Oh, Poop!

Becky sent me a puzzle and a card in honor of my knee replacement surgery. All I can say is --- this is exactly how I felt (and looked) afterwards because of the side effects of the pain medication.

The Hulets Three

I don't want my knee to be the first blog seen if someone happens to check out my blog -- so I will also post this picture of Randy, Sister Hulet and Kaycee. Randy and Kaycee were able to attend Julie's sacrament meeting in Salt Lake to hear a friend of Kaycee's give her farewell talk. Hopefully this won't be the last time they will see her before she leaves and goes somewhere "out in the mission field" for a few months.

NEW KNEE -- Now Bionic Woman

The second knee was done Oct. 15. Now it is time for gross pictures. Actually, I tried to pick the least gross picture. The knee is doing excellently (if that is a word) and I am recovering quite a bit quicker than last year. I have already moved from walker to cane and I only use the cane when I go outside. Yeah for modern medicine!!

Missionary Update

So many of our friends and family have seen Julie on her mission. At conference this past weekend she met the mother of a sister missionary here in our ward and so the mother had to call me and report on my sweet missionary. Kaycee got to see her (see above picture) and Randy found her on Temple Square, both on Saturday.

LAST OUT OF THE NEST

Well, our last had flown the coop! We left Randy at BYU eleven days before classes started because Mike had to be back to PSU to teach on Aug. 24th. He was the only one in his apartment for the first week, but he seemed to survive just fine without his Mom. The big question is. . .can I survive without him?? Yeah, I think so -- I've still got Allie (the dog) -- just joking.

Randy Got His Wisdom Teeth Out!

Randy got back from Europe on Sunday night and by Monday morning was meeting with the oral surgeon to discuss removal of his wisdom teeth. It was deemed logical to get them removed before he headed to BYU in August and by Wednesday noon the deed was done. Here is his reaction to the anesthesia -- he's pretty funny.

Another Temple Square Run-in

This was from Jamie Naluai:
One of the first days there we decided to take the new frontrunner train into SLC and go to temple square. Something we always like to do but hoped to see a certain Sister while visiting. As we walked toward temple square I wondered if we could ask someone if they knew a Sis. Hulet and where she might be. Imagine the first person we came across as we entered the gates was in fact Sis. Hulet so we didn't have to ask anyone. It was wonderful

FLOWER GARDEN

These are my flower gardens in front of the house. This year they were exceptionally beautiful -- maybe it was the cool weather and o.k. amount of rain. We've yet to have temperatures in the mid to high 80's for more than a day. That is probably why our garden is a little behind the norm.

HUMMINGBIRD

I get a couple of hummingbirds at my feeder -- wish there were more that came, but I'm happy to get the two or three - I really can't tell them apart to count correctly. You have got to look close, but she (females aren't as colorful) is there.

THE FAM

Everyone was home for Mother's Day and Julie's send off for her mission (excepting son-in-law, Michael) It was the best Mother's Day ever!!!

RANDY - ZERMOTT - MATTERHORN

This is in Zermott. The lady who took the picture of the Matterhorn said that it is very seldom that you can see the whole thing -- usually there is a ring of clouds around the top. Looks like everyone is taking pictures -- except my boy!

SISTER HULET IN ACTION

A boy from the University Branch here in State College is out in Utah for the summer. He posted some pictures on facebook from his visit to Temple Square -- where he ran into "Sister Hulet". Julie's companion/trainer is Sister Kwok from Hong Kong.

WE'VE GRADUATED!!

O.k. -- it's actually Randy who has graduated. But Mike and I have been in school with kids since 1983 -- that's 26 years. We also graduated seminary -- we did 17 years of that!

But back to our honoree. Randy graduated with a class of 635. He is a Faculty Scholar and he will be attending BYU this fall. Mike and I will be taking him out in August and will return home "empty nesters" (loud, sad sigh).

Sunday, May 03, 2009

Julie is home for 2 1/2 weeks before she leaves again - back to Utah. We went through the temple with her on Friday (23rd). She will enter the MTC on May 13th and will be there for one month before she heads to Temple Square.

BLESSING DAY

Blessing day for Calli & Claire. Elizabeth's folks were staying with them, so Dad, Randy and I left PA at 5:00 a.m. (actually felt like 4:00 a.m. because of the time change) to be at the church by 9:00. Afterwards, 3 other families came over and we had a lasagna lunch with a scrumptious chocolate trifle dessert. We stayed until about 4:00 then headed home. It was a long, but lovely day. What a blessing grandkids are! If I had known how much fun they were going to be, I would have had them first!!
