Absent-mindedness
Today I had a 15 minute piano lesson. The lesson was supposed to start 1 hour earlier from my normal time today. I forgot. I was practising at home when I got a phone call around 4 pm (the lesson was supposed to start at 3.30). I answered the call, a little frustrated at being interrupted during the course of my (last minute) practising. It was my teacher on the line. And I immediately remembered- 3.30!!!
Aargh. So I rushed to my teacher's home. Reached at 4.15. Great. So I was walking to the lift when I noticed this girl in front of me, who stopped to keep her umbrella or something. I dunno why, but then I thought, "hm, maybe she's the next student..." (the lessons are one-to-one)
"Nah." So I went up and had the shortest piano lesson I've ever had. Sigh... It was so rushed. When the lesson ended, I was still feeling guilty for forgetting change in the timing of my lesson. My teacher phoned me only a few days ago to remind me. Anyway, when I left, guess who I saw? That girl again. And I think I saw a startled look on her face. Haha, she must have recognised me. So I was right! LOL, Wonder what made me think she was one of my teacher's students in the first place...
I dunno what's wrong with me. Sometimes I'm quite good at remembering things. Sometimes I totally forget. Why? And when I set an alarm in my phone, or make a note, to try to make sure I don't forget, I end up not needing the note or reminder, 'cos I remembered what I wanted to remember the whole time. But when I just try and make a mental note, sure, maybe I remember, but that little bit of info gets pushed right to the back of my mind, and I end up forgetting what I wanna remember. I guess it's Murphy's Law at work again.
Maybe I'll just play it safe from now on. I won't rely solely on my (unreliable) brain. Use a planner? Hahahaha... I've tried using a planner or a to-do list, but I end up forgetting to check the planner or to-do list. My phone's calendar/alarm's quite good. I just have to hope the batt isn't empty at all times...

Very full...
Ahhhhh.... Just came back home from an a la carte buffet Japanese lunch. Meaning it's a buffet, but instead of getting up to get your food, you order. Anyway, I remembered it being quite good. I'm not crazy over Jap food, but I kinda like sashimi. This time though, the whole lunch wasn't that satisfying. Maybe 'cos I ate too much... or maybe I remembered wrongly.
So I was feeling quite uncomfortable, having eaten too much. Not too bad now. I burped a bit.
I don't really like buffets. I either eat too much, or I eat too little, and then feel guilty for not eating my money's worth.

Blasted Dogs
So I slept at 10+ yesterday. And woke up to dogs barking. AT TWO AM. The dogs (or dog, not sure) were barking like crazy. Very loud. At first I was little irritated, but when I looked at the clock, I wasn't just irritated. I WAS %^&* PISSED. What kind of person lets their dog bark non-stop in the middle of the night? What kind of dog does that anyway?!?
Aargh. I wanted to get up and close the windows. But I didn't feel like getting up, and besides, closing the windows would make the room stuffier (even with the fan). So I tried waiting for those dogs to stop barking. I think their barking probably lasted for just 10 minutes. But it felt more like half-an-hour. At one point I believed they wouldn't stop barking. I imagined someone (maybe me) taking out a gun and shooting them. But of course, in the first place there are no guns, and I also don't know where those dogs are. They sounded like they came from that house my window is overlooking.
Anyway, besides thinking of shooting those dogs, I thought of other weird stuff. The first thing that came to my mind when I heard the barking, actually, was 101 Dalmatians. The disney cartoon. Why? Well, because there was a part where all the dogs in the city were barking to each other, trying to find some lost puppies. Haha. But there was only one (or a few) dog barking in my case.
Then after a while, I noticed that the dogs were barking in some strange pattern. And they kept repeating it. The same one. Do all dogs do that? Hm... or is it some code. Sounds fishy... lol
Well, in the end I managed to sleep again. But that wasn't the dogs woke me up another two times. In both cases I almost managed to fall asleep, when they started barking again.
Damned dogs. If I knew which house they're at I'd make a police report- Excessive noise, something like that.
On a less anti-canine note, GO ART OF STAR WARS EXHIBITION! $12 only!

