Let Life Surprise You (7 Dots Studio)

Dear crafty friends,

I’m so happy, today, to get to share with you a mixed media scrapbooking tutorial I created for 7 Dots Studio. Let's look at the layout I created.

I selected my favorite paper from the Paint Chips collection as my base for the layout. I just love the colors on this paper!

I used a ton of mediums over it to get the right shade of deep teal/greenish color I wanted. I also wanted a few spots of dark blue and some with aqua colors. You’ll see about that if you watch the video tutorial.

I went a bit crazy with stenciling and stamping to get a very textured background. I used the stamps from Dreamscapes, Hazy Days and Paint Chips, as long as stencils from Soulmates and Dreamscapes collections.I love the result.

A few papers from the 6x6 paper pad from Paint Chips to mat my picture, embellies, stickers and die-cuts and everything came out pretty simply.

Capture the Fleeting Reality (7 Dots Studio)

Dear crafty friends,

I hope this post finds you well. I'm here today to share my monthly layout for 7 Dots Studio. Let's look at it.

When I was thinking about my layout, I thought of stepping out of my comfort zone. That's what I did, using two pictures on my layout. I can't remember the last time I included more than one picture on a layout.

I started out with the Hazy Days - Twilight paper. To make it my own, I used some Prima Art Alchemy Metallique Paint with the Dreamscapes - Geometry Stencil.

When everything was dry, I used some black Archival ink to stamp with the Hazy Days - Clear Stamps, the Dreamscapes - Clear Stamps and the Thought Keepers - Clear Stamps. I just love to add texture with stamps.

After that, I started to build my two paper clusters. I used the Hazy Days - Tags 12x12 and papers from the Hazy Days - pad 6x6, along with pages from an old book and some velum.

I used pieces from the UmWow Home Grown MASH chipboards, which I painted with Prima Art Alchemy Metallique paint amongst my clusters.

To embellish, I used pieces from the Hazy Days - Die-cut Elements 6x12 with some Hazy Days - Word Stickers 6x12.

I also used two flair from the UmWow Sepia Film Reel Count Down Flair kit.

I hope you like my layout and it encourages you to step out of your comfort zone.

Leaves Inspired Tags (Prima Marketing)

Dear crafty friends,

I don’t know about you, but here, winter has been rough. We had all kind of crazy weather: lots on snow, then rain, then snow again... I’m so ready for spring. And what better way to await spring than to create with green and leaves? That’s the theme for today on Prima’s blog.

I created a set of tags for this inspiration. I started out by cutting two tags shapes in corrugated cardboard. I peeled off some of the top paper to reveal the beautiful texture. Then, I added a light coat of white gesso, with a dry brush technique.

After that, I added some white crackle paste and left it to dry for a few hours.

I chose a lot of different leaves from my stash: some die-cut leaves from a previous project (using my favorites 584092 - Prima Dies - Forest Leaves), some maple leaves from a box (the 586676 - Box Flowers - Crisp Foliage) which I painted with Art Alchemy Metallique paint in Golden Moss and Rustic Brown. I also added leaves from the 594794 - Prima Flowers - Chesley.

Next step was adhering all my embellishments.

I colored some cheese cloth using a Prima Color Bloom 2 (Golden Oregano).

A few Art Stones and Mega Art Stones along with Bronze Micro Beads were glued to add some texture.

I really love those colors together.

Canevas with Shutters (Prima Marketing)

Dear crafty friends,

I'm here to share with you a canevas I created for Prima.

I used a watercolor panel as my base. I'm not a watercolor artist, so I decided to use this panel to make a canevas.

My focal point in the gorgeous Memory Hardware Wood Shutters by Frank Garcia.

I put a picture of my kids inside it.

I've decorated my canevas with a vine and some flowers.

To create texture, I used modeling paste with a stencil and white crackle paste.

To create the illusion of stones around mu shutters, I cut some cardboard pieces, which I covered with white gesso, then White Sand texture paste, and then a mix of modeling paste, texture paste white sand and mini Art Stones.
