Happy Halloween

I made this card for myself. Why shouldn't I have a Halloween card?

I started with two Sassy Studio Designs--Masked Maurauder and Masked Warrior. They were colored w/Copics. Next I cut and folded the paper for a basic side step card. I cut the castle and the picket fence w/the Cricut then distressed both with an emery board and Tim Holtz distress ink. I also added some extra texture to the castle by crushing it up in my palm, inking more and spritzing with water. Both came from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I made the sentiment up and cut it with a Spellbinders die the that I won from Regan at Charmed Stamping on her birthday blog candy give away. Thanks R! I embossed it and added brads. I cut the moon from glitter paper with my Martha Stewart circle cutter. The web border was made with her web punch around the page. I couldn't resist added bling and Stickles.

Who's the fairest

Only one more day 'til Halloween! Today's card features another Sassy Studio Design--Mortisha and frame Mortisha. I reversed the framed image before I printed it out so that it would be the same as actually looking in the mirror. The image was colored w/Copics and highlights were added with a Gelly Roll pen. The "mirrored" image is covered with clear acetate paper to make it appear more reflective.

The paper is DCWV from a Halloween pack from a couple of years ago. The doily is from the Wilton baking accessories and the swirl bling is from Recollections from Michaels. The ribbon is from my stash. I love this card and surprised myself with the whole concept of creating it.

Wicked Honey

This is my first time attempting a "Diamond Fold" card. The tutorial can be found on Splitcoaststampers by clicking here. The image was colored w/Copics and cut out with a Spellbinders die. I then used the die to emboss and stencil using Close To My Heart inks. I hand-drew the web in the corner and highlighted the image with a Gelly Roll pen. The polka dot paper is from my stash while the pumpkin paper as well as all the the sentiments were cut from a Martha Stewart Halloween pack. The tiny spider was from Martha Stewart as well.

Halloween countdown

Today I'm starting my countdown to Halloween. For me, this has been a great month of cardmakring. This is my 20th post this month and I've made far more cards than I've posted!

Today's card was made with "Little Honey Witch Betty" and is freebie available at Paper Craft Planet for the next 24 hours. If you aren't already a  member, now is the time to join. Sassy Studio Designs offers a different freebie every Friday but they're only offered for 24 hours and then they are locked back in the SSD vault.

Using paper from my stash, I used my Martha Stewart small circle cutter to cut out the images that was of course colored w/Copics. This is a small easel card measuring only 4 1/4" wide. I think Martha Stewart has some of the best Halloween stickers and most of these are from her line. The only one that isn't is the "skull and crossbones" which are from Jolee. The sentiment (I made it up myself)  ribbon was cut using a Spellbinders die (gifted to me by the amazing Regan) to cut, emboss, and stencil. It's hard to believe I didn't use any bling on this card but I did use quite a bit of Stickles and glitter glue. There are Stickles/glitter glue on hat band, broomstick handle and straw. Doesn't Little Honey look like she's having fun?

I just realized I didn't post last week's card. Here it is!

This card was especially simple. The sexy redhead was colored w/Copics and features two different colors of glitter cardstock--the background mat and the "moon" Once again I used a Spellbinders die to cut, emboss and stencil yet another one of my original sentiments. I'm so proud of myself for using brads. I have quite a few that I never use!

For Both of You

When I was going through my battle with cancer I was totally focused on me. I don't have any children and wasn't married at the time, so I could afford to be selfish. Little did I know the affect it was having on my fiance. He'd lost both his mother and his grandmother to the disease. I don't apologize for my selfishness because when I was in the throws of my fight, it was all about me. I dedicate this card to all the men or significant others that dig in for the battle with us!

That's right...another KennyK image. It was colored w/Copics. The card was cut for my most favorite Cricut cartridge ever, the Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. The mats were resized and cut from the Cricut as well. I added faux stitching with my favorite Gelly Roll pen and, pastry doily and my own sentiment.

Outlawz and KennyK

Today card uses yet another KennyK image. I rarely use layouts but have joined a challenge on the Outlawz to make a card using the layout above and to use the colors "pumpkin harvest, black and white." In my world "pumpkin harvest" is orange! The image isn't Halloweenie (I made that up) but the colors and the sentiment say it all.

I colored the image w/Copics and a gel pen. Of course I'm going to enter it into the current KennyK challenge "Getting dotty." Both papers are in my stash and you all seen the black and white polka dots two other times this week. Yes, it is still on the table! This time I went with the orange pin dot and yesterday I finally broke down and bought the Martha Stewart "Web" punch around the page. I used Pop Dots to pop up both the black and white as well as the Spellbinders cut image. I embossed the cut as well and used the die as a stencil, inking around the die with Close To My Heart orange ink. The final touches are the black swirl bling (one of my favorites) and repurposed from a discarded project. I made up the sentiment...I'm talented that way. It has lots of attitude! My husband says the green eyes are mesmerizing!

Another Kenny K digi

I am having a ball with the new KennyK images my husband encouraged me to get. He loved yesterday's card and I'm hoping he'll like this one too.

