Valentine Finishes & Ornament Tree

Yesterday I decided to finish some Valentine Ornaments I had stitched.  I can't tall you the designer or anything else about these ornaments since I didn't keep any information about them.

I stitched this one in 2007 and just made into an ornament yesterday.
This is a Blueladie's design by my friend Cathryn

Back from the framer

Carolyn form my LNS called yesterday to tall me the Eiffel Quaker was framed and ready for pickup.  She also had the Quaker Welcome by Midnight Stitching chart I had ordered. I am going to stitch this for one of my nieces.  So this morning my sister took me out to breakfast for my birthday.  We went to the Lederach Tea Room where we always go for birthday breakfast.  Then on to Just Cross Stitch.  We took 2 additional things to get stitched, Christmas Spirit by Lizzie Kate that I stitched for my sister and The Button Tree that I stitched for me.  Now I only have one more thing I want framed but I will have another one shortly as I am almost finished stitching Quaker a' Halloween by Jardin Prive.  Funny until I stitched Eiffel Quaker I really didn't like Quakers.  Now I think they are cool.

Eiffel Quaker by Jardin Prive

I am really proud of the Eiffel Quaker and think it will look wonderful in my office.  It was stitched in memory of our trip to Paris in 2008,

Halloween Sweatshirt

I decided to stitch 4 Halloween/Fall Sweatshirts for my 2 sisters, my friend and me to wear when we go to Lancaster in October.  I finished the 1st one last night.  Now I am trying to decide if I should stitch 4 different designs or do this one 4 times.  It was a really quick stitch and I think it looks pretty good.

Oct31 by Glory Bee from Just Cross Stitch Magazine.
I started this on January 15th and completed it on January 18.
Used DMC Floss rather than The Gentle Art Sampler Threads.

I also got a thank you note from my other Great Niece who I asked if she wanted me to continue making her Christmas Ornaments.  Shock of shock she wants me to continue.  So I will have to continue making 6 every year.  Good news is I already have 4 stitched for 2011 so only 2 more to go.

A nice note

For many years I have been making Christmas ornaments for the 7 children of my nieces.  A few years ago the oldest great nephew told his Grandmother he didn't really want them anymore so I stopped making them for him.  This year I decided to ask 2 of my great nieces if they wanted me to continue making them.  I honestly thought that they didn't like the ornaments and would say to stop.  I haven't heard from one of them but I received this lovely note for the other one.

"Aunt I and Bob,
Thank you so much for the Christmas money and ornament.  I have cherished all of the ornaments you have made me throughout the years.  Every year I watch my mother decorate our Christmas tree with handmade ornaments that either she made or others made for her.  I hope to do the same.  So, if it is not too much trouble, I would love for you to continue to make ornaments for me.   Love,  KA"

When I read this I cried.  She has never mentioned the ornaments before in any of her thank yous.  It was always thank you for the money or gift card.  This was the best Christmas present I received even if it was several weeks after Christmas.

Yesterday

I had an appointment yesterday afternoon to have a mamo and a dexa-scan.  Got to the hospital on time, had both test done and went to my car.  Started backing out of my parking space when bang someone hit me.  There was a man getting out of his car and the other driver, who was a OB-GYN at the hospital asked him if he had seen what happened.  He said I was backing out of my space before she started backing out of her space.  So technically it is her fault.  He left without giving either of us his name.  We exchanged information.  I have a dent and scratch on my back passenger side door.  Didn't look that bad to me.  When I talked to the insurance company yesterday afternoon they indicated that is it not so cut and dried that it was the other person's fault.  Although the fact that my damage is on the back door is a + for me.  If we both had back end damage they would say it was both of our faults.  Anyway the appraiser came this morning and I have about $1300.00 dollars of damage to my car.  I can't believe what it cost to get cars repaired.  If the good Dr. doesn't admit it was her fault I will have to pay the $500.00 deductible and be charged with an accident on my insurance record.  How do I stay out of parking lots?

I am starting to take down the Christmas decorations.  I have upstairs done except for the few things DH has to take down for me.  I am trying to clean really good before putting the normal stuff out.  We will take the tree down tomorrow and maybe I will start packing the other stuff in the family room away.  Depends on how tired my feet are after the tree is done.  I can always finish next week.  After all, I am retired and have nothing else to do.

Bob took today off work so we could go to Longwood Gardens but it snowed so we are staying home and being lazy.

Well off to fix lunch.

Happy Weekend

Happy New Year

I wish you all a wonderful 2011 filled with lots of love, happiness and prosperity.

I just figured out this morning that I completed 32 stitching projects last year.  Of course many of them were Christmas Ornaments but that is a lot of stitching for one year.  On Thursday I took Paris Quaker to the LNS to get framed.  While I was there I also order Welcome Quaker to stitch for one of my nieces.  I stitched Welcomes for 4 of my nieces a few years ago and never stitched one for CJ so I hope to be able to do it this year.

My stitching goal for 2011 is to stitch 4 Halloween/Fall sweatshirts before October.  I go to Lancaster for a shopping weekend with my sisters and best friend in October so I would like to have a stitched sweatshirt for each one of them.  I have been going through my stitching magazines in the last couple of days and making list of chart I like in each issue and have copied several Halloween designs I would like to use.  I need to find a fall design as my one sister is not fond of Halloween.

Happy 2011 may it be truly blessed for us all.