12 bucks only!!!

If people are willing to fork out 6-9 dollars for a 2 hour Harry Potter movie, why can't they pay 12 dollars for (almost) unlimited time at a Star Wars exhibition? Fine, Harry Potter is more popular. Whatever... Harry Potter's never gonna have an exhibition like the Star Wars one!
Anyway, I didn't blog yesterday 'cos, well, I forgot. Nothing much anyway. Just stayed at home most of the time playing. Final Fantasy X, Dragon Quest VIII, Fatal Frame III, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. I always don't really feel like playing, but once I start, I can't stop.
Maybe I should go to the exhibition tomorrow. But I wanted to re-watch the movies first. There's a lot of time anyway...

Watched HP4
So I just watched the movie. Quite good. Quite. I prefer SW epIII though. But this one actually made me feel sad. At the end. No mean feat for a movie. Anyway, I'm glad I've finally watched it. One less thing to do.
I still have to find that Chronicles of Narnia. Not allowed to get a replacement. Aargh. It has to be at home somewhere...
And there's still the SW exhibition. No one wants to go with me... Only 12 bucks! ( If you're 16 and under). C'mon! If you can part with your money to watched Harry Potter, why not go to the SW exhibition?!?
Maybe when the clone wars cartoon comes out, SW will be more popular than HP. Maybe...

Breaking the 'routine'
Aargh. Lost my train of thought. I was gonna write about how I didn't finish all the newspapers from the days that I was in Malaysia, something I usually do. Hm...
Anyway, I intended to start the Chronicles of Narnia books today. But it seems finding my 7-in-1 volume is harder than I thought. I'm quite sure I saw it at one of the bookshelves. But now it's not there. Probably lost among the hundreds of books we have at home. Yes, hundreds. Literally. I could maybe even say 1000. Most of them aren't mine though.
So I guess I'll have to go and get a new copy of the Chronicles of Narnia. Most likely, I'll find the 'lost' copy when I get the new one. Murphy's Law. Ah well.
Oh, Coldplay's new video came out yesterday! It's a little... strange. And weird. And funny. But the song's nice. I think I'll make it my blog music.
Since I didn't blog yesterday...
Yesterday was very cold. The whole day. It was raining, but not very heavily. It hasn't been this cold for a long time I think. So I went for Piano, and after the lesson, when I stepped out of the lift at my teacher's home, I dunno why, but I started counting my footsteps. Or rather, I was walking to my counting. At "fifteen" I realised what I was doing, and then just for the fun of it I decided to continue counting my steps. Apparently it takes 864 steps to get from my teacher's home to my home. Excluding the bus ride. At least I think it's 864...
Yes, I'm bored. I dunno when I'm gonna go watch the Harry Potter movie. It seems most have already watched it. The funny thing is, of those who've watched it, they're split into two three camps. The "It's-not- bad", the "It's-not-good-at-all-cos-they-made-it-comical", and finally the "I-dont-care-it's-great-cos-I'm-a-big-fan". Lol. I'll probably fall into the first group. I'm not crazy about the Harry Potter. And how 'funny' can a supposedly "dark" movie get?
EDIT: Hm... so I did blog yesterday. haha

Back from M'sia
I'm back. Maybe it was a week away from blogging. Now I find I can't type that long a post. Or maybe it's 'cos I've got so many other things to do!
Gotta go watch the Harry Potter movie. So many people watched it already. Is it that popular? I don't remember that many people being excited about SW episode III. Some reviewer gave it 4.5 stars. The Harry Potter movie. My first reaction was "what the?!?" They only gave EpIII 3.5 stars. Anyway, I never trusted those reviewers. There was once they gave Sunyanzi's album 5 stars! Out of 5! Lousy reviewers. Biased. Maybe they like Harry Potter. So they just gave 4.5 stars.
Anyway, there's also the Art of Star Wars exhibition. Strange, not many people wanna go. Why don't they wanna go? It's Star Wars!!! Well, I'm going. Just don't know when yet. No hurry anyway. It's on till March. But I'd rather go during this end of year break.
Then I also want to read the Chronicles of Narnia. Yes, I haven't read the books. I've got them somewhere here at home; I just never bothered to read 'em. They seemed boring. But now the movie's coming soon. So I'll just give the first book a shot.
Hm... this isn't that short a post after all. Off to play...