I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone and make more shaped cards. The "postage stamp" was cut with the Cricut using the CloseTo My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge. The image was colored with Copics. I decided to go with the polka dot paper because 1) I didn't put it away from yesterday 2) I think it works great for a masculine card and 3) I can enter it into the KennyK polka dot challenge! The table was cut with Cricut from the Serenade cartridge. That cute little drink is a brad! Who'd a thunk! I bought two packs at the Dollar Store. The shiny red oval had to be cut by hand because the piece was small and I didn't want to ruin it. It was still on the table from two projects ago but left over from last Christmas. No...it has not been on my table that long! LOL. I stamped and heat embossed "First Class" from an Inkadinkado stamp set. I thought the sentiment worked perfectly with this card.

If you look back at the cards I've made I'd say I almost always have a sentiment on the front. If I can't find a sentiment I like in my stash, I'll make one up. It's why I decided to enter My Creative Times design team call. I love sentiments. It's part of my style. Most of my cards have bling, or swirl bling, Stickles and a sentiment. I find it hard to incorporate any of my favorites on a masculine card. For those I mostly try to use interesting textures. Using images of hot women usually works!

Make a wish

I can't believe how many cards and posts I've made this month. I'm really on a roll. Partly because it's Breast Cancer Awareness month and I was selected for the Sassy Studio Design Team, I'm just having a ball.

My husband was looking over my shoulder Saturday and just loved the KennyK images. At his request I purchased a few more images. This is the first card.

The image was colored w/Copics and gel pens. The papers are from my stash. I also used the Donna Salazer Sprightly Sprockets Spellbinders and Spellbinders Circles. I also use the Spellbinder circle to emboss the image and used it as a stencil to ink around with Close To My Heart ink. As always I used pop dots. This card measures 5 x 7 and while simple, I think most men would love it. My husband sure does!

Dynamic Duo

Have you joined in on  Sassy Studio Designs' Sassy Steampunk Progressive Relay! As a way to celebrate achieving 500 plus members in our Paper Craft Planet group we decided to throw another party. Pop on over to the blog or PCP for more info and freebies.

My card features Steampunk Vivian and Victoria. I colored both images w/Copies and highlighted them with glitter pens. The papers are from my stash. I distressed the edge of one of the mats and then highlighted it with a gel pen. Believe it or not I know shorthand and still use. I simply wrote shorthand "o-o-m" around the mat. Again I used my Donna Salazar Sprights and Sprockets Spellbinders dies. The red shiny paper was left over from last Christmas. I added black bling to both images and finished the card off with swirl bling and pop dots.

Scary, Spooky & Creepy

Today at Sassy Design Studio, Dare to be Sassy Thursday (DTBST) the challenge is to  create something that is spooky, scary and creepy. For my card I used Dracula.

The card is measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. The image is available from SSD first Halloween Release. Dracula was colored w/Copics. I used three different Martha Stewart papers as my background. This card is quite dimensional as I always use lots of Pop Dots. I also used Martha Stewart glittered bats and acrylic spiders. The sentiment is also from the SSD Halloween collection. Finally, I used Really Responsible Ribbon's twine and added bling because I can't craft without it!

Steampunk Victoria gear frame

Meet Steampunk Victoria. She is a part of the new Sassy Design Studio Steampunk collection. Why not pop on over to the SSD blog and join in the Progressive Relay Challenge for full details.

This image included a gear frame but I cut the gears off and added my own. The picture is not doing the card any justice. I've got to work on my photography skills. The image and center gear are popped up with as well as the the first mat. I started out with Kraft cardstock. The card and layers were cut with the Close To My Heart Art Philosphy cartridge. As I've said before it is my new favorite cartridge. It has a little bit of everything on. The card edges were inked with Close To My Heart Ink. I colored the image w/Copics and I can tell that I need to re-ink. When I need to re-ink it is almost impossible to blend the color nicely. I tried to use colors that gave the traditional vintage feel. The gears were once again cut with the Donna Salazar Spellbinders die. The metal cog is from Tim Holtz. Of course I had to use bling.

Steampunk Amelia

The image was colored with Copics and double matted with distressed edges. I wanted the background paper to match my coloring so I dabbed it with Close To My Heart ink in Tulip. The cogs and gears were cut with the Donna Salazar Spellbinders die. I distressed some of the edges with sandpaper. The metal finding is from the Tim Holtz line. I gave it the pinkish finish with a Copic marker. The "ticket" is actually 1/2 of a 50/50 ticket that I retrieved from the castoff pile during my Sunday night bowling league. We all know that I can't possibly create without my bling! Amelia has her ticket and is ready for takeoff! She's both girly and adventurous.

In an effort to use my Cricut more in my card making, I used my Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the base circle card. Next, I cut the large Cog with the Cricut also and embossed it with the Cuttlebug "Circles" folder. The keyhole was cut with the Cricut as well. The other cogs and gears were cut with the new Donna Salazar Spellbinders die. The key is for Making Memories. Of course the image was colored with Copics the boots were accented w/bling. The background paper came from JoAnns and I cut pieces of it out and highlighted some of the gears. This card also present an opportunity for me to be able to use some brads. I don't know why I don't use them more often but I'm working on it. I interjected the blue accents to give it a little different look.
