Danks

Hi everyone,

I haven't blog for quite sometime. Well, everything seems good recently. Just completed a mid term test and presentation yesterday. More to come!

I got a job as a picker/packer last month in a Distribution Centre in Welshpool, 9KM away from my home. I got this job through an agency and immediate commence work after two interviews.

As my work area involves heavy machineries and high risk, all workers have to comply strictly to health and safety regulation. So, I have to pay $120 to buy a bloody steel cap boots before work! haha

But well, I must agree this pair of shoes has already protected me from many small injuries :)
I'm currently working in a company named John Danks, which was established more than 150 years and Melbourne based. It was only recently that Woolworths Retail took over this company. Operations in WA only commenced in 1999, which also made it a truly national company. This DC that I'm working in is quite new and will still expand.
Our warehouse currently holds and supplys more than 21,000 product lines. Well, my job responsibility is mainly picking and packing orders from all stores in WA. There are about 30 workers and I'm the only chinese. haha
We supply all sorts of hardware and timber products like Bunnings warehouse. Product ranges include glove, helmet, screw, nut, timber, sandler, gardening tools, chain saw, paint, cement, fertilizer, ladder, BBQ set, furniture, etc. Some stuff are even taller and bigger than me, and some are really heavy!
Workplace is wide and clean but work hazard is present at all times. I've had some accidents with my "buggy" (Pallet truck) but luckily I was not injured.
So, this is basically how it looks like at my work place:

Stock are located up to 7 or 8 metres high but all these stock will need to be let down by pallet lifter.

This is the pallet jacker/truck that we normally refer to as "buggy". We usually use these buggies to pick and carry our orders.
Like in this picture, the stuff on the back are actually fertilizers.

I can say this job is better than my other casual job. Time is fairly fixed, which means I'm working Mon to Wed, from 6.30/7.00 am to 3.30pm. The only thing that I dislike beside waking up early is carrying heavy stuff and smelly stuff like fertilzers, which made me smell like chicken manure the whole day!
Hope everyone is good back there! Take care!

My New Toy

Bought this lens from a guy about 2 weeks ago. It's a macro lens. It's fast, light weight, small and most importantly, cheap! hehe

Did some random shots with it and I admit that I like this lens pretty much.
Now..something for fun...
Using lens focus point to illustrate the different perceptions of people towards TIME and MONEY...

Some people view time more important than money...and time is on top of everything

But some see the $$$ sign more than anything..their minds are corrupted with $ and is in deep shit. They betrayed time and become slaves of money...

You can use money to buy most things...cars, house, popularity, property, sex, etc.

But time cannot be bought or traded by any means...Time is always in the past and will never come back...
Had this random shot when I was doing my assignment halfway...I felt that I'm in between the money and watch. I have a very busy schedule cause of my assignments, school work and also of my personal aim of earning as much money as possible. But there are always trade-offs. I come home with money but I come home late or in extreme exhaustion..Lots of things to catch up but I find life more interesting and challenging! hehe
Hope that I can explore more opportunities and grab more experience in this hectic life. 1 more month and I'll be sitting for my exams...
Hope everyone is doing good! Take care! hehe~

Updates!

Hello everyone!! How's everybody??
Sorry for not posting as I have lots of things to do. 4 group assignments coming up and 1 due next week with a presentation. I'm having at least 4 group meetings this week...=S

Well, life is pretty busy. I'm currently taking 4 units for this semester and working on 2 jobs. I just got a new job recently as a waiter at a 5-stars catering service provider named Spotless. My job is rather challenging and is based at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. So far, I've worked 3 shifts, 2 on weddings and 1 on High-school ball party...So far my longest working hours is about 8 hours and finishing at 2.30am...haha

I must admit that I'm beginning to like this job not because of free food but it's quite challenging and am learning new things every shift. Got to know more people around the world and also the opportunities to see how it exactly looks like working in a 5-star catering environment eventhough I'm not in hospitality management.

Although pay is far better than my old job (souvenir shop assistant) but it's always very stressful during work time as we have nasty team leaders and managers and tight schedules to meet. Time passed by quickly in such environment.

Hope everyone one else is doing good back in Kuching and overseas =) I must get back to my assignment. Tmr morning still working =S

Goodbye my dearest Blacky

Blacky ah Blacky..
Ah Black...
Black Black.... These are all the names that I called her since I was 9 yo.

I first met Blacky when I was in Primary 3. She was given from my mum's friend...

She has always been a naughty girl and caused us a lot of problem. I remember my mum used to LINE UP all the SHOES and SlIPPERS of my neighbours EVERY morning because Blacky liked to take souvenirs from neighbours...

@2003 Dec - When Blacky silently followed behind my bro when my bro was walking towards Batu Lintang Scout HQ...So, we had no choice but to welcome her as a camper too!

@2004 When I first got my Rambu Muda award...Look...She's so happy

It was also in 2004 when Blacky 1st got into a serious car accident which broke her leg that we sent her for an operation which nearly cost RM1000... She still managed to "jump" back to the house with her other 3 legs after she was ran over by a car..
Since then, she always have the advantage over other dogs we have. She always had more vitamins, spirulina, buns and even durians compared to my other pets...

@2007 - when Blacky got her Keahlian award..haha

@2007 - with Yang

We always referred her as my mum's "youngest daughter" after Ah Ting and Ah Tun were borned. She's been a very lively dog.

@ 2010 - This photo was taken when I was experimenting my D90..Ah Tun studying with Blacky...

@ 2010 - The last picture I took of Blacky...

2 weeks ago, mum told me that she's been ill and refused eating for more than 2 weeks. My mum and sis have sent her to the vet and brought her medication but she simply refused...Maybe she knows that she's going soon....or maybe she just want to go less pain...
I don't know...but I js had bad feelings that she will go soon when I heard the disappointment in my mum's voice. I dialed a few times since Thursday but my mum didn't pick up the phone...
Until just now, when my mum phoned back. She said she knew I called her to ask about Blacky...But she told me Blacky had left us yesterday morning...it was a great pain to hear that news...
For 13 years of companion...Joy, laughter, sadness...I always share with Blacky. I always talked with Blacky when I was "emo", when I was happy or when I was angry. I talked to her using "Teo-Chew" dialect and I assumed she understood..and I knew she got everything I said from her eyes and emotion...She understands me well...I even remember I even told her when I 1st got into a relationship!
I'm sad coz I couldn't see her last sight.. I miss u so much Blacky...
Thanks for being with us for all these time...
Sorry for treating u bad sometimes and ignoring u when we were busy with our stuff...
Sorry for complaining ur smell when we didn't get u bath for days...But I'm sure u'll forgive us..
Hope u have a better life after this life...
If u were to be born as a dog again..Please come back to our house..
We love u the most and we miss u Blacky...
We'll remember u...may u rest in peace...
Loves...

Home Pet

Home sweet home! I'm finally back in Kuching... My hometown...like the smell of the air. The humid breathe and wind...I'm back home~

Took a few photos of my home pet a few days ago.

These are my youngest brother's tortoises

Also, this little lamb...which was named Mek Mek..

But too bad it just passed away 2 days ago... so cute... It died because of general weaknesses since birth. Her mum died after attacked by a snake, leaving behind a pair of twins lamb. The other lamb is stronger and is able to live without the mother's milk. But this poor one here is too weak that we have to feed it with milk everyday. 3 weeks had passed and its health seemed to improve..who knows it just left so suddenly...Poor little thing.
May u rest in peace Mek Mek...