Hairy Crabs!
It's Hairy Crab season! Not in Singapore, in China. My dad just came back from Shanghai yesterday. He brought 20 hairy crabs back. For those who don't know, hairy crabs are prized for their Egg or Milt. The meat is ok, but there's not much of it anyway. They're very small, compared to the regular crabs we get at restaurants.

Ate one last night. Hairy Crab supper. Yum.
Haha, I still remember when I found out what I was eating from the male hairy crab. I was quite young then. I thought it was egg. Then I was told it was "Milk" Milk? No, Milt. What's milt? Lol. The male equilavent of eggs. An euphemism for sperm. Sounds disgusting? Well, it's tasty. Crab milt, I mean. It has weird texture. Sticky. Lol. Ok, sounding too suggestive. Ahem...

Bad Timing
There's so much happening next week. The 4th Harry Potter movie's out on the 17th, and the Art Of Star Wars exhibition opens on the 19th (I think...). Oh and the O levels end next week. Haha, if I weren't in IP, I'd still be mugging like mad now.
Well, looks like next week's gonna be some week. But... I won't be in S'pore. My dad planned a trip to M'sia next week. To visit our relatives. Aargh. I guess I could watch the Harry Potter movie in M'sia, but the exhibition is held at the Science Centre. Singapore. Of course, that exhibition will be on til next year March... but I wanted to be there at the opening. Sigh.
Oh well, I guess I'll just go after I come back from M'sia. Btw, I heard there are two kinds of tickets for the exhibition. Adults and Children. If I remember correctly, those "16 and under" fall under "Children", according to what was advertised for the exhibition. I hope it's not a typo, haha. Those tickets aren't cheap.

What Can I Do?
Woke up at 7.40 today. I set the alarm at 7, but it didn't ring. Dunno why... but the alarm indicator was on when I checked it. Anyway, I set the alarm 'cos there was training today at 8.30. So, did I go? Hm... that's a veeeryyy good question... Er... let's just say I overslept, haha.
My whole body still aches. And now my right forearm also hurts, 'cos I think I didn't really bowl properly at the 'gathering' yesterday. Must've pulled something.
Anyway, I'm beginning to feel bored. No, 'bored' isn't the word. I have a lot of things to do. A lot of games, and there's training (aargh), and there're a lot of supposedly good movies coming up. Oh, and there's piano too. But I still have this sense of purposelessness in me. After the exams, I don't really have a goal to work towards. I'm sort of just whiling away my time doing fun (games and piano), or useful (training?), but still useless things. Yeah, I'm contradicting myself here. Can't find a better word. I have no purpose! Aargh.
Some of my classmates (or ex-classmates now...) have taken up part-time jobs. That sounds like something worthwhile... but I've got TRAINING! 3 days a week! How can I find a job that only requires one to work 2 weekdays a week? lol. Of course, I could always skip training... But I don't feel good at all evertime I pon training. My conscience gets to me, haha.
Right now, barely two weeks into the two month long school holiday, I'm actually starting to look forward to the end of the holidays and the start of JC life! Is that a good thing? Maybe. But I don't wanna regret not making full use of these two months.
What Can I do?

