons who Loved and Learned from Grandpa Honor him!

CIMG8364

Thanks Kids for such much support during and after!!!

CIMG8368

Grandma has spent so many years depending on Grandpa and now is not there to meet her needs. We have been blessed to have her stay at our home since the surgery. Going home is not an option with her special needs. Retirement from the day to day operations of the store since the first of the year has allowed us to show her how much we love her each day.

CIMG8367

Caden helping his dad picking up after a very special day! Thanks Bud! …..”and men are that they may have Joy”! This is it….FAMILY!

Thanksgiving/Christmas in Arkansas

CIMG0716

We have not been with Audrey and Brady for Thanksgiving since they left Utah over 10 years ago. Decided it was about time but struggled leaving the mass behind. We picked up unwanted baby items from Audrey and brought them home for Jessica. (Thus the drive out) which we actually enjoy very much. Audrey wondered if we would run out of things to talk about. …Not a chance!

CIMG0719

They decided that it would be a good idea to mix Thanksgiving and Christmas while there. We gave the kids a Trampoline and put it together. They each got some other items.

CIMG0721

Clothes for those VERY special dolls they collect.

CIMG0723

They always LOVE to have Grandma make something for them. Good thing she went to sewing school.

CIMG0726

CIMG0727

Tadaa… Hats. I told Kayla they were great Pioneer hats of which she is obsessed with at this time. I was informed…… they are Patriot hats grandpa. Da

CIMG0745

Next Project….We had a trip to the park and picked leaves on different sizes and colors and brought them home with Audreys guidance.

CIMG8320

Picking just the right size and color!!!!

CIMG8321

Even with a trip to Arkansas, I found that OUR traditions go on in other places. Had a great time and ended up with a sore shoulder. Notice Alyssa in the back of Brady’s truck. She went with here Daddy and made sure that we had the right gauge of shell as needed.

CIMG0729

A Cox tradition that was GREAT and we had never tried. Smoked Turkey. What a very special day.

CIMG0742

Brady took us to a University of Arkansas basketball game. They played Utah Valley University. Catherine asked me….who do we cheer for?  I told her to choose and then go it quietly. ha ha

CIMG0731

We went to the Ozark Lights and had a wonderful evening.

CIMG8328

Audrey got a new laptop from us as part of her Christmas. We had fun setting it up and then laughed because we were all on our own. Myself as well on the other couch.  Audrey was being tutored by Mom on Pintrest.67chev52677-1[1]

My shopping had me sneaking out for a quick trip up to Bentonville to look as something I had been watching and just happened to be close by. THANKS KIDS FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL TIME!!!!

Annual Sibling Trip (Hawaiian Cruise)

Each sibling has taken a turn at picking where the others will go on a trip. This year was Brent and Edie. 7 Day Cruise of the Hawaiian Islands. GREAT PICK GUYS! On the big Island we stopped at a Macadamia Nut Factory. 27000 acres of nuts. These pine trees were planted as wind breaks. Catherine has been eyeing them for several trips but never close enough to touch. They were as soft as she thought they would be. What a great way to be greeted to the Town of Kona on the big Island. Thanks Moroni

Volcano National Park on the other side of the Island at Hilo. We had to call Brady and get all the inside scoop. He had been there doing studies (at least that is what he tries to tell us)
What a fun tunnel
Can't post all the pictures. It wood take to long. How much fun was this place. Definitely a Do-Over
Waterfalls everywhere
Can't go to Hawaii and not go to the Banyan tree at Lahaina on the island of Maui (one of my favorite)
We were the tour guides on Maui. Jordan and Leisel helped us find this great State Park with really Black sand. Diane got hers confiscated when we got back on the ship.(Another great story to tell). Catherine was bound to get hers on the ship the next day. She made me carry the contraband. Though I was going to Jail for sure.
Criminals!!!
Another regular stop for us in the Rain forest on the Road to Hana. This time (3rd) I did not pass the test of driving on the famous road. Thanks to Brent and some scratch remover we were able to turn in the rental car will little to show. Others coming the other way pushed me into the hill. It was not my fault I promise.
Kuai has been voted the best of trip. Loved the zip line adventure. Don't you just love the hats. Took a mpeg of us going down but could not load it. Better since I really screwed up and sent my voice up several octaves with the harness setup.
Worst part for Catherine was somebody messing with the ropes while she was crossing.
Renewable resource...they say the bamboo grows something like 24' a year.
Not a trip without eating out back on the ship.
Pulling into Kuai for two fun days.
Lady Drivers!! She was waiting for us to get ready to leave port and help. She was doing 360's both directions and was great entertainment. She was giving us a great wave.
Last stop before a real adventure. Bathroom facilities and this is what Diane was saying......"Where are the paper towels???? Just drip dry and lets get going
The man that owned AOL owned 57000 acres on the big island. We had permission to enter for a real nice day and view.
Moving from the Van to our rig...reminded me of four wheeling
The traditional.....I take a picture of you taking a picture. How much fun......Behling thing!!!
Look how special.....We got to park in the garage when we got there!
It has been told that if you put a flower over your left ear....it means you are taken.
The view from where we had Lunch. We had wraps for lunch. We each had two. Diane told Steve she was full with one. Steve told her to buck up and eat all so as not to offend. Goes against her rules... I learned. She was a big girl and minded. There was a bet going
on between them and I think Steve was messin.
So much fun to travel with these guys!!!
Isn't she CUTE!!!!
Before we flew home Brent, Edie, Catherine and I took time to hit Pearl Harbor. I think Brent was trying to decide if the prop would fit his Boat.
For those who watch "Top Shot" on the History Channel.....This would be a great gun to try in the competition. Brent was seeing how to sight in
The Memorial is a tear jerker...everytime I go there
Brent showing me how he is sending a picture to Traci. Sharing the trip with the kids....even if they are not there.
We spend our time here on Earth living so that we can be together again as a Family after. What a great plan. I LOVE THIS GUY!!!
OK Everybody. Next year about October the vote was that we go back to Kuai and stay for the entire week. Steve wants to rent Harley's and cruise the Island. Everyone is invited that would like to go with us. If you don't have your motorcycle license......get it.......if not come anyway.
THE NEXT TRIP IS DIANE AND STEPHEN'S TURN AGAIN. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHERE THEY TAKE US!!!!!
