I haven't blog for quite sometime. Well, everything seems good recently. Just completed a mid term test and presentation yesterday. More to come!
I got a job as a picker/packer last month in a Distribution Centre in Welshpool, 9KM away from my home. I got this job through an agency and immediate commence work after two interviews.
As my work area involves heavy machineries and high risk, all workers have to comply strictly to health and safety regulation. So, I have to pay $120 to buy a bloody steel cap boots before work! haha
I'm currently working in a company named John Danks, which was established more than 150 years and Melbourne based. It was only recently that Woolworths Retail took over this company. Operations in WA only commenced in 1999, which also made it a truly national company. This DC that I'm working in is quite new and will still expand.
Our warehouse currently holds and supplys more than 21,000 product lines. Well, my job responsibility is mainly picking and packing orders from all stores in WA. There are about 30 workers and I'm the only chinese. haha
We supply all sorts of hardware and timber products like Bunnings warehouse. Product ranges include glove, helmet, screw, nut, timber, sandler, gardening tools, chain saw, paint, cement, fertilizer, ladder, BBQ set, furniture, etc. Some stuff are even taller and bigger than me, and some are really heavy!
Workplace is wide and clean but work hazard is present at all times. I've had some accidents with my "buggy" (Pallet truck) but luckily I was not injured.
So, this is basically how it looks like at my work place:
This is the pallet jacker/truck that we normally refer to as "buggy". We usually use these buggies to pick and carry our orders.
Hope everyone is good back there! Take care!