4K 'gathering'
Well, we sort of had a 4K gathering today. We only just planned it yesterday, lol. Some people didn't want to go, some were overseas, and some weren't even informed, haha. So in the end only 17 of us (out of 33) turned up at Marina Bay MRT, the meeting point.
We went bowling first. I was trying to top my personal best. Didn't play that well today. I didn't even manage to break 100. But that's if you don't count the game where I had a bit of 'help'. See (Click photo):
"X" is me. There was a problem with the lane we were playing at. The machine didn't replace the pins when it came to my turn. So I just bowled the ball in. And got a free strike. THREE times. In a row. LOL. So although I got 136 in the end, I think my personal best should still be 118... One must be honest.
After bowling, we went to play lan. I'm really very lousy. At CS. Even worse at dota. I can get killed by the computer, lol. Anyway, it was my first time at dota. But it doesn't seem that fun... wonder why so many people are so crazy over it.
Then after that, dinner. I don't really enjoy it. It was almost like the last time when we had a class lunch at Seoul Garden. We just kept eating and eating. I felt full, but not satisfied. I dunno... the food wasn't great. Maybe that's 'cos we cooked it ourselves, haha.
Seem appetising to you?
After dinner, I was already feeling a little tired. From yesterday's training. But I still followed the others for a few games of pool. I think I've improved. At least I don't miss the white ball anymore...
Took the mrt home. I could've taken a bus home from the station, but I decided to walk. Only 15 minutes... how hard could it be? Well... I can't say it was a tiring walk, but when I got home- wahhhh. I could barely walk around. When I got home, I sat down to join my brother watching TV. Then when I wanted to get up- I almost couldn't. My whole body's aching. Not from today, but from yesterday's training. And there's training tomorrow! Sigh...
Should I go? Do I have a choice? Aargh.

Very tired from training.
Very. Tired. I went for training today. My first training in two months. I was quite reluctant to go, but once I reached the 'softball room', I sort of felt at ease again. Maybe it was the familiarity of it all. I thought I'd never go back there again. We A-boys were supposed to train on our own. But Mr Toh wanted to oversee our training too. So we're training at the high school section. Well, the high school section has got a bigger field...
Did batting today. Some others were fielding. Then we had a game. Oh, did I mention? I can still throw the ball- just not as accurately as before. I'd say now 50% of the time I reach my intended target. Lol. It'll all come back after a few more trainings, I guess. I hope...
My fitness level is at 60%, I think. 4 months without training, haha. I felt tired after running for a little while only. And my hands have gone "soft". The skin, I mean. Usually, I don't get blisters that easily from batting, 'cos after I get the blisters once, the area of skin hardens. But I think maybe 'cos I haven't done any batting for ages, the hard skin has 'softened'. I got 3 blisters while batting today. Two broke. Ouch. So I couldn't really bat during the game.
But I did quite ok for fielding. Played catcher. I think Toh still wants me to be catcher. Anyway, at the last inning, I dunno why I suddenly couldn't throw two. During the warmup, my throw went high. So I tried to throw lower when the runner stole to 2nd. Well... I didn't throw high. I threw low. A one-bounce. Wth. But what was more surprising was that we still got the runner out. And the runner wasn't just some Sec 3 or 4. It was one of our fastest J1 players! LOL. To top it all, it happened a second time immediately after that play!
It was only after I got back home from training did I realise how tired I was. I started feeling sleepy- very sleepy- at around 8.30. Haven't felt this tired in a long time. Not since the last training.
I suppose going for training isn't that bad... I could use the exercise. And it is fun... maybe...

