I have managed to find some time to get my three old Necron Destroyers stripped and magnetised ready for painting, which I am really looking forward to. There is just something about these old models that I really like, so much so, that I think I want to get myself some more!

A New Year, A New Author!

Some of you may know me from my Blog Embolden40k which I can no longer maintain due to lack of time, but I still want to write and after a cheeky email to Nick to allow me to guest write for his Blog, here I am!

But for those of you who don’t know me, hello!

I’ve been playing 40k on and off for about 10 years! I played Eldar for a large portion of this time, in fact it was last year I stopped using my Eldar. I dropped them in favour of Grey Knights, I know, I jumped on the band waggon, I used my Paladins up until the last set of FAQs where they took away the Characters rule from the Paladin squads so essentials removed the rule that made them viable in a highly competitive list. So I moved onto Imperial Guard with Space Wolves Allies, after facing a list I really liked at Battlefield Birmingham, this list has my own twist though.

Last year I started to attend tournaments for the first time, after listening to the 40kuk podcast, which inspired me to sign up for Caledonian in January 2012, since then I have attended about 5 tournaments throughout the year, winning 1 with Paladins and coming 4^th after playing for the win in the last game, plus some respectable finishes, I ended the year ranked 54 in the UK, not too shabby if I blow my own trumpet. 

Since then I have been playing for fun while I amassed the horde of guardsman needed to make the army I wanted, although I have had no time to blog due to work and building/painting Warpath Corporation guard, I have still been able to play a number of games at the gaming club I attend every Tuesday night. I have also signed up for Caledonian (which takes place in 2 weeks) and Battlefield Birmingham in February.

So that's what I have planned gaming wise as for Blogging, well I enjoy writing tacticas, unit reviews, army lists, battle reports and tournament reports, so expect plenty of these! I do paint, but not a good standard, 3 basic colours and a wash... that's about as good as it gets...so I think I'll be leaving this sort of stuff to Nick who is a great painter, just check out his stuff here!

So there you go, a little about myself and what I have planned for the next few months, I look forward to talking to you on the Blog posts!

400 Posts! A New Year, A New Template?

After an amazing three years on the Blog, everything seems to be going in the right direction. Each year gaining more Hits, more Followers and more Comments, and that is fantastic. 2012 saw some record stats for me, mainly due to 6th Edition coming out and me getting the rule book early, but also due to more awareness of the Blog with the help of more Blog Rolls, Shout Outs and Links from many of you great people. I hope of course, that the content I have been putting out has had something to do with it as well...

So, now I have hit 400 posts, and the question I keep asking myself is, should I get myself a new template for the Blog? Don't get me wrong, I really like what I have, and that is the reason why it has stayed the same so far. I am not one for change to be honest, but it has crossed my mind that maybe my Blog would do better with a new template. Apart from really liking what I already have, I have to admit that I am a little scared of messing up the Blog when I change over, I would hate to lose all my work, and I am not too sure how to incorporate my header into a new template either...

I am sure all would be fine, as many Blogs I follow have changed with no issues, I even see some of them changing the template almost every month, so I am sure I would be able to work it all out. Now this is where you guy's come in. What do you think I should do? Should I get a new template for the Blog or stick with what I have? Please vote on the poll to the left and leave any comments for me below. I am really interested in getting your views on this, including anything else that you might think will improve what I am currently doing.

Happy 40k New Year!

This time last year I was posting about my New Years Resolution being to get more comments on the Blog, and thanks to everyone who has made that happen. I appreciate every single comment I have received, and with each one of them comes more inspiration to keep on posting. So, thanks so much everyone and a Happy New Year to all my long time readers and anyone else who happens to stumble upon this post.

My 40k plans for 2013 are to continue to paint up more of my armies. I am looking at my Fire Dragons, Farseers, War Walkers and Support Weapons for my Eldar. Maybe even my Avatar if I feel brave enough. For my Nids I want to paint up my other two Tyrgons, convert and paint up a Tyranid Prime, and finally get some Hive Guard conversions going. If money allows, I would like to get some 'real' Tervigons, and add some of the Necron units I still haven't played with yet to my army, like Triach Stalkers, oh, and few more Flyers would be nice.

I also really want to go to Games Day this year. I have only ever been once, and that was back in 2002, so I am long overdue to go. It would be cool to maybe meet up with a few of my followers as well as seeing how things have change, I might even consider entering Golden Demon. I'm also looking at entering a couple of tournaments this year if I can, so if anyone knows of any events happening in the Hampshire area of the UK that I could consider, please let me know about them.
