Personal Messages from the chief evangelists of DroidLabs

The "pirating" hobby has evolved.

I have always pride myself in the ability to obtain duplicate copies of really cool products/services. I don't know why but i just have a compulsive desire to pirate anything i can find, even for the things that i can easily afford, just for the sheer fun of it.

Starting with just music and movies in my teenage days(which i stopped because of youtube and ppstream), my hobby has evolved into many different things.

Some of the list in my pirating resume includes
  • Getting most of the books that i read free.
  • Pirating the MAC OSX 10.6.2 and installed it on my PC. So i can use the OSX without actually buying a Mac. Hehe.
  • Heck, i have even pirated a board game before.

And i thought to myself, i should start something meaningful out of this hobby for pirating things.(Not in an illegal way of course)

Enter the biggest pirate of all. China. I really love China.

These guys totally own me when it comes to pirating. They are the pirating gods. And they are really good at what they do.

During my recent visit to Shanghai, I rewarded myself with a fake Apple Ipad that runs on Android. The geek in me threw away every item on my shopping list(jeans, shirts, shoes) and got myself this baby instead.

The excitement ended immediately when i took the pad out of the shop and played with it. No surprise considering that it is China. Nothing works right. The keyboard was hard to use, the screen is not responsive at all. The speed, is really slooooooww.

However, the pirate in me never really gave the idea up(of the Android pad). If apple can find their Foxconn, I sincerely think that China is more than capable of producing something that is of quality.

When i returned to Singapore, the hobby took into a new form of its own.

What if i really can find a decent android pad? Something that does not mimic or copy its "twin" brother, but has an identity on its own. Something that is decent to use and can really benefit its users and enhance the quality of their lives and productivity.

I went on a journey to look for a decent Android tablet.

And out of that journey, I introduce to you - DroidLabs.

I founded this company with the rest of the chief evangelists. Our Mantra is simple - "Technology for all"

We hope our hobbies and passion for technology will expose you to a new array of affordable and good devices to you. Enjoy your experience with us and have fun in our shop.

Hardy Hutajaya Kowari

I am really glad i started this business. It is nothing massive, each of us are just coming out with $250 each. Considering that we each have our own careers. Having to come out with the extra time everyday above our church life, family life, trading life, to do this is challenging. But i am enjoying every moment of it, as technology is something that i really like. Thinking about delivering the android pad to a satisfied user keeps me up when i have to burn a bit of midnight oil designing the website and planning the various aspects of it.

Also really thank God that i am getting busy with it at an emotionally challenging moment in my life. It keeps my focus away from the emo things.

I love China!

New Shanghai Findings

With less than 30 days left to my holiday trip to chilly Shanghai in October.
A few places that i found in my research

Tongchuan Lu Shanghai Fish Market.
- Apparently they sell the fish separately. Buy the fish first, and go to a restaurant to cook it. Plus the recommended food is crab, not fish.

Suan La Tang @ Xiao Fei Yang
Hmm. I know the steamboat is good, i didnt know the suan la tang version is good. This scheduled to be the first night dinner. Cutie lamb, here i come.

Chicken Wing + Yang's Sheng Jian Bao @ Wu Jiang Lu.
I know the Shen Jian Bao is like the best. Its like, Wu Jiang Lu = Sheng Jian Bao Every shanghainese that i talked to strongly recommend the xiao long bao, and the sheng jian bao in wu jiang lu. I must get my hands on those baos. They have 2 Shopfronts side by side with queues to the brim on both shops . Apparently, the chicken wing is a must try too.

Japan Pavillion in Shanghai Expo
Everyone talked about China. Singaporeans tell us to visit the singapore pavillion. But nobody talked about the Japan one. However, it is ranked first in trip advisor. So, here i come.

Shanghai Zhu Jia Jiao Ancient town.
You know those old chinese town where houses are built in front of water ...... The best preserved ancient town in china.
Pictures speak more than my words la. But i am definately going.
