A NEW ADDITION!!!!!!
On November 2nd we welcomed Whitney Taylor Stoker into the world! She was born at 8:07 on Friday morning. Doctor Layne Smith told us that we were going to be having a BIG baby and that it would probably be advisable to have her via C-section. The thought of Andra being cut open was not appealing to me but at the same time, I realized there would be less chance of complications this way vs. a traditional birth. We needed to be at the hospital at 6AM. It was crazy to think that we showed up at the hospital, checked in, got in our room, and it seemed like minutes later we were looking at our precious little girl! When Whitney came out, she was pale and wrinkled like she had been in a bathtub for 9 months. I was anxious to hear her scream as she was being rubbed and scrubbed with the doctors all around her...after about 30 seconds, they suctioned her nose and mouth and we heard her yelp! It was awesome! It is hard to believe that our little miracle had finally arrived! Momma was being sewn up while I got to hold her for a few seconds and give her Daddy's First Kiss! The nurses then wheeled her into the nursery. There, she was weighed (9.14 oz!) and was wrapped up like a burrito. A nursing student was poking and prodding her with all kinds of instruments and so forth. It was obvious that she was wanting to get as much experience as possible. I wanted to tell her to get her experience with someone else's baby! Andra didn't get to see Whitney for several hours. It was cool that the nurses allowed Andra to be wheeled into the nursery in her bed to see Whitney. Once Andra got into her room, she asked me to run out to the car to get something...on the way there I saw Tiffany Speakman on her way in! After Tiffany visited, we noticed a steady stream of friends and family coming over to see Andra and Whitney. Remarkably, Andra was feeling fine the whole weekend and couldn't wait to get home. Elle was the highlight of the weekend...She did not want to leave Whitney's side and was so proud of her baby sister. When Elle was in the room, she was protective of her and did not want anyone holding her sister but her!
