September

Highlights from September:

Labor Day weekend projects
Oliver helping Dad remove kitchen cabinets
All gone! Love that the kitchen is more open now.
Front door - before
Front door - after (sort of) - I guess I never got a final after pic (ignore the blue painter's tape). You get the idea though.
I never got a before picture, but we had a nasty moldy vanity in our basement laundry room. Dave took it out and put in this really useful utility sink!
 Miles' 6th birthday
Miles wanted a superhero party with his friends. We invited new friends and old friends. We had 5 stations for the kids so they could train to be superheros. Fun was had by all! This station tested their brains - guess how many Rolos are in the container.
Test your strength and knock down these buildings
All superheros need capes! Each kid got to decorate their own cape (I thought the girls would enjoy this station the most).
Test your focus and free other superheros from the block of ice they were trapped in with water guns
And what party is complete without a pinata!
Decorating capes
Collecting candy from the pinata
Dad even got in on the fun and sprayed the kids with silly string (his webs). They had to free each other from the webs they were caught in.
Cake time!!!
He wanted a cake that looked like Captain America's shield (I LOVE Pinterest!)
They all passed their superhero training!
Present time!
The night before his actual birthday Dave and I did this to his bedroom door
In addition to his party, we also got him a kickstand for his bike. He had been asking for one for a while.
Sunday evening walk around the Provo Temple
The boys love the fountain!
It was such a gorgeous evening!
Selfie in front of the temple
We live in such a beautiful place!
Grandma Carr & Veneeta come to visit
Grandma & Veneeta stopped by on their way home from their massively long road trip from Kansas to Oregon and back to Kansas. Grandma always gets the boys fun things when she comes. Miles enjoyed painting this volcano.
And then watching it explode!
 Miles' soccer season ends
His last game
Good job high fives
Team picture
Silly picture with Coach Penny
Another medal and certificate

Miles' first school pictures
Such a handsome kindergartner!

August

Highlights from August:

My 36th Birthday!

Birthday dinner at Pei Wei's
I went to Denver for a few days for a training for work.

Took this picture from the plane for Miles
View from my hotel room
View of downtown Denver from the Mile High United Way's office
We were fed very well. This steak was to die for! Didn't try the black carrot though.
Settling in to our new house.

Not a window had any covering on it so while I was out of town Dave put up faux wood blinds!
And curtains!
And a closet organizer in our bedroom!
And a new dresser for Miles!
Mom's visit to Utah. Our new daycare provider's vacation schedule and Dave's return to teaching schedule didn't quite match up so my mom agreed to come out to Utah and watch the boys for us for a few days. While she was here we decided to check out an easy hike to the Grotto Falls. Fun was had by all!

Fun bridges to cross

My mom stuck her head in the freezing COLD water!
The week before kindergarten started for Miles he struggled with a few health issues. He had several bloody noses and even a swollen eye! The doctor put him on an antibiotic eye drop and allergy meds and we managed to clear both issues up before school started!

Back to School Night.

Meeting Miles' kindergarten teacher, Ms. Leber
Checking out Miles' new classroom
Miles' first day of kindergarten! Oliver and I took him to school the first day so we could drop him off in his classroom.

Obligatory picture by our front door
Picture in front of his new school
All settled in and ready to learn!
Our new house is far enough away from his elementary school that he gets to ride the bus. He was so excited to ride the bus the first time (his second day of school) and I had a HUGE amount of anxiety about his new independence. I imagined everything going wrong with him getting off the bus at the wrong place, etc. etc. I was worried sick, but everything went fine!

Getting on the bus
He looked so sad, but he loved every minute of it!
Miles' soccer season started.

All ready for his first game
Warming up
Our favorite soccer player!
