Hello Pumpkin

Thursday, September 29, 2016

Hello and happy Thursday everyone. Before I start with the fun stuff, I wanted to let you know that this will be my last post as a design team member for MarkerPOP. Having a young family, things are becoming very busy for me, and my creativity has been hard to come by lately! I am really disappointed that I've had to come to this difficult decision to step down from the team, but I just know it's the right thing I need to do! I hope you've enjoyed the projects I've created during my time on the team. I loved this team and using all the fun products!!

Ok on to the crafty stuff! Today's card features stamps & dies from My Favorite Things, and a Tim Holtz stencil. First, I started by die cutting an orange piece of card stock from the MFT Blueprints 29 die set. Then, using MFT's Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX, I die cut the dark grey card stock. To give the background behind the pumpkins a little more interest and texture, I ink blended some Black Soot Distress Ink over Tim Holtz's Mini Layered Stencil #22 (the leaves stencil). It's pretty subtle, but I LOVE the effect ;)

For the black and orange pumpkins, first I repeatedly stamped the star stamp from the Spooky Sweets set with VersaMark ink on black and orange card stock. It was then embossed with WOW! Gold Rich embossing powder--a NEW brand/product in the store! Make sure to check them out...there are a TON of colors to choose from! Then I ran them through my die cut machine using the smallest pumpkin in the Spooky Sweets die set.

The white pumpkin was also stamped with VersaMark ink onto Neenah white card stock, then heat embossed with WOW! Opaque Bright White embossing powder. The stem was embossed with the Gold Rich EP, then die cut. The sentiment is stamped on Neenah white card stock using the same gold EP, and then die cut using a banner die from MFT Blueprints 29. The white pumpkin and sentiment are popped up using some foam tape for dimension.

I hope you've enjoyed my fall/Halloween card today! I appreciate you stopping by. Have a great day.

With Love

Saturday, September 24, 2016

Good morning! I'm on the MarkerPOP blog today sharing a clean and simple fall card.

This card features Concord & 9th stamps and dies, and a Tim Holtz Mini Stencil. Have you seen the new C&9th Layering Leaves dies??? They are so amazing!! There are so many possibilities with these dies, and I've seen some really beautiful cards using them on Instagram.

I started with a Neenah Solar White card stock base. Using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed, and Twisted Citron, I blended the ink with a foam blending tool for a soft look. Once that was completed, I taped the Mini Stencil to the card base with removable tape. Then, using the same distress ink colors I mentioned above, I blended more ink over the stencil and it created a tone on tone effect! LOVE that look! I made sure to overlap each of the colors slightly to make it a smooth blend.

The leaves were die cut 4 times from Neenah Solar White card stock, and glued together in two stacks to give them some thickness and dimension. Finally, the sentiment from the Give Thanks set was white heat embossed on Black Card Stock.

Thanks for stopping in today! I hope I've left you with some Autumn inspiration. Enjoy your day ;)

Magical Birthday

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Happy Thursday everyone! I'm over on the MarkerPOP blog today sharing a unicorn card. I can't believe how popular unicorns are lately. It brings flashbacks to my childhood and My Little Ponies ;) I made this card for a special little girl who's turning 5 soon!

This card features Avery Elle stamps and dies. The light grey card stock was die cut using the largest die from the Sweet Scallops die set. It's the same size as a regular 4.25" x 5.5" card base. It's mounted to a Neenah Solar White card stock base. The stars, clouds, and stitched oval die are all cut from Neenah Solar White as well.

The rainbow & unicorn from the Be a Unicorn stamp set are stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I used the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a Waterbrush to color in the rainbow and the unicorn's mane, tail, and hooves: 21 Light Carmine, 29 Geranium Red, 50 Yellow, 70 Orange, 45 Pale Green, 47 May Green, 36 Light Blue, 32 Persian Blue, 83 Lilac, 80 Violet, 91 Light Gray. The star and horn on the unicorn are colored in with Clear Wink of Stella for a hint of sparkle! I also just fussy cut both pieces because I don't have the coordinating die for this set, but you can find it in the MarkerPOP store!

The sentiment is black heat embossed on the smallest oval from the Sweet Scallops die set. All the stars are also die cut from that set, and the clouds are die cut from the Special Delivery die set. The rainbow, unicorn, and oval are all popped up with foam tape.

