Busy October!

October has been a very busy month! In fact, we're still trying to see what happened to July, August, and September! We made another trip out west, to San Jose, for a festival, in September.

Upon returning, we had several weekends, that included L.A, and Paris, TX. We headed out for dances in St Louis. While in St Louis, we were treated to a visit to the "Fabulous Fox Theater". We had a terrific tour of the theater! We learned the theater was built in 1928 through 1929, by William Fox. The extravagance, is unbelievable!
Below, are several photos, taken, during the tour.
The theater, as seen from the front.

The brass doors, as you enter the theater.

From the moment you enter the theater,
the extravagance is spectacular!
This view, is what you see as you enter!

A close up of one of the many pillars!

Another view, taken in the lobby.

One of the many pieces of art work, on display.

A view of the stage, from first balcony. The stage is being prepared for a performance, that night.

Another view of the ceiling.

this display case, shows some of the Tony awards, from productions at the Fox.
Little D, seated in one of many elegant chairs, or should I say thrones!

A view of the lighting fixture in the auditorium. Ashamed the light wasn't on! The fixture is 12 feet in diameter, and 3 people can work inside the fixture, cleaning, and changing the bulbs!

A view of the art work over the stage. the elephants head, is life size!

More art work, in the theater,

This piece of stained glass, is in the ceiling of the lady lounge. Note
the cigarette, in the ladies hand. This means, it's okay for the ladies to smoke, in the lounge!

A view, in the ladies lounge.

Little D, in the lounge.

A view of the men's lounge! Note the photos above the urinals! These were very racy photos, for that era, 1930's

These are the original projectors, installed in 1929.

I thought these seats were really cool! Every seat in the theater, is upholstered, like this one.

A view of the theater, as seen from the stage!

Our visit to the Fox Theater was fantastic! We had a special tour, conducted by one of our dancing friends, Bill and Francine, from st Louis. The extravagance, of the theater, is second to none!

Upon, leaving the Fox, we paid a return visit to the Triumph Grille, in St Louis. We were admiring our photo, on the wall of fame, in the grille!

The wall of shame, I mean fame, in the grille.

D&D, admiring our photo, on the wall!

Our visit to The Fox, and the Triumph Grille, was great!
Anyone visiting St Louis, should, definitely, visit these two attractions!

Tonight's Sunset

Little D, and I just discovered a setting on this site, that was preventing viewers from making comments. We think we have it corrected. If you want to comment, and there is no place, for comments, please let us know!  We enjoy hearing comments!
Thanks,
D&D

This was tonight's sunset, at the Boat House! What a great ending, to a great day!
Thanks, Dr Bill, and Sheri, for all of your hospitality, and giving us the opportunity to just chill out!

WOW, What a Relaxing Day!

This was just the day D&D needed! Very relaxing, and peaceful!
I woke up before dawn, and decided to watch sunrise, at the boat house! We later decided to take a ride up Donner Pass. Little D, had never been over the pass, so it was a lot of fun! We visited Dr. Bill & Sheri's cabin, at Donner Lake. The scenery was spectacular!

This photo of the ski lake was taken before sunrise. The moon is still out!

Another view from the boat house, just before dawn!
If this isn't the picture of serenity, I don't know what is!

A view, well after dawn, with skier on the water!

The cabin, at Donner Lake. This was built in 1932, by Bill's father, and Grandfather. Really neat cabin! Furnished with many original pieces of furniture, including a wind up Victrola!

A view of Donner Lake, in front of the cabin.

Another view, of Donner Lake.

Sheri, and Decah, on the boat dock, in front of the cabin.

D&D, on the dock.

Another view, from the dock!

My favorite "tree hugger"!

Little D, on an old tree bench. The bench is embedded in the tree.
You had no problem, seeing the age of the bench!

This photo shows how clear the water is! You can almost see how cold it is, too!

So there's no confusion, we are at the "boat house" at Hidden Lake, a private water ski lake for water skiing enthusiast!
Hidden Lake is located between Reno, and Carson City, NV.

Getting ready to sit down to another, terrific, home cooked meal by chefs, Sheri, and Decah! No doubt, a gourmet work of art!

Journeying West, Again!

After five great days, in Oklahoma City, we began our journey west, again! Had several great dances in OKC! Enjoyed visiting with our daughters, and their families! Monday we set our sights on San Jose, Ca. for a festival! The journey, so far, has been great! As we journeyed west, we realized Mother Nature, is a bit confused! The deserts of New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada, are plush, and green! Even having flash flood warnings!

The drive, west of Albuquerque. The desert foliage, very colorful!

Notice the lush colors, of the desert!

This photo taken near Flagstaff, AZ.
Actually got in a big rain storm, west of Flagstaff!

The new bridge over Hoover Dam, is now open! Unfortunately, the wall is too high, to see the beautiful scenery, below! Guess they did this so as to keep traffic moving!

Spent Tuesday night in Las Vegas! Had to make a trip to Fremont street, along the "strip"!

Caught a couple of good shows! This one is a tribute to the 80's. Very energetic, and entertaining!

Down Fremont street. This was on a Tuesday night!

One last look, up Fremont street, as we leave the Strip!

This photo, as we leave Las Vegas! Could hardly see the mountains!

Another view, leaving Las Vegas!

This view, was taken outside of Reno! Very nice ride!

Made it to Reno, where we will enjoy a day of R&R! Had a great home cooked meal, at Dr Bill, and Sheri's lake cabin! Looking forward to a day of rest! Will journey out Friday morning for San Jose, and a weekend of calling!

Back in Dallas!

WOW! What a trip! We rode over 5,000 miles, and had a terrific time! I am so proud of my wife, Decah! She was terrific! I only know a handful of ladies, who would make a trip like this! Heck, I only know a handful of guys who would make a trip like this! We saw some of the most spectacular scenery in our wonderful country!
This ride has kindled the fire, to do it again! We want to make more side trips, next time! We enjoyed terrific weather, the entire trip! Several times we dawned full leathers, as it really got cool! According to Little D, it got COLD!
During several rides, I thought a lot of one of my junior high, and high school coaches, Coach Maines! We saw and visited with Coach, at my high school re-union, this past June! I learned that Coach has a Harley, and expressed a desire to see our country, on his Fat Boy! Coach, you rode with me on this ride!
I am so blessed to have a wife, who shares my passion for riding, and adventure! We are already planning our next ride!

Since we didn't take any pictures, on this leg of our ride, I am posting some photos taken of D&D, while at Kirkwood Lodge, in Osage Beach, MO, on the Lake Of The Ozarks. Our good friend, George Denny, a professional photographer at the lake, took these photos, for us. Thanks, George!

These photo's were taken, just before our ride out west.
