September 5 & 6
Our flight from Philadelphia to France was mostly
uneventful. We had upgraded our seats
from economy to premium economy and it made all the difference between being
uncomfortable and actually enjoying the flight. We did enjoy the flight until
the man sitting in front of Bob got angry because Bob needed to go to the
bathroom and this man had his seat back tilted back almost on Bob’s chest. So when Bob got up he pulled back on the seat
back and woke this man up. He was not
happy.
Dinner on the plan was surprisingly good. We both had the same thing.
When we arrived at Charles DeGaulle Airport we couldn’t find
the driver I had scheduled through Expedia to pick us up to take us to our
hotel. Bob made a quick call and the
driver was there in a matter of minutes.
We arrived at our hotel at 2:30 and the room wasn’t ready until 3:00
PM. We walked down the street to a small
restaurant and had some lunch.

When we got back from lunch our room was ready. We both laid down and had a little nap before
getting ready to go out to dinner.
Dinner was really excellent.

We both had a Royal Kir
Wine – Vin Provence Clos de L’Ours
Bob – Gazpacho
Bob & Iris –d’Agneau farcie aux hrbs doree au sautoir Lamb
Dessert – au beurre sale` (Crème Carmel un-caramelized)
The food was excellent and the service was wonderful.
I don’t think Bob was feeling very well at this point. He was up several times during the
night. The blanket, top sheet, bedspread
was an all in one thing and it was so so hot.
Friday, September 7th.
Breakfast at the hotel.
Mango Smoothie
Quiche Lorraine
Blueberry Muffin
- We shared these three items
I had a cup of tea
After breakfast we walked to the Metro Station, bought some
tickets and then took the Metro to La Nation which was the station closest to
the hotel we stayed at when we were in Paris in 2014. Then we walked blocks so Bob could see a
vendor he is trying to purchase some airplane model magazines from. All to no avail. Oh we found the man and his shop but he had
no idea where the magazines Bob wants are or if he actually has them. After that disappointment we, meaning Bob,
had to figure out what Metro lines to take to get to Galleries de Lafayette,
the department stores of Paris. We
walked around one store and then left there to find the main store and have
some lunch on their rooftop terrace restaurant.
WOW what a view. Beautiful, you
can see most of Paris with the Opera House being front and center, even though
it is the rear of the Opera House.

Then we had a scoop of ice cream as we were walking through
the store.
I had hazelnut and Bob had Chocolate Espresso
Then we walked around a couple of floors of the department
store looking for a pair of PJs for Bob.
The story behind looking for PJs is that the hotel didn’t use a top
sheet on the bed. They had a bottom
sheet and then a duvet which had a thick blanket inside. It made
sleeping very hot unless you had the air conditioning set so low you would
freeze when you got out of bed. We had
this in every hotel we stayed in though out the trip. The first couple of hotels Bob asked them to
give us a top sheet and a blanket and they all did it. Finally we figured out that if we took the
inside heavy blanket out of the duvet it was like having just a top sheet so at
the last two hotels that is what we did.