Thank for popping in today! I hope you have enjoyed my project! Happy crafting!

We Flamin-go Together!

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Hello crafty friends! I'm over on the MarkerPOP blog today sharing this super cute CAS flamingo card! I made this for my husband since our anniversary is coming up!

To start off, I used a Neenah Solar White card stock base. The Avery Elle "celebrate" die cuts also are Neenah Solar White, as well as the Lawn Fawn Flamingo Together palm trees and MFT banner die cut that "flamin-go" is on. The green part of the palm trees are stamped in Altenew's Forest Glades, and the brown pieces are stamped with Dark Chocolate.

The flamingos were stamped on watercolor card stock with VersaMark embossing ink, then heat embossed with black embossing powder. Using ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers in 028 Pale Pink & 021 Light Carmine, I colored in the flamingos lightly, and then used a water brush to blend the colors together. The beaks use ZIG CCRB 095 Dark Gray. Then they were die cut using Lawn Fawn's Flamingo Together die set. The heart was colored in using ZIG CCRB 024 Wine Red, then finished with a coat of Clear Wink of Stella.

Underneath the two groups of palm trees, I used ZIG CCRB 091 Light Gray to quickly color a shadow under them to ground them. The palm trees were adhered directly to the card base. The sentiment was stamped using black ink. The celebrate die cuts were adhered directly to the card base for some added texture, and a fun way to include another sentiment without taking away too much from the main sentiment. Since the card is being used as an anniversary card, I thought "celebrate" was perfect to include on it ;)

The flamingos were attached to the card base using foam tape, and the heart was glued directly to them.

I hope I've inspired you today! Thanks for stopping by!

With Thanks

Thursday, September 1, 2016

Good morning! I'm over on the MarkerPOP blog today sharing a clean and simple card. This is one of my favorite styles to create. I love crisp, white backgrounds!

I started out with a Neenah Solar White card stock base. Using the incredibly awesome Misti tool, I first stamped the "thanks" sentiment from a brand new Concord & 9th stamp set, Give Thanks, with Hero Arts Navy ink. Then, I positioned the "WITH" on the Misti tool again, and stamped that using Hero Arts Wet Cement ink. The asterisk looking doo-dad next to thanks was also stamped with Cement ink! The right corner of the card stock base was rounded with a corner rounder punch.

On a separate piece of Neenah card stock, I used a foam ink blending tool and four Tim Holtz Distress Inks to create a nice blend of colors for fall (Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, and Mowed Lawn). Using a die from Concord & 9th's new die set, Layering Leaves, I die cut the leaves using the colorfully blended card stock. Love this look! Some Clear Wink of Stella sparkle was added to the die cut, and then glued to the card base.

Thank you so much for checking out my card today!

Blessed to Have You

Saturday, August 27, 2016

Hey there! I was over on the MarkerPOP blog Thursday sharing this card using two Honey Bee stamp sets, Bless Your Heart, and Country Wreath.

I started by white heat embossing the large sentiment and some flowers and leaves onto a piece of water color card stock. Using MFT's basic stitch lines, I ran the 'cross stitch' edge through the die cut machine twice, placing it once at the top of the panel and once at the bottom. Using a Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker in No. 083 Lilac, I carefully traced (in a thin line) around the entire word, "blessed". Then, using a water brush, I activated the Zig marker lines to soften them. The flowers were colored in using No. 031 Cobalt Blue, No. 083 Lilac, and No. 051 Lemon Yellow, and the leaves are No. 045 Pale Green.

I white heat embossed 3 clusters of flowers and leaves on the main base panel, and colored them using the same colors mentioned above. "To have you" was white heat embossed on black card stock and die cut from MFT Blueprints 29 and adhered to the top panel. The top panel is adhered to the card base with foam adhesive. To add some extra glimmer, a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins were added.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a great day!

Love Bug!

Thursday, August 18, 2016

Hello crafty friends! I'm over on the MarkerPOP blog today with this fun bug card! The Love Bug stamp set from Hero Arts is just the cutest, don't you think?!