2005 Results
So, the last day of school was quite uneventful. Most of the day, at least. I couldn't wait to get my results back. The talks were boring, like yesterday. And then we had to wait almost two hours before the darned admin would give us the keys to our classroom. Our teacher insisted on giving out the report books in class.
Anyway, it wasn't quite what I expected. I sort of imagined all of us sitting in our seats waiting for our turn, the form teacher giving out the report books by index number. For one thing, our form teacher wasn't even around. He left for Malaysia already (he's m'sian). And not all of us were present. Also, the class was a mess when we opened the door and walked in. Not at all like the neat rows in my imagination. Ah well. But the most unexpected thing was that when our English teacher (also co-form teacher) started giving out the report books, mine came first. Apparently my report book and three others were left behind initially when the teacher went to collect the class' report books. What the heck.
As it always is for me, all my excitement dissapeared at that moment when I got my report book. I opened it up. Then I realised I was looking at 2004. Someone inserted the slips wrongly. So I flipped back a page. There it was. They sort of changed the background of the slip. Well, there's no more CHS. only HCI. And they changed the font of the school motto too. lol. Ok, on the the more important stuff. After taking in the new 'background', my eyes immediately went to the bottom- where my MSG was.
1.67. Oh yeah. I felt good. But not great. Dunno why.. maybe it's 'cos I already estimated I would get around that for my MSG.
Then I read the next line. 3rd in class. OMG. I didn't expect that at all. I thought lots of people would do better than me.
I spent alot of time looking at other's results, when I realised I hadn't even looked at my individual subject grades. I thought I had a chance
| Subject | Exam |
| Final Grade |
| English | 72 |
| A2 |
| Chinese | 64.5 |
| B3 |
| Maths | 79 |
| A1 |
| Chemisty | 86.5 |
| A1 |
| Physics | 76 |
| A1 |
| IH | ? |
| A2 |
Ok... so I did get B3 for Chinese! But I dunno why I only got A2 for English. A1s for Maths and the Sciences. Can't complain. A2 for IH - pleasantly surprised. That meant I got at least 65 for MRP. Wah.
Didn't get to play today. Piano lesson. The piano recital my teacher's organising is coming up. December. Wahhhh... Gotta practice more. But I wanna play FFX...
Btw, just when I thought this was such a good day, and just when I thought the holidays have finally begun, and I can slack... I GET A FRIGGIN' SMS from my (ex)captain!
"hey training tmr".
AAAARRRRGGGH.
Oh well... I can't just keep skipping training forever. I'm gonna have to start training again. I think I've forgotten how to throw a ball. Lol.
Oh, one more thing: I tried to take photos of all my classmates using my phone. Some weren't around today, though. And some were very reluctant to have their photo taken. But anyway, I'm gonna post it up here. A post dedicated to 4K. Hm... good idea. Maybe tomorrow.

Report book!
Oh. I knew it'll be the last day of school tomorrow all along. And I knew I'll be getting my report book back on the last day of school. But I've only just realised that the report books will be given back to us tomorrow. Aah! I hope I do get an MSG of below 2...
Anyway, about today. Sucked. Humanities in Celebrations inspired a HATE for humanities in me. What the heck. We spent 1 and a half hours listening to some chinese guy talking about 人文的意义。 He was quite a good speaker, I think. But he got quite out of point. Not that I didn't mind his 'stories'. But he kept plugging his own magazine ("萌芽" I think). And he sort of talked only about the Literature aspect of the humanities. Can't blame him. It's the most "humans" of the humanities. lol
Many of us wanted to go home during the break. I wanted to too. But sigh, our class chairman so righteous... made us stay. So we went for another talk. Aargh. There were a few names I recognised- Mark O'Connor, 尤金, Suchen C. Lim, Catherine Lim. But WE DON'T GET TO CHOOSE which talk we wanna attend!!! I mean, we're already being forced to go to this stupid Humans thingy, let us choose the least unpleasent talk to attend! So in the end I got stuck with some fat old angmoh speaker at the library. Oh, then he introduced himself as Mark O'Connor. Oops. haha. But anyway, I only heard of his name- I didn't know what he did. So I found out he is and "environmentalist-poet". Err... ok. But the talk was not so bad. It was better than the Chinese one- not 'cos it's English, but 'cos it was shorter. And I think I saw an ex-nyps classmate... There were "guests" from other schools. Not sure, maybe I saw wrongly. EDIT: Yup, I did see wrongly.
Gimme MSG < 2.
Please?

2 more school days left
So, after Tuesday, the school holidays will officially start. Woah. I suddenly just realised that these two days will be my last two days as a Secondary school student. Wahh...
But these two days are really useless. Pointless. Crap. Stupid "Humanities in Celebrations". What the heck. We're being forced to attend talks and stuff. I wonder who planned and 'coordinated' this. It's like they just organised this thing, and made the Sec 3 and 4s go. We weren't even told what it was about. Gotta check out the almost hidden webpage on it. Wth. And worst of all, it COMPULSORY.
Lol- look at this quote from an EMB (online message board) message about the Humans thingy:
"YOUR ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSORY. The objective is to inspire a love for the humanities, besides a love for reading and writing in both the English and Chinese vernacular."
Interestingly, those two sentences were put side by side in the original message too. Inspiring "love for the humanities" and "love for reading and writing" through compulsory attendance- That's the way to go, man. Why didn't anyone think of that before?!?
Aargh. I just want to get my report book back and be done with this academic year.

