haoming passed away peacefully early this morning, with family by his side..

Heat rashes that refuse to go away turns out to be scabies.
Another "supposed" thing that bedridden patients are prone to, but we are ignorant about. Only discovered something's wrong when the family got it too. The terrible itch! God knows how HM puts up with it without verbalising the discomfort for a month.

After staying at the hospital for more than a month, Haoming finally received his new titanium skull / cranoplasty surgery.

2 interesting outomes from Haoming's routine 6 months checkup at NUH today.

We met Haoming's main neurosurgery physician, it's only the 2nd time i'd seen him instead of younger doctors from his team. Besides the routine question if HM is showing cognitive signs, he probably looked at him more carefully.

i. the doctor looked at HM's right wrist which is increasing affected by spasticity, it's just not possible to splint it during the night anymore. And he suggested referring HM to his colleague who might be able to help relax his muscles... through botox!

Wow, HM maybe the 1st member of the Ang family to receive botox treatment!
Still pending the neurology doc's diagnosis, but it is certainly a welcomed remedy besides drugging him with more baclofen.

ii. after 2 years, Haoming will get his removed skull bone area repaired/replaced through cranioplasty surgery. Previously doctors advised not to undertake as it's just cosmetic in nature. But the gapping 'hole' in his skull always attract unnecessary stares. So mum agreed immediately when the doctor suggest if we'll consider it. So come Feb, HM will receive the artificial skull bone implant, and his head will look 'whole' again.

Time flies.. got to back date this entry.

Haoming was admitted to hospital for pneumonia for a month after mid-autumn celebration. Quite a scary episode as he started having fever for no obvious reason. Not being to find any symptoms i cant consult any GP and got to admit him to hospital A&E instead. Not that i can find any GP or doctor that will pay house visits, i really wonder if they can diagnose without help of tests since HM cant communicate to express what could be wrong.

Need to find out if there is an in between party that will be able to help next time. Or we can only treat the A&E doctors as his GP.. sigh, the wait there is really terrible!

Guilty for inconsiderate driving, $1,000 fine and 6 months revoke of license.

1st case to be heard, court21 was pretty noisy from people moving in and out this morning. But that seems to the gist of the verdict, after the defendant lawyer read out blah-blahs of 80yr old mother stories to plead for leniency. The 2 witnesses who refused to come forward were in the cab apparently at time of impact.. i wonder how they can ever rest easy having partially caused this.

The cab driver not plead guilty, getting lawyer representation in august.. to plead for leniency? I'm pissed!

We'd moved!

We'd moved to Toh Guan area.. :)
It's just a 5 room flat, but we are definitely enjoying the bigger place and bathing HM is much easier now in the barrier-free environment.

The cab driver who caused Hart's accident will be summon to court soon. Hope he'll repent and plead guilty.
Don't dare to tell my folks about it yet until there is a verdict. Dun see the point to stir up uneasiness in midst of calmness we'd finally managed to come to after all this time.. to be anguished over the possibilities. I just hope for closure, that the person responsible be punished for what he did.

Yesterday turns out to be a day of visitors for Hart.

Lynley, our volunteer helper came by in the morning as usual.

The taxi driver's insurance company sent a neurosurgeon to see him (finally). Mum took advantage to get more doctor's opinion: if blood pressure too low, medication alright, his limbs too stiff.. etc. Verdict seems that all is in order for our wait for him to come round.

Then, we have to send for the supplier for HM's mechanical bed, as the air-mattress is not inflating well. Don't know if it is because he has put on weight, but the air tubings at his butt area is definitely depressed :P

After 2 hours of probing, the supplier is unable to find the problem behind it and we have to conclude that it is part of wear and tear; after a year usage, HM definitely deserves new mattress.

The family is also preparing for our house move. Unbelieveably it caused much bickering when it's such a joyous occasion that we are finally going to get more space. Just where to put A Bed can actually be a 2 day argument topic.. hopefully we hasn't scare off the renovation contracter.

For Haoming, he will still occupy the living room quarters to move him easily. And it is a good chance to ramp or remove barriers to make the flat more wheelchair friendly. And our 'ingenious' cardboard and groundsheet method of shower can finally be over!