I started by die cutting two panels, one with Distress Watercolor Card Stock, and one in black card stock. Using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (Carmine Red 022, Orange 070, Yellow 050, May Green 047, Cobalt Blue 031, Violet 080), I colored a small area of each color down the middle of the card stock panel. Then using a water brush, I spread the color around just enough to cover each insect. Once it was dry, I used Hero Hues Black Dye Ink to stamp each bug over each water colored spot.

The hearts were die cut with Neenah Solar White card stock and adhered to the main panel. Using a Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush, I added lots of sparkle to each of the hearts. The panel was then adhered to the black card stock panel.

To create the pattern on the front of the card base, I lined up the "Hi!" and the "love bug" sentiments right next to each on the same clear acrylic block. Then, I repeatedly stamped across the card, staggering each line. Love that background and that font! Finally, the other panel was mounted to the card base using foam tape. This was such a fun card to make!! I hope I've inspired you today and that you can set aside some crafty time for yourself! See you next time!

Ellen Hutson Guest Artist Challenge

Saturday, August 13, 2016

Hey there! I'm popping in tonight to share this card I created for the Ellen Hutson Calling All Artists Pin-Sights Challenge!

I used the Essentials by Ellen Totally Fabulous Designer Dies, and Altenew stamp sets - Painted Flowers and Sohcahtoa. To achieve a different color on the "TOTALLY" die, I first die cut it from the stitched panel, and it's still 'anchored' at the bottom (the letters don't actually get cut all the way). I wanted to make sure the word stood out, so I inked up a separate piece of cardstock with the Lavender Fields ink, then die cut "TOTALLY" from it, and snipped the letters off at the bottom. From there, I just glued each purple letter right on top of the white letters! Easy as pie! :D

If you look carefully, I also looped the "l" in "fabulous" behind the "T" in "TOTALLY", and rotated fabulous so it's on an angle. I really love that look!

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by! Crossing my fingers to be chosen for a guest artist spot! :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Altenew - Painted Flowers, Sohcahtoa
Dies: Essentials by Ellen Totally Fabulous Designer Dies; MFT - Blueprints 29
Cardstock: Neenah Solar White
Ink: Altenew - Jet Black, Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields; Hero Arts - Charcoal

MarkerPOP Challenge #101 Embossing

Monday, August 8, 2016

Hello! Today starts a BRAND NEW CHALLENGE over on the MarkerPOP blog!! The theme this time is EMBOSSING. Head on over to the blog to get the details on how to enter for a chance to win some awesome stamps!!

I'm sharing this fun baby shower card today. I started off by ink blending a soft blue sky on the Neenah card stock base with foam applicators and Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass. Using MFT's STAX Stitched Circle Scallop Frames, I die cut the largest circle from the set using Neenah card stock. Using black embossing powder and VersaMark ink, I stamped and heat embossed the stork, balloons, and baby bundle from Avery Elle's Special Delivery stamp set on watercolor card stock. Those images were then die cut from the Avery Elle Special Delivery Die Set.

The images were colored in using Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Bundled Sage, Tumbled Glass, and Wilted Violet. I then used a water brush to move the ink colors around and create a watercolor look.

After all the pieces were water colored, I adhered the circle die to the card base. I wanted to get the sentiment perfectly centered within the circle, so I used the wonderful MISTI tool to do that!! If you don't have one of these yet, I HIGHLY recommend it! It will greatly improve your stamping results!! So, I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark ink, and then heat embossed it with black embossing powder. When the sentiment is heat embossed, it really adds some 'punch' to the card. Love that shiny look!

The clouds were adhered directly to the card base, and the rest of the die cut elements were adhered using foam tape to add some dimension. A white gel pen was used to add a 'light spot' to the balloons.

I had a blast creating this card....I hope it brings you some crafty inspiration today! Thanks for stopping by!

Missing You! - Altenew

Thursday, August 4, 2016

Happy Thursday everyone! I'm over on the MarkerPOP blog today, and I'm so excited to share a CAS card using products from Altenew, one of my favorite stamping companies! CAS is my go-to style and I really love it...hope you enjoy it too ;)

I started by die cutting 3x the rounded tag from the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Essentials 1 die set, using Neenah Solar White card stock. Then, using an ink blending tool, I applied Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, & Salty Ocean Distress Inks across the middle of each tag, and also on the tiny die cut hearts included in the die set. The butterflies are from the Altenew Botanical Garden set, and were stamped on the tags using Versafine Black Onyx Ink. The sentiment, from Altenew's Label Love set, was stamped in the same ink and fussy cut and mounted with Foam Tape.