Stupid Adware
Phew! I didn't blog yesterday, 'cos my computer got infected by adware. What the heck. I've used computers for 6 years (I think) without any problem- no viruses, no adware. Ok, the hard drive crashed one time, but that was 'cos it was old, there weren't any viruses. Of course, this computer I'm using isn't the desktop at home. It's the laptop. No firewall. My desktop's still fine. Maybe I should get one now.
Anyway, yesterday morning, I turned on the laptop, and started browsing my usual sites, while leaving BitComet on to download stuff. I vaguely remember absent-mindedly closing one or two popups... Then after a while I realised that the popups kept... popping up. Then a shortcut to some site suddenly appeared on my desktop (the computer 'desktop', not my other com). I deleted that. And suddenly not only were there popups in my browser, some of them actually opened ontheir own! That meant that I had some adware on my computer. The onslaught of popups had begun. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little. But it was frustrating.
I tried Ad-aware. It sucks. After doing a "full system scan", and "deleting" the adware, the popups still kept coming. I tried the free Norton antivirus that came with the laptop. Didn't work either. Dammit. I tried all sorts of stuff- manually deleting anything that seemed like crap, and trying to block access to ad servers. All didn't work.
What really bugged me was that I don't remember doing anything out of the ordinary that morning. I just visited my usual sites and started BitComet. How did adware get in? Aargh.
So I kept trying to stop the popups, until late evening. Then I had a brainwave- Restore the computer. Reformat. Wipe out everything. That meant I had to back up all my stuff. Used a total of 14 CDs and 1 DVD. I used CDs 'cos I didn't want to waste my DVDs. I have tons of blank CDs. But then I got tired of burning the CDs, so I ended up using one DVD.
Anyway, luckily for me, IBM has some pretty nifty restore thingy. I used to not only reformat the hard disk, but to restore it back to what it was when I first got it. So that means those preinstalled programs were still around.
Phew. I started putting all my stuff back onto this computer from morning until just a while ago. So far no popups. There'd better not be anymore.
Ok, I'm gonna get a firewall.

So, no school again today. Stayed at home the whole day, except for lunch. Played a lot. My brother just got Star Wars Battlefront 2. Yeah! Yet another fun game to play.
Just a while ago, my right wrist started itching. I started scratching. Then suddenly my left wrist became itchy too. And then rashes appeared on my wrists. What the heck. I never had rashes before. Not that I can remember anyway.
And my ankles are itching too. Aargh.
And now my elbows. Wahhh...

FOS. What a joke.
Haha. Had to go school today. For the "Festival Of Sports". LOL. Waste of time. I ended up spending the whole time in class, playing Bridge and Metal Slug on the class computer. A whole bunch of us were in the class. What a fun FOS.
Anyway, after that, followed Kai Keat and others to Beauty World to get pirated games. I was gonna go home after that, then Lok Fung called. So I went his house instead. Spent two hours doing crap and playing a little daidee and Bridge before heading down to the billard room. Played pool. Is it the same thing- Pool and Billard? Dunno... Anyway, I sort of improved. I managed to hit the ball with the cue everytime. Lol. Hey... that was only my second time playing... of course I'm lousy. But I think I finally found a good hand "shape" thingy to rest the cue on when hitting the ball. Next time I can play better.
Btw, I ponned training today. Can't say I feel good about it. Can't say I feel bad either. I've lost most of my enthusiasm for Softball already... But I can't think of any other sport to join.
Just listened to some Final Fantasy music. Nobuo Uematsu rocks! He's damn pro. I'm gonna listen to the whole of FF9 soundtrack tomorrow. I wanna listen to it now, but I've gotta sleep...
So fun. Tomorrow's another public holiday. But of course, A long uninterrupted school holiday's always better. Can't wait for next Wednesday to come.
