Dia De los Muertos

Happy Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead.  In Christian churches, it's often called Rememberence day and celebrated on the first sunday of November.  Where I come from, South Texas, where there is a large percentage of Mexican people, it's a holiday where people celebrate the memory of those who have passed.  They make altars with photos and favorite items of their loved ones.  It's a time of celebrating and honoring those who are gone.  It's been happening for thousands of years.

Dia De Los Muertos goes from Oct 31 to Nov 2nd

With Love

Here's an awesome image from artist Rick St Dennis.  he is sponsoring the Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge this week and we are delighted to have him!  This wonderful stamp is called Souvenier.  How gorgeous is she?  You know I love an image with a skull in it! The theme this week is to use designer paper and embossing (wet or dry) somewhere.  I embossed a sentiment, it says "with love."

Drop by the Outlawz Challenge site and check out all the wonderful creations this week and then share your creations with us.  Don't forget to include a sentiment on the front of your card for the Monday Greetings challenge!

Christmas tree card

Here's one of the cards that I taught at a local class. This kit comes from Sizzix.  It opens in the center to the cutest Christmas message.  It was a very popular card for the class.  Here's the front using some great paper from Basic Grey

Here's the inside of the card
Hope you like it!  If you are anywhere in the Austin TX area, I do classes for the neighborhood for just $5 (enough to cover the supplies!) at a local church.  I expect the next one to be about a month before valentines.

Cheers, Holley

Happy Anniversary

Here's a very elegant card that you can create with two basic colors for a special occasion, a 50th anniversary.  I am using Neenah Solar White Classic Crest and Basis Black.  Both are wonderful papers that you can get at Paper Temptress.  They are simple and very useful papers that you can turn into a magnificent card.
The background is embossed with a folder from Crafter's Companion and all the die cuts are layered using a set from Spellbinders Nestabilities.  The "50th" letters come from a Sizzix layered alphabet set.  I then added a whole set of small Doodlebug flowers in black and off white.

I think it turned out very elegant for such a wonderful occasion.  The customer was so happy with it and I hope the happy couple loves it.

Be-you-tiful

Sharing this lovely die cut card today. It's a sweet and simple set from Sizzix that you can use to put together a great sentiment for a card, perhaps on a gift bag or some other project.

I totally love some of their full frontal die cuts that will create a card.  Just perfect when you need a sweet elegant creation.

Shaker Box, Goth Girl with Fish

Here's a fun image from SLS Lines digi stamps.  She's called Goth Girl with Fish Balloon.  Here I turned her into a shaker box card. I totally love the fun skirt she has on, I had to color it up in bright pink along with a yellow and orange combo and then I colored her dog's getup to match.  Too cute.

Here's the image before it went into the shaker box so you can get a much better view of how fun this image is.  Don't you love her fish balloon?
Hope you adore this fun image, check out the SLS Lines site on Etsy for all her images and we have a fun challenge blog here.  Join in the challenge and you could win a stamp!

It's Good to be Queen!

Here's a stunning image from Simply Betty stamps.  I paired that with a fun sentiment from Kraftin' Kimmie and beautiful papers from Paper Temptress to create this card today.  She's definitely the Queen of  Hearts.  I hope you adore her!

Here's some of the gorgeous papers I used for this card today.  The base of the card is brown bag.  The shimmery layer is lustre called Vintage Silver Lustre Text.  The image is printed using Neenah Solar White Classic Crest.  The image was layered on to some black basis card stock, which was also used to cut out the corner die cuts.  Finally I added some lovely heart die cuts from a Sizzix set, this card stock is a somewhat shimmery red with gorgeous tiny golden flecks in it, Vermillion Sparkle.

Have a happy day.

Dreaming

Here's my view on the stunning stamp chosen for variation's week.  This stamp is called Dreaming of Aquamarine Tides from artist Katerina Koukiotis.  What a beautiful stamp.  I paired it with a wonderful saying from Plate #33.  I think that saying is just perfect with her expression.
Be sure and check out all of Katerina Koukiotis' designs at the Sweet Pea store.  She has some really stunning creations.  If you missed yesterday's posting, it was a blog hop with Sweet Pea stamps, be sure to go down to it and leave a comment.  Sweet Pea is going to pick on random person for a prize and announce that prize winner on the Sweet Pea blog Monday, so you still have time to sign up!  I hope someone on my blog wins!!