A strip of black and white striped paper was adhered to the card base, then the tags and sentiment adhered on top of that. Super simple card to create! I hope I've inspired you today. Hope you get some crafty time in soon! ;)

You Are Awesome!

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Hello friends! I'm really excited to share this colorful card today that is featured on the MarkerPOP blog. I was inspired by Jennifer McGuire's recent video about pattern stamping.

I started by creating a pattern using multiple stamps from the Hero Arts set Just for You by Lia Griffith. I stamped the whole watercolor card stock panel using VersaMark ink, and then heat embossed it with black embossing powder. You can see in the first pic below.
Then, using Distress Markers in rainbow colors (Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Pine Needles, Tumbled Glass, Dusty Concord, and Wilted Violet), I quickly colored in the flowers and around some leaves. You really don't have to worry about coloring each one perfectly, just work quickly and you'll be glad you did ;) You can see what I did in the second pic below.

Now comes the fun part! Place the panel onto a water resistant surface such as a craft mat or countertop. Using a Ranger Mini Mister filled with water, hold it about 6" above the panel and spray away! I LOVE watching the water react with the distress inks! The third pic below was taken right after I sprayed it. You can see that the colors are just starting to spread, and in the fourth pic, taken a minute or two later, they have spread even more and have blended with nearby colors!

After that, I just let it sit and dry for a half hour or so. I really love the results of this technique!
The panel is adhered to Neenah Solar White card stock. The Altenew sentiment is stamped with black ink on Neenah card stock and fussy cut. It was adhered to the panel with Foam tape, and some silver cord was looped around and placed behind it.

If you haven't tried this technique before, I hope I've inspired you to try it! Thanks so much for stopping by! :D  Have a great day!

Congratulations!

Thursday, July 21, 2016

Happy Thursday! I have a fun one-layer card to share with you today that is featured on the MarkerPOP blog.

I started out with a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock, and used a stencil, Hero Arts Charcoal Shadow Ink, and Foam Ink blenders to apply a subtle texture on the entire card base. Then, I also applied Ranger Distress Inks in this order, starting from the top left corner: Abandoned Coral, Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, and Cracked Pistachio. I took my time and only applied a little ink at a time so that the colors were soft. The more ink you have on the foam pad, and the more you apply it to the card stock, the brighter and bolder the color is.

Using the same Hero Arts Charcoal ink, I created an angled pattern with various stamps in the Hero Arts Garden Flowers stamp set.

Lastly, I die cut the Avery Elle Sentimental "congratulations" sentiment from silver glitter card stock and a dark grey card stock. Layering them together, with the grey one slightly offset, makes the sentiment "Pop" more.

I hope you've enjoyed my card today. Thank you so much for stopping by! :D  Have a great day!

Hello! with MarkerPOP

Thursday, July 14, 2016

Good morning! I'm here for MarkerPOP to share another floral card with you. It features the Funky Flowers clear stamp set from MFT, and the sentiment is from the Spring Hello by Lia Griffith stamp set from Hero Arts.

First, I used the embossing magic pad to rub over the whole piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Card Stock. Then, I inked up the flowers and leaves with VersaMark Ink, and stamped onto the watercolor card stock. Using a fine, white embossing powder, I heat embossed it. Using the following Distress Markers, I colored in the flowers and leaves quickly (Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Broken China, Bundled Sage, & Peeled Paint). The coloring didn't need to be perfect because then I took a waterbrush and brushed it over each petal and leaf to achieve a watercolor look.

The dark grey card stock was diecut using Lawn Fawn STAX Small Stitched Rectangle Die. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder and then mounted the panel to the card base with Foam Tape.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. :D  Have a great day!

Uniko July Revisit and Blog Hop!

Monday, July 11, 2016

Hello everyone! I'm really happy that you stopped by today because it's the Uniko July 2016 Design Team Blog Hop (and giveaway)!!

So, this month we are taking a look back at a previously released product, dusting it off and giving it some love! Below is the Paradise Hummingbird set we are revisiting this month.

