So today is my first official day of summer vacation. I have 84 days between now and when we go back to work in August. The weather couldn't be better. It's a bright, sunny day with temps in the low 70s. I'm getting out on my bike later on today!
So the big news over the past couple of months is that Matt and I are officially engaged. On April 3rd the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that same sex couples had the right to be married. Because the constitutional amendment process in Iowa is long, we decided to set our wedding date for July 17, 2010. Our commitment anniversary is July 12th and we wanted to get as close to that date as possible. In addition, this allows our family and friends who live around the country to make travel plans to be with us for the event.
I'll be blogging a lot more about the big event as the year goes on. I never realized how much planning goes into a simple wedding. I'm very glad we've got 12 months to get everything done.