I started by heat embossing the hummingbird with Princess Gold EP on TH watercolor cardstock. Then, I partially die cut a circle around the bird. Using 3 different Tim Holtz distress inks, I watercolored the body and wing. I just love those colors together....they blend sooo nicely!!

On a piece of black card stock, I also heat embossed the hibiscus flowers, leaves, and sentiment with the gold powder. A narrow strip of gold foil card stock and black and white striped patterned paper were attached alongside the black card stock. I wanted to add a touch more color to the card, so I inked up my craft sheet with the 3 distress inks that I used to color the hummingbird, and took a wet paintbrush, dipped it into the inks and then tapped the paintbrush over the card stock base to get paint splatters. The black panel was attached to the card base, then the circle was adhered using foam tape.

GIVEAWAY ALERT!! Simply comment along the hop to be in the chance of winning the Paradise Hummingbird clear stamp set and an eGift Certificate for £5 (or £10 if you already own the set). You have until midnight (GMT) Sunday 17th July 2016 to comment.

My first post for MarkerPOP!

Thursday, July 7, 2016

Hello there! I'm here today sharing my first project as a new DT member for MarkerPOP! I'm very excited to be a part of MarkerPOP and feel so blessed to have the opportunity to share my projects with you and work alongside amazing artists! My first card features the Botanical Garden stamp set from Altenew, and the Hero Arts stamp set, Just For You by Lia Griffith.

I started off by ink blending Citrus Twist Distress Ink with a Tim Holtz Mini Stencil at the bottom of the Neenah Solar White card base. Then the sentiment and grey dots were stamped right along the edge of the stenciled pattern using Fawndamentals Ink Pad-Hippo. Next, a Pretty Pink Posh tag (Stitched Essentials 1) was die cut with Tim Holtz Watercolor Card Stock and Black Card Stock. I heat embossed a black flower from the Botanical Garden set. Then the fun part! Using a Wilted Violet Distress Marker, I colored the flower slightly at the base of the petals, then used a water brush to move the ink and color the rest of the petal. The leaves were colored using Citrus Twist Distress Ink. Some twine was added to the tags, and then mounted to the card base with Foam Tape.

The top right corner of the card base was punched using a corner rounder punch. To finish it all off, a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins add some sparkle and shine!

Thank you so much for checking out my post today. :D  I look forward to sharing more with you!

Uniko June DT Blog Hop!

Saturday, June 25, 2016

Hello crafty friends!

It's that time again for a Uniko Design Team Blog Hop to celebrate another NEW RELEASE from UNIKO!! In case you missed it, there were 2 BRAND NEW stamp sets released on June 11th! Today will be filled with lots of fun and inspiration from the entire Uniko DT. The two sets are already AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE on the Uniko website!

So here are the two sets in case you missed it...

The first card uses a combination of both sets. I started off by stamping the large leaves from Paradise Leaves around the edges of the card stock. I continued stamping using several other leaves and ink colors to fill up all the gaps. There was a perfect little 'nook' between the leaves to stamp the sentiment and a few tiny flowers.
Then, I stamped the Toucan on a separate piece of card stock and colored him in using Prismacolor pencils, and then fussy cut him and mounted to the front of the card base with foam tape. I'm loving how colorful and bright this card is!

Next up is a card that features one of my favorite stamps from the Paradise set, the hibiscus flower. I stamped and fussy cut each one. For the stripes, I used a stencil and foam blender to apply the same ink colors to the card base. The top card stock panel was die cut with a Mama Elephant stitched edge die. After carefully arranging and adhering the flowers to the white panel, I stamped the sentiment and finished it off with some matte enamel dots from Doodlebug Design!

I'm entering this card into the current Virginia's View Challenge #22 - All About Colors. I think it's a perfect fit for this challenge! ;)

Make sure to hop along and leave comments on all the DT blogs! A random winner will win the entire June Release and the Paradise Hummingbird set (or an eGift Cert to the same value if any sets are already owned/purchased). Comment by Midnight July 2nd, 2016 for a chance to win!

Both the new products are available HERE now to purchase.

Uniko is also having a FREE Worldwide Shipping offer on orders of £35 or more (acetate packaging only - sorry).
The offer is this weekend ONLY, ends Sunday 26th June Midnight BST.
